Surface Preparation and Pretreatment Ferrous Metals a) Ensure that the correct surface pre-treatment has been carried out. Ensure the surface is clean, dry and intact - Desoto CN20 or Desoclean 45 solvent cleaner are recommended. Abrasive blast to a white metal finish or phosphate using an approved process, then immediately apply. b) If abrasive blasting in not a practical option, remove any loose corrosion or mill scale with a wire brush then thoroughly degrease the substrate and apply Aluminum Alloys a) Apply primer directly to freshly anodized chromated conversion coating pre-treated surfaces. b) If chemical pre-treatment is not an option, thoroughly degrease the substrate then apply PR30B allow to dry for a minimum of 1 hour then apply. Instructions for Use Hand stir or mechanically shake base material until all components are uniformly dispersed. Add base to activator and mix thoroughly. The material is now ready for use. Note: All products and components should be placed in ambient conditions of 15-30 C (59-86 F) for at least 24 hours prior to mixing and application. Application Guidelines Recommended Application Conditions: Temperature 15-35 C (59-95 F) Relative Humidity 30-85% Application: Apply a wet on wet double track coat to achieve the recommended dry film thickness of 30-50 µm. If additional protection is specified, a further double track coat can be applied after the first double track has flashed off for 10-15 minutes. A total of 60-100 µm dry film thickness should be achieved. Theoretical Coverage: (ready for use) 10 m²/lt @ 40 µm dry film thickness 400 ft/us gal @ 1.6 mil dry film thickness Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 30-50 µm or 60-100 µm 1.2-2 mil or 2.4-4 mil Dry Film Density: 1.79 g/cm³ 14.9 lbs./us gal Dry Film Weight: 72 g/m² @ 40 µm dry film thickness 0.014 lbs/ft² @ 1.6 mil dry film thickness Note: These application guidelines represent PPG s best advice for usage in standard conditions. Some parameters will be influenced by environmental conditions, equipment settings, and other variables. Page 3
