Missouri Sheep Producers to Offer Another Round of Starter Flock Grants In an effort to promote the sheep industry to Missouri's youth, MSP has initiated a starter flock grant program. This year marks the seventh year MSP has offered this program with nine grants being awarded. The deadline of May 1 is fast approaching for submittal of the 2015 applications. This year MSP has teamed up with FCS Financial to offer up to three $600 starter flock grants to 4H or FFA youth to purchase ewes. Grant eligibility, requirements and applications can be viewed and downloaded from the MSP webpage at www.missourisheep.com. Applications must be postmarked by May 1 and mailed to: Scott Kaden -15850 CR 7200, Rolla, MO 65401 Show Stock Clinic April 30 th in Green City Sullivan County Extension is hosting a Small Animal Show Clinic for 4-H and FFA poultry, rabbit and dog exhibitors, and their parents, to learn from experts in the field and gain hands on experience. The clinic is open to all small animal exhibitors in any county and will cover rabbits, poultry and dogs. Participants will learn about selection, handling, feeding, grooming, exhibiting and health care of their animals. Experts on each species will be there to give short presentations and offer hands on information. Please bring your animal to the clinic for hands-on practice. The Small Animal Show Clinic will be from 9:00 am-12:00 pm on Saturday, April, 30 th in Green City, City Park, rain or shine. Exhibitors can preregister by April 22 nd for $15 or register the morning of the event for $20.00. A lunch will be served to youth and is available to adults for an additional $5.00, and door prizes will be given. There will also be an Agility Class demonstration for Dog project members at 1:30pm in the Green City Park. Swine DNA Cards DNA cards for the state fair are now $3. DNA cards are necessary for animals to be considered for Breed Champion or Grand Champion in the division. Robotics Project Meetings open to all! Junk Drawer Robotics will meet the second Sunday of each month from 2-4 PM. Mildred Litton building on the Litton Ag Campus/Fair Grounds. Each meeting will consist of a lesson, video, and a build. Each build will be an item that can be submitted as a fair project. Some builds will require more than one build session. MISSOURI SHOW ME QUALITY ASSURANCE (SMQA) By June 1st, all 4-H members enrolled in food animal projects (including beef, sheep, swine, dairy cattle, meat and dairy goats, rabbits, and poultry) must complete the appropriate level of SMQA certification to be considered in good standing.
