Cozumel Island The Cozumel Island Sunday, September 11th Cozumel, a place of turtles, raccoons and flamingoes, whose people are simple and relaxed, living a life in no rush. An island full of traditions and celebrations, like the Carnival in February and the Cedral festivities in May. Come visit and enjoy with your friends and family, this beautiful island as you race in the ITU Open Race Triathlon Cozumel 2016. Welcome! Documents you must bring along No one is allowed to pick up another athlete s race packet. Each athlete must bring an official photo ID with photocopy and must sign a waiver at the corresponding booth during packet pick up. Packet Pick up 1) SIGNED WAIVER. 2) OFFICIAL ID AND PHOTOCOPY OF IT. We will have copying machines in case you don t bring one along. 3) SHOW 2016 MEXICAN TRIATHLON FEDERATION MEMBERSHIP. If you fail to bring your affiliation receipt, go directly to packet pick up and then to the information booth where someone will help you retrieve your membership number. 4) PACKET PICK UP. Go to the assigned queue according your bib number. Hand in your documents (signed waiver, official ID) and pick up your race packet. 5) T-SHIRT PICK UP. After collecting your packet go to the T-shirt hand in and request your size (subject to availability). 6) INFORMATION BOOTH. If you have any problems or doubts concerning your registration, go the information booth where our staff will gladly assist you. 7) CHECK YOUR TIMING CHIP. Body Marking Body marking will take place at the race venue during bike check in. Important: Please do not apply sun block before body marking. On Sunday, September 11th, all athletes must check in their bikes for inspection and drop them at Transition Zone starting at 5:40 am. (Please see table schedules for each age group and distance). Bikes must be checked in with race number attached. The Organising Committee will not be held responsible for lost or forgotten objects in transition zone. There will be mechanical service at Transition Zone on Sunday and at packet pick up on Saturday. 2

Athlete Briefings Hotel Cozumel & Resort 10 minutes from the Benito Juarez Park (Expo & Packet Pick Up). 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. Standard,, 14-15. 4:00 p.m. Ironkids. This is your chance to ask questions and solve any doubts you might have. Asdeporte has joined the Mexican Triathlon Federation in its initiative to raise awareness within the Triathlon Community about the preservation of the environment. Some of our actions that can be appreciated in our events with the Green Sport Seal are: Separation of waste in organic, plastic, carton and metal. Transition Zone Transition zone will open at 5:40 a.m. (see timetables). All participants should be out of Transition 15 minutes prior to their start and head out to the start line. There will not be surveillance after 12:00 p.m. in age group Transition Zone. The distance between water exit and transition zone is about 200m. Less production of waste material (garbage). The use of electronic means for communication. Recycling materials. Environment friendly materials used throughout. We invite you to join us in our environment friendly approach. Remember that there are assigned mounting and dismounting bike areas upon entering and exiting transition and that you must rack your bike properly before heading out to the run. * It is strictly forbidden to leave bags, backpacks or other objects in Transition Zone. You may only leave your bike, helmet, shoes, sunglasses, cap, towel and racing equipment in general. Clothes and other belongings may be checked in the wardrobe which will be located alongside Transition Zone. There will be mechanical service at the Transition Area. 3

Warm Up Abastecimiento Athletes are allowed to warm up out of the water prior to their start. It is forbidden to warm up along the swim course, to do so is grounds for DQ. 1. It is really important to do a light warm up before you start swimming. Jog a few minutes to get your body ready for the effort to come. 2. It is not advisable to drink too much fluids prior to the start, rather do it within a couple of hours before the race so you don t bulk up and feel full when you swim. If you are a subscriber to ASMAS.MX, enter this platform with a minimum of 5 days prior to the celebration of the race and claim your benefit "Pick up your package at the event" in the booth ASMAS.MX 3. In the event of feeling anxious, lift your arm for help. The vessels that will be floating around for support will come to assist you. In the meantime float on your back, try to relax and keep calm. 4. We recommend that you get acquainted with the swim course during the days prior to your race in order to reduce anxiety and the consequences that come with it, such as hyperventilation. Pre Start 10 minutes previous to their start, participants will be called to their respective pre- start position, located at the beach of Marina FONATUR; all competitors will enter this zone and from there they will head to their start positions. It will be a wet start, inside the water. Awards Ceremony Sunday, September 11th 7:00 p.m. City Hall Main Square. 4

Run: There will be three aid stations along the 5k run course, offering Gatorade, water, ice and assistance from our volunteers. Medical Information DEHYDRATION. Athletes must take a proper amount of water and fluids prior to and during the race. Dehydration may cause colic, muscle cramps and poor performance. We recommend that you drink what you are used to and have tried during training sessions. HEAT RELATED HEALTH PROBLEMS: The weather may be quite warm and humid, therefore we recommend you wear light clothes and stay hydrated to avoid heat associated problems such as hyper thermia or heat shock. USE OF IV SOLUTIONS. In the event of dehydration athletes might be required to get IV treatment upon crossing the finish line or in other emergency cases. FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE MEDICAL TENT. ** IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU ARE AWARE OF THE AMOUNT OF FLUIDS YOU WILL TAKE DUTING THE RACE. AN EXCESS AS WELL AS A LACK OF FLUIDS MAY CAUSE SEVERE HEALTH PROBLEMS. *** THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE WISHE TO SEE ALL PARTICIPANTS FINISH THE RACE, THEREFORE WE SUGGEST YOU FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND MAKE USE OF AID STATIONS TO STAY HYDRATED. Course description Starts at the beach of Marina FONATUR heading south of the island. It is a rectangular shaped course where you will swim parallel to the beach counter clockwise. The swim for Ironkids will take place in Chankanaab. 14-15 yrs age group and Women s Novices will take place inside the Marina. Important: Ironkids ages 6 to 11 are allowed to use a life vest or arm bands if they wish to do so. Distances: SWIM : 1 lap of 750 m Stardard: 1 lap of 1,500 m 6 y 7 years old: 1 lap of 50 m 8 y 9 years old: 1 lap of 100 m 10 y 11 years old: 1 lap of 150 m 12-13 years old: 1 Lap of 300 m 14-15 years old: 1 lap of 400 m BIKE Upon exiting the Marina Fonatur take a right and head to the main road, turn back on the corresponding point signalled by judges and flags, then head back to transition zone. : 1 lap 20 km (turnaround at 10k). Olympic or Standard: 1 lap 40 km (turnaround at 20k). Ironkids 6-7 years old: 1 lap of 1 km (turnaround at 500 m). Chankanaab Ironkids 8-9 years old: 1 lap 2 km (turnaround at 1km). Chankanaab Ironkids 10-11 years old: 1 lap 4 km (turnaround at 2 km). Chankanaab Ironkids 12-13 years old: 2 laps 4 km (turnaround at 2 km). Chankanaab 14 a 15 years old: 1 lap 10 km (turnaround at 5km). - You must use the left lane only to pass other athletes, failure to do so may be grounds for an obstruction penalty. - There will be a motorbike providing mechanical assistance during the course. - Helmets must be properly strapped upon grabbing your bike until the moment you rack it back. - Respect the bike mounting and dismounting areas. Remember you may not ride your bike inside transition area. DRAFT IS NOT ALLOWED. RUN As you exit Marina Fonatur take a left into the main road (heading downtown) and turn back towards the Finish at Marina Fonatur. : 1 lap 5km Olympic or Standard: 2 laps 5km 6-7 years old: 1 lap de 500 mts (inside Chankanaab). 8-9 years old: 1 lap 750 mts (inside Chankanaab). 10-11 years old: 1 lap 1.km (Inside Chankanaab). 12-13 years old: 1 lap 1.5km km (Inside Chankanaab). 14-15 years old: 1 lap 2.5km Part of the run course will take place inside the Marina Fonatur and part of it will take place outside. It will be clearly marked every KM. There will be aid stations every km with water and Gatorade. Each athlete is responsible for counting their laps even though there will be judges on each turnaround. 6
