Townsend Ashby Youth Baseball and Softball 2019 SPRING BASEBALL PROGRAMS Baseball & T-Ball ages are determined by the player s age on May 1 st. Softball ages are determined by the player s age on January 1 st. T-Ball Boys & Girls, League Age 4-6 $75.00 Boys and girls aged 4-6 learn hitting and fielding fundamentals in a supportive team environment. Young kids learn to hit a baseball from a batting tee which is height-adjusted for a level swing, batting in order through the line-up for the entire game. We recommend all first-time players under 6 years of age complete at least one season of T-Ball prior to moving to Rookie Baseball or Softball. Season will begin on April 30, 2019 and end on June 27, 2019 Games will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30pm to 6:45pm All games will be held at the Spaulding Memorial School on the two T-Ball Fields adjacent to the Kids Kountry Playground. The first half of each game will be instructional practice, followed by a game against another one of the T-Ball teams. We anticipate having four teams of 8-10 kids on each team. $75 per player + $50 required fundraising deposit - with a $400 family maximum across all TAYBS

Rookie League Boys & Girls, League Age 6-8 $75.00 Designed for boys & girls aged 6-8, this division uses coaches to pitch allowing for more hittable balls at the plate and more action in the field. Emphasis is on starting to learn the game and rules of baseball. All positions will begin to be developed at this level including pitching and catching. The focus of Rookie League is to prepare each player to move on to the Minor Leagues. Games will be held on Thursdays and Saturdays starting on Thursday April 25 and ending Saturday June 22 Practices will be held one or two days per week starting in April and continuing thru the end of the season. The days of the practices are the decision of the head coach and can fluctuate throughout the season. Home games are played at the Spaulding Baseball Field. Away games will be played in either Pepperell or Shirley. We anticipate having three teams of 8-12 kids on each team. $75 per player + $50 required fundraising deposit - with a $400 family maximum across all TAYBS Minor League Boys & Girls, League Age 9-10 $100.00 Recommended for boys and girls aged 9-10. Players build and refine their fundamental skills while beginning to understand game strategy and teamwork. This is the first level that s kids will pitch to other kids. To keep games moving there is a 4 run, 3 steals per inning limit. There is no infield fly or dropped third strike rule. There is also a 10-run mercy rule. Our league participates in the Macintosh Baseball Regional League, which will contain further rule modifications and allows for a post season playoff tournament and an interleague all-star game. All players must attend our annual player evaluations to ensure proper placement on a team. There are two to three games per week and they can be held on any day starting on Monday, April 22 and ending by June 15th Two practices will be held per week starting in April and continuing thru the end of the season. Major Leagues Boys & Girls, League Age 11-12 $100.00 The major league division is designed for 11 to 12-year-old boys and girls. Cal Ripken Baseball is played under the Official Baseball Rules but implements some special rules as necessary for the development and welfare of this young age group. Under the Major Division, there are two formats, the Major/60 and Major/70 divisions. In both formats, games consist of six innings, have a 10-run mercy limit, allow unlimited stealing and both the drop third strike and infield fly rules are in effect. Our league participates in the Macintosh Baseball Regional League, which will contain further rule modifications and allow for a post season playoff tournament and an interleague all-star game. Major/60 Division This division features a 46' pitching distance and 60' base paths. There is a 5 run per inning limit and no leading is allowed. All players must attend our annual evaluations to ensure proper placement on a team. There are two to three games per week and they can be held on any day starting on Monday, April 22 and ending by June 15th Practices will be held two days per week starting in April and continuing thru the end of the season. The days of the practices are the decision of the head coach and can fluctuate throughout the season. Home games will be played at Craven Field and can occasionally be at the Spaulding Baseball Field. The days of the practices are the decision of the head coach and can fluctuate throughout the season. Home games will be played at Craven Field. Away games will be played in either Ayer, Bolton, Groton, Harvard, Littleton, Pepperell, Shirley or Tyngsboro. We anticipate having one team of 10-12 kids. Both major divisions cost $100 per player plus a $50 required fundraising deposit - with a $400 family maximum across all TAYBS programs per season. Senior Leagues Boys & Girls, League Age 13-17 $125.00 Founded in 1951, Babe Ruth Baseball League was created for ballplayers who wish to continue their baseball playing experience beyond the age of 12. Under this senior division there are two formats, the 13/14 Division and the 15/16/17 Division. In both formats, games consist of 7 innings, have a 10- run mercy limit, allow leading, unlimited stealing and both the drop third strike and infield fly rules are in effect. Our league participates within North Central Mass Babe Ruth/District 5. 13/14 Division This division is where many players get their baseball cleats muddy for the first time on a standard 90' diamond under the Official Baseball Rules used by Major League Baseball. From late April and during May there are two games per week on Saturday & Sunday. During June & thru Mid-July there are up to three games per week excluding Sundays. Practices will be held two to three days per week starting in April and continuing thru the end of the season. The days of the practices are the decision of the head coach and can fluctuate throughout the season. Depending on where in the week the Fourth of July falls, there may be a short break to the season. Home games will be played at either Allen Field or the North Middlesex High School Field. Away games will be played in either Ashburnham, Ayer, Clinton, Fitchburg, Gardner, Leominster, Lunenburg, Narragansett, Pepperell, Shirley, Sterling or Westminster. Both USABAT and BBCOR certified bats are allowed. We anticipate having one team of 10-12 kids. 15/16/17 Division This division is both for kids who do not wish to play high school ball but want to continue playing in a more relaxed environment, as well as for those high school players who wish to continue playing after their high school season has ended. There are two to three games per week and they can be held on any day of the week, starting just after the completion of the high school baseball season in early June and running thru the middle of July. There may be up to two practices per week starting in April and continuing thru the end of the season. The amount of practices and the days of the week of practices are the decision of the head coach and can fluctuate throughout the season. Depending on what day of the week the Fourth of July falls, there may be a short break to the season. Home games will be played at either Allen Field or the North Middlesex High School Field. Games consist of seven innings, have a 7-run per inning limit, allows unlimited stealing and the drop third strike rule is in effect. Players use a 12 ball, and pitching distance is extended to 43. Our league participates in the North Central Mass Softball Regional League, which will contain further rule modifications and allows for a post season playoff tournament and an interleague all-star game. All players must attend our annual player evaluations to ensure proper placement. There are two to three games per week and they can be held any day of the week starting late April and ending in mid-june. Games are typically on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday and most Sundays, but this can vary year to year.
