Page 3 We are officially in full-swing, literally pun-intended, for the 2015 Season. With Easter Brunch this Sunday, and a full reservation list, followed by the Masters golf tournament next week, it is exciting what 2015 will bring with all our recent improvements, and many regular and exciting events planned for Tustin Ranch. We certainly thank all our Members and Regular Players and Guests for your loyalty to Tustin Ranch. As of this newsletter, I can officially proclaim that our bunker remodel project is finally completed. Javier Avalos, Golf Course Superintendent, and the entire maintenance crew are to be commended for their hard work on this project. As of April 1 st, the final particles of sand were installed on # s 12, 14, and 16 greens. We believe this completion will continue to provide playing quality and appearance at Tustin Ranch for years to come. Recently, Governor Jerry Brown has furthered the efforts for water use reduction mandates in the state of California. Specifically stated was golf courses.. need to make significant cuts in water use for turf irrigation, and estimated measurements stated in the order have a 25% reduction as the - Steve Plummer target. The California Golf Industry has made great strides in water reduction over the past several years already, and intends to continue to lead the way in conserving this resource. Current statistics are that golf courses use less than 1% of the state s potable water, and over 33% of golf courses already use reclaimed water for irrigation. The California Alliance for Golf is currently promoting all 800+ California golf courses to be on reclaimed water, and continues to work on initiatives for funding infrastructure to deliver it to the remaining 60+%. Fortunately, Tustin Ranch Golf Club and many of Orange County golf courses are already ahead of this curve. With the exception of a small strip around the clubhouse patios, Tustin Ranch is irrigated with 100% reclaimed water from IRWD. Though our reclaimed source will have less mandated restriction on its usage, we have always worked to be good stewards for conserving, and normally stay at about 80% of our allotted usage. In addition, even though it is reclaimed used for irrigating our golf course turf (turf is the best bio-filter for water going back into the soil), this water will at some point be back into the natural water cycle and every drop is precious. Thus, we are continuing to work on turf reduction to further reduce our footprint for water usage. Up to 6 acres of out-of-play turf areas are in the works in the short term, and we are working on a long-term plan to continue reduction while enhancing the facility at the same time. More information to come as we solidify plans moving forward. Finally, we are very blessed at Tustin Ranch to have many long-term, stable staff members some with 25+ years of service being employed as early as 1988 when the golf course was in construction. As we start the new golf season, we have two staff members -- Cornelio Avalos, Lead Gardener; and Jose Lara, Senior Line Cook -- who have both announced they are retiring as of early April. Both have 25 years service at Tustin Ranch Golf Club, we thank them whole heartedly for their efforts, and definitely wish them all the best of times and enjoyment in retirement. Thank you Jose and Cornelio! Sincerely, Steve Plummer, CGCS

Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening and is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented.
