4-H Cooking Kitchen Stars will meet Thursday, Dec. 7th at 6:00 p.m. at the AG Learning Center. 4-H A-Team Dog Club-Meets most Mondays at 6:30 p.m. at the Fair Grounds/Ag Learning Center. 4-H Colonels Horse Club Meets 2nds Tuesday at 6:30 p.m at the AG Learning Center. 4-H Blue Ribbon Dog Club Meets on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Fair Grounds. 4-H Cloverbud Club will meet Dec. 12th at 6:00 p.m. in the AG Learning Center. 4-H Robotics Club Meets Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. in the AG Learning Center. 4-H Homeschool Club Meets the 1st Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Ag Learning Center. Remember that is if school is cancelled for bad weather, so are 4-H activities and meetings. We must have an enrollment form on file to be a member of a 4-H club. Livestock Club Start Up Meeting! The Hoof Prints Livestock club will hold its startup meeting on January 11th, 2018. It will start at 6:30. Unlike years past, it will count for two (2) educational hours. This meeting is for all youth interested in Livestock and who plan to show animals for the summer show season in 2018. Each 4-H member who shows livestock (beef, dairy, sheep, hogs, and goats) are required to get 6 hours of education each year, provided by a certified livestock leader. There are no exceptions to this rule! Our regular meeting schedule of the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. We will meet from January through March, with possible April dates, but do not wait to get your hours. We will have some activities and events outside of our regular Thursday meetings as well. Our meetings are a fun learning experience! We hope you will consider joining this club! Rolling out the green carpet for volunteers Feb. 8-10th, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington. This is a great opportunity to further your education as a 4-H Volunteer and learn valuable ideas to bring back to Jessamine County. Jessamine County 4-H Teen Council Next meeting: December 12th. We will meet at Walmart to shop for our Angel tree kids at 5:30pm. You may not participate unless you have a permission slip and enrollment packet on file with us! Permission slips have been mailed, or you can pick one up at the office! Come on out and see what Teen Council is about! This is open to our 9th- 12th graders who either live in or go to school in Jessamine County. Don t forget that if you plan to apply to be a Junior Counselor at 4-H camp, outside of camp involvement in 4-H is considered in the scoring process! We are now accepting contracts for the 4-H Country ham Project! This is a great project that teaches youth to not only cure a country ham, but also valuable public speaking skills. Participants receive two country hams, and learn the curing process through this 4-H Project. Participants also are required to give a speech on the assigned topic at the opening day of the KY state fair! Jessamine County Youth are allowed to sell one ham in our Investment in Youth 4-H/FFA Livestock sale. For more information or to sign up for this project contact the extension office! Deadline to turn in registration for this project is Thursday December 14th! First meeting will be January 15th. Adult ham information will come out on Monday December 18th. If you are interested please call our office at 885-4811 to be put on the mailing list. 4-H Speech Contest Our County 4-H Speech Contest will be Monday, January 29h, 2018. We will start at 6:30pm. If you would like to sign up for the speech contest, and are NOT in 4th or 5th grade in Jessamine County Public Schools you may do so by calling the extension office at 885.4811. Deadline to sign up for the speech contest is Friday January 19th, 2018. For 4th and 5th Grader students in Jessamine County Schools: Contests are being held in your classrooms, and participants should have signed up through those. The winners from each Classroom will come to the County Run -off on Jan. 29th, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.
