CLOSED HAND: The hand is closed and the thumb is against the index finger. FLAT HAND: The fingers are straight and together. OPEN HAND: The fingers and thumb are straight and spread apart. CLAWED HAND: The fingers are extended and bent and spread apart. BENT HAND: The fingers are straight and together and bent at the palm knuckles. C HAND: The hand is closed with index finger and thumb extended and curved in a C shape. O HAND: The tip of the index finger touches the tip of the thumb to form an O shape.

* Fingers are identified (from the thumb) as index, middle finger, ring finger and little finger. * Signs are drawn and described as right-handed with right hand written R. and left hand L. L HAND: The hand is closed with the index finger and thumb extended in L shape. M HAND: The index, middle and ring fingers are extended, straight and held together. N HAND: The index and middle fingers are extended, straight and held together. IRISH T HAND: (From T in Irish fingerspelling). The hand is closed with the index finger bent round the top of the thumb. V HAND: The index and middle fingers are extended and spread apart. Y HAND: The hand is closed with the little finger and thumb extended. FULL C HAND: The thumb is curved and the fingers are held together and curved in a C shape. FULL O HAND: The tips of fingers and thumb are held together to form an O shape.

Apple Full C hand twists upwards and forwards from the wrist in front of the mouth like taking a bite.

Butterfly Hands are held crossed with thumbs interlocked. Hands bend from the wrists in flapping movements like wings.

Cat Fingers flex into clawed hands as hands make short repeated outward movements from the sides of the mouth.
