YMCA of Rock River Valley Jr NBA Basketball How do I find out what team my child is on? After the skills session on Saturday, December 3 teams will be put together. Coaches will call the parents and the YMCA will email if an email was provided. How do I find out when practices are? The coaches set up the practice times/days and will call each child the week before practices are set to begin. How do I find out if practice is cancelled? Typically the coach or team parent will call each and every child on their team. You may also check the Facebook page but it may not be up to date at the time you check. The safest way is to wait for a call from your coach or to directly call him/her. Inclement weather The YMCA will notify all coaches if practices are delayed or cancelled and the coach will then call all players. Such information will also be posted on the Rock River Valley YMCA Facebook page. If you have any questions please call the YMCA or your coach about the weather affecting your practice. Parents and Player Code of Conduct Agreement The following Code of Conduct Agreement outlines a philosophy that is paramount to the youth sports programs. The current youth sports program is a sport that belongs to the players. While youth sports are exciting for parents and spectators, parent and spectator excitement and enthusiasm must be both positive and controlled. Uncontrolled or abusive parental behavior is not accepted in the basketball program. Your player The basketball program attempts to provide the best coaching and training available for your player. Keep this in mind when encouraging your player and their teammates during a game. The YMCA needs your enthusiasm and support for our teams, but only in a constructive manner. A parent s duty is to encourage; not to coach or criticize. Conduct Continuous yelling is distracting for both teams and at times can reveal the parents lack of understanding of the game. Enthusiasm, in short bursts, is welcome and needed. Profane or abusive language will not be tolerated. Always show respect to the players and spectators of the opposing team. Alcohol, tobacco products, illegal drugs, pets and firearms are not permitted at any basketball event. Always remember you are responsible for the conduct of all visitors you bring to any game or other organized event. The Referee Never use foul or abusive language toward any of the referees. The coach and team captains are in control of the game. Each referee is just as different as the field or court the game is played on. Please be supportive of them. Remember, a parent has never overruled a referee and never will. Anyone who violates this code of conduct agreement is subject to immediate dismissal from a game and disciplinary action will be taken from the basketball staff. The Player It is recommended that each player attend all practices and games. Should it be necessary to miss a practice or a game for illness or personal reasons, the player is responsible for informing their coach as soon as possible. Players are expected to arrive at practices on-time and ready to take the court with proper equipment and uniforms on. Ethical behavior and respect for your opponent, the referees, spectators and all coaches is required of all basketball players
YMCA of Rock River Valley Jr NBA Basketball Team Parent Responsibilities Thank you for signing up to be the team parent on the team. The team parent position is a fun and exciting job and in most cases just as important as the coach. I have put together a job description for you to follow. 1. Any information to be passed out to parents on the team regarding picture schedule, snack schedule, any game/practice information or other notes/letters from the director or coach. a. Picture Schedule-We will get a picture schedule the first or second week of practices to be passed out to parents on the team. When doing pictures it is encouraged to be at the site approximately 30 minutes prior to your pictures. b. Snack Schedule-Most teams do a snack schedule either after practices or games. You can get a list of parents to sign up for dates where they can bring snacks for the kids. This is usually the most exciting time of the day for the kids. Check with parents as far as what items to bring. I suggest bringing healthy snacks such as oranges, apples and bananas and to stay away from candy, soda or sugar filled snacks. c. Game/Practice info-the game and practice info may change due to snow or school conflicts. Usually make-up games will be added to the end of the season or during the week if we get backed up on games. I will attend some practices and all games. If I have any paperwork/news that needs to be passed out I will make sure you get them. As always you can get a hold of us at the contact info below.
