Christmas Decorations Go Up vv By Sandy Singletary Photo By Sandy Singletary The WIA Social Committee would like thank everyone who came out on November 29 to decorate Waterwood for the holidays. A special thank you goes to Shirley Morrell and Myra Spencer for coming early to spruce up the wreaths. They look beautiful this year. We would also like to thank Steve Morrell, Lynn Spencer, Pat Zappa, Janice Messina, Bruce Perea, Sally & John Charlton, and Earl McVay. Thank you for helping bring a touch of Christmas to Waterwood! MERRY CHRISTMAS! Quote of the Month I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. - Charles Dickens Page 1

Special Thanks for Book Donations volleyball team and the Huntsville Intermediate Student Council kids who were there to receive the books in the library. I appreciated all of your help in support in this project. Thank you again! -Marissa Maas Hello everyone this is Marissa Maas from Bayview Circle again. I would just like to thank all of you who dropped books off at the box in the mail area. I brought all of those books to the SHSU volleyball games with me to put in their collection boxes for donating to the Huntsville Intermediate School. By the end of their season the SHSU volleyball team collected over 300 books with the help of your donations and those who donated at the games. On December 1st the volleyball team went to Huntsville Intermediate to donate all of the books. The photo is from the donation day with the SHSU Page 2 Sweet Potatoes with Praline Topping Recipe by Dona Curren 4 or 5 large sweet potatoes (I use canned) 2 eggs 1/3 cup milk ¾ cup sugar ¾ stick butter 1 tsp. vanilla ½ tsp cinnamon. Mix all together until smooth. Pour into a greased casserole. Topping: 1cup brown sugar 1/3 cup flour 1/3 cup melted butter 1 cup chopped nuts Mix together until crumbly and then sprinkle over potatoes. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes. WATERWOOD WOMEN S LEAGUE In November Waterwood Women s League went to Point Blank Community Church for a Subway luncheon, and we had a good time making hanging stars out of Christmas cards and angel garland. The next meeting will be Dec.14th at 10:00 a.m. at the Woodbine Hotel in Madisonville. We will meet at the WIA Bldg by 8:30 a.m. to leave for

Madisonville. If you want to ride with someone or follow them, we can make arrangements then. We will have three choices for lunch, a seasonal dish, soup and sandwich or East Texas Lunch Plate for our luncheon. The Pet Corner We will also have an ornament exchange, and the ornament should not cost more than $10.00. Also please bring your gift for Toys for Tots in a gift bag, if you have not already dropped the toys off at Dona's or Tracie's house. Also don't forget Care/Share, as they need more donations at this time of year. Please reply by Dec.7th, so we can give the Hotel a count on how many to set up for. Thank you! Lalla Goka, 936-891-5962. Cooper! Beloved pet of Chris and Julie Jakubson. He is 7 years old. Everyone loves Cooper! Waterwood Loses a Dear Friend Robert O. Beckles passed away Monday November 28 th. Swallowtail Butteryfly by Maryann Readal Can you believe that this 3 inch rather scary looking caterpillar turns into the beautiful Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly? You will see these swallowtails flitting about your garden all summer long. The male swallowtail is black and yellow and the female can either be black and blue or yellow and black with a touch of blue at the bottom edge of its wings. If you want to see these butterflies in your yard, plant some pink, purple or red flowers along with some dill and parsley. That is what they like. The adult male butterfly has a large wingspan of 3-6 inches. The chrysalis can overwinter, so you will often spot the tiger Swallowtail very early in the spring.
