TRAVELLING TO THE EVENT TRAIN AND BUS OPTIONS (RECOMMENDED) Due to trackwork affecting Circular Quay, the closest station to and from the start line is Wynyard. The starting line and finish area for both the 5km and 10km events is on George Street near the Overseas Passenger Terminal. Major trackwork is scheduled over the weekend with buses replacing trains on parts of the City Circle, T1 Northern & Western, T2 Inner West & Leppington, T8 Airport & South, Blue Mountains and Central Coast & Newcastle lines from 11:00pm Saturday 28 until 10:00am Sunday 29 July. This work will also affect T1 North Shore and T3 Bankstown lines. For the most up to date information on trackwork, visit transportnsw.info. ROAD CLOSURES (IMPORTANT TO NOTE) Road closures will be in place along the event route from 5:00am, all roads to reopen by 12:00pm. Key roads will close for the events and existing restrictions in the city mean parking is limited so plan to arrive early and carpool where possible. Road closures will be in place along the course through the Sydney CBD, The Rocks, Dawes Point, Millers Point, Barangaroo, King St Wharf and Pyrmont. Key road closures will be in place between 5:00am and 12:00pm midday including sections of George St, Hickson Rd, Sussex St, Murray St, Pirrama Rd and other surrounding local roads. If you plan to drive and park, remember to allow extra time walking from your parking space to arrive at the race start approx. 45mins before the event. Street parking is limited and remember to check the parking meters carefully for permitted parking times. ING OPTIONS (LIMITED) There are a limited number of car parks within walking distance of the start line that operate early on Sunday mornings. Some options include: Clocktower Car Park, 55 Harrington St, The Rocks. Approx. 10-minute walk to the start line. Gateway Car Park, 25 Reiby Pl, Sydney. Approx. 4-minute walk to the start line. Sydney Opera House Car Park, 2 Macquarie St, Sydney. Approx. 10-minute walk to the start line. Barangaroo Reserve Car Park, Entry via 1 Towns Pl, Barangaroo Point. Approx. 13-minute walk to start line. All available car park options can be found at the Wilson Parking or Secure Parking websites.
ARRIVING AT THE START AREA BAGGAGE AREA The recommendation for the morning of the Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10k & 5k is that you arrive at the start area 45mins prior to the commencement of your race start time. If you have items that you need stored whilst you are running, you can drop these items off at the baggage area on race morning. START TIMES 1. Baggage area will be located on the lawn in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art, on the way towards the race marshalling area. 5k PARTICIPANTS Start Time: 7:30am Start Line Cut-off: 7:40am (must be over the start line by this time) Official Course Cut-off: 1hr: 05min (9min/km pace) 10k PARTICIPANTS Start Time: 8:40am Start Line Cut-off: 8:50am (must be over the start line by this time) Official Course Cut-off: 1hr: 40min (9min/km pace) RACE BIB & TIMING CHIP A timing chip is affixed to the back of your race bib. Ensure your race bib is pinned onto the front of your outmost layer of clothing, with the safety pins provided. This will record your time from the moment you cross the start line and when you cross the finish line. Wearing your race bib is mandatory throughout the event to enable course marshals to decipher between 10k and 5k runners and for entry into the correct start marshalling areas. The timing chip is disposable. Important Instructions for baggage: 2. Affix the baggage sticker (replica of your race bib provided alongside your race bib) to a plastic bag supplied to you at the baggage area a. No personal bags or backpacks will be accepted at the baggage drop you must put any loose items into the plastic bag provided and affix your baggage sticker. b. Please do not leave any valuables in your bag; the organisers will not be responsible for lost property. Your baggage is held for the duration of the race and must be collected by 11.30am. 3. To collect your items, you will need to show your race bib to one of our helpful volunteers to ensure you collect the correct bag. Note: Baggage that is not collected after 11:30am will be treated as lost property and may be disposed of. Note: do not bend your timing chip or wear clothing over the race bib or your time will not be recorded. Access to the marshalling area from the Overseas Passenger Terminal is either via the steps within First Fleet Park at the southern end of the Museum of Contemporary Art, or for accessible access via Alfred Street. There are two marshalling areas clearly labelled A and B and participants can check their start group by looking at their race bib. There is one gun and one starting time for both groups. Remember, your timing chip will record your own personal Net Time. However, your race result is based on Gun Time. 10K MARSHALLING INFORMATION Groups A, B, C and D (race bibs starting with A, B, C and D) must make their way to the start marshalling area on George Street 45mins prior to the start. Participants in either Group A or B can access the marshalling area via the set of stairs at the southern end of Museum of Contemporary Art, within First Fleet Park. C or D Group participants, or those requiring accessible access, must head past First Fleet Park, turning right onto Alfred Street to access their marshalling zone on George Street. Please listen to instructions from staff and volunteers on where the marshalling areas are located. All prams must be in Group D for the safety of other entrants as well as the children in the prams. Group A will be corralled into the start chute first followed by Group B, Group C and then Group D. There is one gun and one starting time for all four groups. Remember, your timing chip will record your own personal Net Time. However, your official race result is based on Gun Time. Participants in either the C or D Group (10k only), or participants requiring accessible access, can take the footpath along Alfred Street to gain access to George Street. DRINK STATIONS ON COURSE There is one water station on the 5k course located at approximately the 2km mark on Hickson Road (before the U-Turn). There are two drink stations providing water on the 10k course located at approximately the 2km mark on Hickson Road. The second drink station is located just past the 5km mark on the boardwalk at Pyrmont Bay Park. SMILE! Supersports our official event photographers, will be out on course to capture you taking on your 5k and 10k journey, so be sure to smile! CROSSING THE FINISH LINE Last year, it was great to see so many people proudly wearing their medals for hours after the race was officially finished. So, after crossing the finish line do not forget to collect your Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 5k or 10k medal. Your complimentary bottle of Pureau water will be available from the drink station just past the finish line.
