Part II: The Lost Generation The Lost Generation premiered during Hemingway Days 2004. Again, Brian Gordon Sinclair captivated audiences with poignant and humorous tales. In Paris, Hemingway learned from such notables as Gertrude Stein and Ezra Pound. At the same time, his first marriage was destroyed by a new love, Pauline Pfeifer. A seven play master work created by Part I: Sunrise The Early Years Sunrise The Early Years premiered during Hemingway Days 2003. Canadian playwright Brian Gordon Sinclair burst upon the Key West festival with a convincing and evocative portrayal of Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway fished for trout in northern Michigan, fell in and out of love, and survived a major wounding in WW I before marrying Hadley Richardson. The final death scene from A Farewell to Arms left the audience in tears. The playwright is a genius. Steven Pratt, former columnist, Chicago Tribune Part III: Death in the Afternoon Death in the Afternoon previewed to Toronto s Spanish community and the Consul General of Spain. Part V: The Death Factory The Death Factory opened the Hemingway Days Festival in Key West in 2009. Part V continued the epic chronology known as Hemingway On Stage: The Road to Freedom. The play portrayed Hemingway s troubled relationship with Martha Gellhorn, his adventures during World War II and the deep feeling he held for his children. A seven play master work created by Part IV: The Man-Eaters The Man-Eaters also previewed to the Spanish Community at the request of the Consul General of Spain. It premiered during Hemingway Days 2006 in the presence of the Consul General of Canada. Act One presented a dramatization of The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber. Act Two switched to the fascist man-eaters of the Spanish Civil War and ended with Hemingway s stirring tribute to The American Dead in Spain. A good narrator, Sinclair pours his heart into his reenactments.
