1. Age Group All players must be under 14 years of age on 1 st January of the year of competition. 2. Teams A team consists of a maximum of ten (10) players on the field at any one time. The ten (10) on-field players shall be designated as follows: Goalkeeper (1) Defence players (3) Midfield players (3) Attack players (3) Teams may have more than 16 players during home matches but finals will be limited to 16 players for each team. A minimum of 8 players on the field is allowed before an opposing team may claim a walkover. 3. Player Transfer and Eligibility Where a club has entered two or more clubs in a competition, players will not be allowed to transfer from team to team within the club during the season except as allowed by the Lacrosse Victoria bylaws. To be eligible for final games, a player must be registered and have played at least 6 games for the season. 4. Game Duration The duration of the game is 4, 15 minute quarters with time off allowed as indicated by the referee. Time between quarters: and a three (3) minute break at the end of the first and third quarters a five (5) minute break at half time. 5. Protective Equipment All players must wear the following protective equipment: a helmet (with a face guard) gloves The goalkeeper must wear protective equipment including: throat guard (attached to the face guard of the helmet) chest plate protective box. Other players must wear helmet, face mask and gloves. Page 3 Issue 4, 4 th April, 2007
6. Lacrosse Stick A standard Lacrosse Victoria approved field lacrosse stick will be used. The goal keeper may use a standard Lacrosse Victoria approved goal keeping stick 7. Length of Stick The length of all standard sticks in this grade must be between 0.92 metres and 1.07 metres (36 to 42 inches). The goal keeping stick may be any desired length as in the senior rules, however common sense should prevail by having the stick length appropriate for the player's size. 8. Competition Ball A Lacrosse Victoria approved ball must be used during competitions. 9. Team Uniforms Each player will wear a team uniform consisting of shirts numbered front and back, shorts and socks. The goalkeeper may wear tracksuit pants. Players not correctly dressed will not be allowed to take the field. 10. Body Checking A player may body check an opponent from the front above the knee and below the neck if the opponent is in possession of the ball. Any avoidable, late or unnecessary body contact is to be penalised. (For the sake of this rule, possession shall be interpreted as being in the carrying position.) 11. Stick Checking A stick check is only permitted as long as the opponent has possession of the ball. The player must have two hands holding the stick during the action. Any follow through to the body or unnecessary force is to be immediately penalised. 12. Pre Checking Pre checking either in a loose ball OR catching situation will not be allowed. 13. Poke Checking Poke checking to any part of the body or stick will not be allowed. 14. Two Hand Hold The two hand hold is not allowed. Penalty: Personal Foul Page 4 Issue 4, 4 th April, 2007
15. Maximum on field Players Each team may have no more than 10 players on the field at any one time. A team infringing will incur a penalty depending on which team had possession of the ball at that time. Penalty: Team not in possession - 30 seconds Team in possession - loss of possession. 16. Offside - Penalty Each team shall retain four (4) players in the defensive half of the field and three (3) players in the offensive half of the field at all times. The number of players is more important than the positions adopted by the players. A team going offside will incur a penalty depending on which team had possession of the ball at the time of the off-side. Penalty: Team not in possession - 30 seconds Team in possession - loss of possession. 17. Ten second clear rule The ten second clear rule is not to be used. 18.
