Welcome... Welcome to our annual sale. I have never seen enthusiasm or grass at these levels. It is history making ground we walk on and I am sure we will remember it fondly. I would encourage you to put your best genetics forward while the industry is in its growth phase. We had an opportunity last spring to tie into a great one in our purchase of 314A. It is exciting to have him here. We had a banner calf crop last year and look forward to you evaluating them sale day. This is a year of genetic exploration for us. We used six different outcross sires on our heifers and are introducing a new natural service sire, RCR Aurum Domino. It gives you a world of different choices to make. We thought it would add value to try a few polled Hereford sires on our heifers and keep our breeding program intact on the main cow herd. A major emphasis in this herd has always been to start with a live calf so we give major consideration to birth weight and calving ease. It was interesting to note just glancing at the graphics from the recent genetic summit how important feed efficiency and disposition were. Those two things have been cornerstones of this operation for the last 10 years. We have been halter breaking all these bull calves since I was in high school and it really shows. We will put the disposition of this cowherd up against anything out there. Temple Grandin s latest comments on the far reaching effects on disposition and its impact on the product the consumer eats justifies what we have been doing for decades. We have always known Hereford cattle were efficient in feed conversion and the results from SAREC prove that these cattle are not only good but great. The Lot 44 bull s negative 5.37 RFI (Relative Feed Intake) demonstrates just how outstanding these cattle are in an all breeds bull test. These cattle are all limit fed. Grass is the only thing you get you all you want to eat here. Our great gains come from grass and that is what we have to sell. We feel these cattle can transition to your environment and get the job done. The conservative way these cattle have been developed will have a direct effect on their improved longevity. We let the genetics do the heavy lifting. I probably should just say what I said last year but louder; what a great market and opportunity stand in front of us. The effects of ample rainfall are astounding. These cattle look great and I am pleased not to make any excuses for them; other than the fall calves who have just run wild. We are offering several females this year which are the tip of the iceberg to a large number we will sell by private treaty.
