Our Vision: Swimming will be one of the premier aquatic sports in Tasmania, demonstrated through growing participation, outstanding performances and commercial sustainability. Purpose: The purpose of this Swimming Tasmania Strategic Plan 2012 2016 is to: 1. Enable the achievement of the vision 2. Provide focus for the growth, funding and development of the sport 3. Engage, lead and enhance the relationship with all of our stakeholders 4. Provide clarity for the essential supporting operational plans including: ST Community Swimming Plan, ST High Performance Plan, ST Commercial Development Plan, ST Marketing & Communications Plan, ST Risk Management Plan Our Goals: To ensure growth in participation, member recruitment, and greater community engagement To be respected as a well performing organisation providing quality experiences for its members To promote development throughout the sport from grass roots participation to performance swimming To ensure long term sustainability of the organisation both financially and through the development of our people, clubs, systems and processes Align appropriately with Swimming Australia s strategies for swimming in Australia. Progressively and inclusively lead swimming through excellence in governance and management Continue to provide clubs with the tools, including Go Club, to develop their capacity and capability to increase memberships Work with ASCTA to provide a collaborative approach to development for club coaches Work with SAL in assessing the usage and conditions of existing facilities and build closer relationships with facility operators Provide a development program that underpins opportunities for swimmers both at national and state level Actively promote development squads and pathways and ensure they have support from coaches and senior athletes Actively seek opportunities to access government and non-government community grants Build on new & existing partnerships Partnerships Measures: Communications and Marketing Plan developed and operating successfully Database of former swimmers, coaches, officials and supporters developed an maintained Outcome 3 Delivery of events to the highest standards Outcome 3 Flexibility in events programs Review the event structure and formats to ensure they meet the needs of all participants and promote growth (develop an assessment tool to measure feasibility, financial viability, effort required and potential benefits from events) Review the event structures, formats, timing, officiating and facility use to ensure they provide the flexibility to support quality and challenging development of our athletes Promote flexibility in the usage of venues to appropriately suit the level and size of competition Provide opportunities for new members to be introduced to the sport through innovation Provide opportunities for all swimmers to be accustomed to travelling to compete through a modified race calendar. Participation Measures: To grow membership by 300 in the first year of this plan and return to 2500 members by 2016 A redesigned events program which aligns with growth participation Performance Measures: One Tasmanian swimmer on the Australian Swim Team 10 swimmers in the top 10 in national age events 3-4 swimmers in the top 16 in national open events 4

30 qualifiers in national open and age events Ensure coaches are licensed Review Mechanisms: The Strategic Plan will be monitored regularly as part of the agenda at Board meetings and regular progress reports will be provided to stakeholders The Strategic Plan will be formally reviewed annually and may be adjusted to take into account changing environment or new opportunities Supporting Plans and Structures: The Strategic Plan will be supported by costed operational plans outlining tasks and activities, timelines, key performance indicators and resources required Swimming Tasmania will ensure its constitution, board structure, committees, operating structure and staff position descriptions reflect the goals, priorities and success indicators of the Strategic Plan 5
