No stallions may be exhibited except colts under 1 year of age (actual age). 2. Any unruly animal will be excused from the show by the steward. 3. All animals will show under the following classes: Draft Horse or Pony Horse over 58 Pony 58 and under 4. All tack must be serviceable, safe and clean. Silver outfits will not count over good, serviceable tack. A maximum size for the tack storage boxes is 48 wide, 38 deep and 58 high. 5. Junior Exhibitors 4-H members 13 years old and under on January 1 of current year. Senior Exhibitors 4-H members 14 and over on January 1 of current year. 6. 4-H horse and pony projects shall be judged on the basis of the member s ability to train, groom and show the animal disregarding the individual merits of the horse. 7. Exhibitors in the Junior Fair are not permitted to wear any type of commercial advertisement or names on their clothing while in the show ring. 8. es will be divided into equal groups according to age of member if they need to be split. This will be done after entries are in the Junior Fair Office. Each class will be awarded one trophy and 10 ribbons. 9. Judging will be based on the recommendations in the publication Uniform Rules for 4-H Horse Shows, and Wayne County 4-H Horse Committee By-Laws. 10. Each exhibitor may show in only one reining class per project animal (not including freestyle). 11. Members will not be excused from school unless they participate in at least one class on that day. 12. Members may enter no more than three (3) Dressage classes per horse/rider combination. 13. Members who stable equine at the Wayne County Fair and do not show each and every equine in any class will be barred from showing any equine at the Fair the following year and will forfeit their premium. 14. Walk-trot classes are open to first and second year exhibitors in this department or others with the Horse Committee s approval. Members who have previously shown in canter classes are not eligible. 15. If entering a class with jumps, indicate on fair entry the level or height of jump. 16. A trophy recipient must turn into their advisor in a stamped and addressed envelope a thank you note to the trophy sponsor (one note for each trophy received) before premium money will be distributed to the member. This should be done prior to the end of the fair. 17. All Rotating Trophy recipients must sign an agreement for the trophy between the recipient and Horse Committee. This agreement is available in the announcer s booth and must be signed the day the trophy is awarded. ALL ROTATING TROPHIES MUST BE RETURNED BY AUGUST 1 OF THE FOLLOWING YEAR TO THE JUNIOR FAIR OFFICE (located on the fairgrounds), or the Extension Office. 18. The following is a listing of Rotating Trophies and their requirements: Dwight & Bonnie McKee Rotating Trophy: awarded to the winner of the Versatility class Zimmerman Memorial Rotating Trophy: awarded to the high point contest senior participant in Poles, Barrels and New Stakes Race. In case of a tie, those participants tied for first will rerun the last class offered in the contest show program. Points for the trophy will be awarded in each contest class as follows: 1st 5; 2nd 4; 3rd 3; 4th 2; 5th 1. Owen Massaro Rotating Trophy: awarded to the winner of the Tenderfoot Showmanship class. Quota International Rotating Trophy: awarded to the Junior Horsemanship Champion. John Glasgow Rotating Trophy: awarded to the Junior Trail class winner. Horizon Equine Veterinary Clinic Rotating Trophy: awarded to the Junior English Equitation Champion. The Sue Coen Rotating Trophy: awarded to the winner of the Senior Hunt Seat Equitation Over Fences. Peg Bart Rotating Trophy: awarded to the individual with the high score of Training Level test 3 and First Level 1 test (combined score). Lake Erie College Advanced Dressage Rotating Trophy: awarded to the individual with the high combined score of First Level Test 2 and First Level Test 3.

Please refer to August member letter (LINK). Policy is also posted in the horse barn. 20. Walk Trot members may show only ONE equine project at the Wayne County Fair. 21. No member may bring more than two (2) equine to the Fair. In case of a shortage of stalls, the 4-H Horse Committee may request that members stall only one animal in the 4-H barn. 22. Exhibitors showing in Beginner Canter may not cross enter into their age group unless that same class is not offered for the beginner division. 23. Members may only show in one western showmanship class per horse/rider combination, except for tenderfoot. Members must enter the division (pleasure/contest) they predominately show in. Entries are subject to final approval by the 4-H Horse committee. 24. Contest classes will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 10. Tack inspection will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. 25. Members be aware of the Body Condition Score requirements in the Uniform rules for 4-H Horse Shows. If your horse/pony has a body score less than 4 you will not be able to exhibit or show your horse/pony at the Fair. 26. No person shall alter, in any way change, or attempt to hide the natural markings of a horse by surgery, dye or in any other manner. The horse entered, stalled, and shown at the Wayne County Fair must match, identically in appearance, the horse pictured and described on the horse ID paperwork turned into the Extension Office June 1st of that year. The use of hoof dressing, including dressings that change the color of the feet, is optional and is not considered in judging. 27. Ground Roping: any 4-H or FFA member may show in the Ground Roping as long as they have completed a 4-H or FFA project of any kind during that 4-H year. 28. Only the 4-H member can ride their horse/pony until the completion of Thursday s show. 29. Exhibitors cannot show the same horse in Ranch Pleasure and Western Pleasure at the same show. 30. Any horse left unattended, stall door must be closed. 4-H MEMBERS: PLEASE INDICATE ON YOUR FAIR ENTRY FORM THE NUMBER OF HORSES/ PONIES YOU ARE BRINGING TO THE FAIR. Note: You cannot bring more than two (2) equine animals. All youth age 19 and under, participating in any 4-H equestrian activity, are required to wear properly fitted protective headgear which meets or exceeds current ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)/ SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards with the chin harness securely fastened at all times while riding or driving an equine. Section No. 570 VERSATILITY, FREESTYLE REINING, NOT SO EXTREME TRAIL, AND ROPING Saturday Septmber 9th 2:00 p.m. 1 Versatility A. There will be 4 events. 1. Showmanship (English or Western) 4-H Rule Book 2. English Equitation 4-H Rule Book 3. Reining 4-H Rule Book 4. Barrel Race (Cloverleaf) 4-H Rule Book B. Entire class is one entry, one rider basis. The same exhibitor must ride the same horse in all divisions. C. Open to senior members with advisors permission. D. No entry permitted to leave arena after class has started. E. All tack changes will be made in the arena or other designated area. Two attendants will be permitted during tack changes to assist the rider. All changes must be made and attendants must be out of arena within the five-minute time limit or participant will be eliminated from the next event, but must remain in the arena. F. Events to be shown in appropriate tack and clothing. G. No person other than exhibitor will be permitted to ride entry or advise exhibitor during class (including five- minute breaks). H. Each event will be judged separately. The judge or judges will score separately and their scores will be combined for the placing in each event. Each of the judges placing each event will award points as follows: 1st 10 points, 2nd 9 points, 3rd 8 points, 4th 7 points, 5th 6 points, 6th 5 points, 7th 4 points, 8th 3 points, 9th 2 points, 10th 1 point. No points or placing awarded if off course in barrels. 30
