The Congressional Award Foundation s Golf Classic Representative Marc Veasey (TX33) lines up his putt at the 2015 Golf Classic. EVENT OVERVIEW On Monday, October 2, 2017, The Congressional Award Foundation will hold its Twenty-Third Annual Congressional Award Golf Classic. This event brings together current and former Members of Congress, as well as prominent guests such as professional athletes, business, and civic leaders. This year we ll be teeing-off at the beautiful TPC Potomac Golf Course at Avenel Farm, in Potomac, Maryland. Recently redesigned by golf s most elite architects, the course is among those of the PGA Tour s acclaimed TPC Network of clubs. Proceeds from this event will benefit the youth and development of our program the only charity of the U.S. Congress. THE CONGRESSIONAL AWARD FOUNDATION The primary goal of The Congressional Award Foundation is to promote and recognize initiative, service, and achievement in America s youth. We strive to help young people realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Young people register for The Congressional Award and set personally challenging goals in four program areas Voluntary Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration. These diverse areas encourage young people to discover new talents, learn about the world around them, and to take positive action in their communities. The beauty of The Congressional Award is that all young people, regardless of their situation, can qualify for an award. The program has no minimum grade point average requirements. It accommodates youth with special needs or disabilities, and is completely noncompetitive.
