Suggested Guidelines for Competition Individual request for special ride times and requests cannot be honored at shows. Show hosts and show secretaries have considerable challenges when scheduling shows while considering individuals length of times at a show; competitors with multiple horses; time for ring changes and allotting sufficient time for costume classes. Class placings and Tie Scores 1 st place is awarded to the competitor with the highest percentage score. 2 nd place is awarded to the competitor with the next highest percentage score, and so on. In case of equality of scores the competitor with the highest total collective marks shall be placed 1 st. When collective marks are equal, the placing will be a tie. If the tie is for 1 st place, both competitors will receive a 1 st place; subsequent placings shall be 3 rd, 4 th, and so on. When the tie is for 2 nd place, the placings shall be 1 st, 2 nd, 2 nd, 4 th, 5 th, and so on. End of Show Championship awards It is suggested that there be at least four (4) competitors in a division for end of show championship awards to be offered. One rider/horse combination shall not receive both a championship and reserve championship award per division. Reserve will be awarded to the next rider/horse combination with the next highest score. High Point Championship High point championship is awarded to the rider/horse combination with the highest placing point total in their division. In case of equality of points, the tie can be broken by averaging all scores within the division and the championship awarded to the competitor with the highest average percentage score. High Percentage Championship High percentage championship is awarded to the competitor with the highest percentage score in their division. In case of equality of high percentage score, the tie can be broken by averaging all scores within the division with the championship awarded to the competitor with the highest average percentage. Test of Choice If any entrant in a Test of Choice Class is riding a test that requires a large ring; then all entries in that class must also ride in the large ring. It s true! GLASS-ED is planning on hosting the USDF L Education Program again! To be held at Albion College. Warm-up Arena Etiquette & Rings Pass left shoulder to left shoulder. When walking, stay well to the inside of the track, so that those who are working may make use of it. Also, if you are going to halt, rein-back, etc., either come in off track or do it on the short ends of the arena. Lateral movements (especially the shoulder-in and the haunches-in, which usually are done along the wall) have the right of way. Do NOT cut someone off. Look where you are going and where others are going. If you notice that someone is not looking where they are going, say in a LOUD voice, HEADS UP! If you should lose control of your horse, warn others by saying in a LOUD voice, HEADS UP! Lunging a horse in the Warm-Up arena at a competition is not allowed. Find out where longeing is permitted. It is also not a good idea to longe in an arena where other people are riding as it often is very dangerous (and selfish, since it takes up an enormous amount of space!). Remember be polite and forgiving we all make mistakes. 32 www.glass-ed.org
