Adult Tournament Registration Packet March 31 st - April 2 nd, 2017 @ Kensington Valley Ice House & Hartland Ice House The most fun you will have at an Adult Hockey tournament for Men and Women 9 Divisions - 60 Teams - 109 Games - over 750 Adult League Players Lots of Beer Pizza - Prizes Hockey Trivia Contests! TOURNAMENT AND ENTRY DETAILS: Team Entry Fee is $850.00, and is First Come, First Served. All teams will receive a free pizza at our Top Shelf Pub after your Friday game Age eligible teams receive a case of beer after each regular round game delivered to your locker room. First place prizes will be awarded to each division championship team. Games start at 4:00 on Friday All players must be USA Hockey Registered for the 2016/17 season (September 1 st - August 31 st ) All Players must be 21 years of age or older by the start date of the tournament. Age exceptions may be made for goaltenders that must be at least 18. 3 game guarantee, 1 game Friday, 2 Saturday, championship games Sunday morning. The game schedule will be posted on our website at www.kensingtonvalleyicehouse.com and will be e-mailed to the team contacts no later than one week prior to the event. ENTRY DEADLINE IS FRIDAY MARCH 10th This tournament sells out early every year so division(s) could close earlier. Full payment must be submitted with registrations, no spots will be held, no exceptions. Discounted Hotel Tournament Rate at Courtyard by Marriot in Brighton 810-225-9200 TOURNAMENT FORMAT: Games will be played at Kensington Valley Ice House and Hartland Ice House. A minimum of four teams is required to run a division. The maximum number of teams will depend on the amount of teams entered in the overall event. Each regular game will consist of three 10 minute stop time periods with a three minute warm-up that will start when the Zamboni doors close. There will be an ice resurface before each game. Championship games will be three 12 minute periods. Three preliminary round robin games will be played by each team within their division (one game Friday, two games Saturday) that will determine which teams will advance from each division to the playoff round. Standings and tie-breaker information will be provided to each team captain and will be posted throughout the weekend. All playoff round games (Championship and Semi-Final) will be played on Sunday. Semi- Final games will be played ONLY when there is sufficient ice time available, and ONLY in divisions of eight teams or more. If a preliminary round robin game ends in a tie a best of three player round robin shootout will be utilized. If still tied a sudden death shootout will take place with each team getting a shot until there is a winner. For Semi-Final (if needed) and Championship games only: If a playoff round game ends in a tie a five minute 4 on 4 sudden death overtime period will be played prior to the shootout format above. . Division Selection Guidelines It is advised that you place your team based on the experience of your strongest players as opposed to your weaker players. Tournament Director reserves the right to place teams in the proper division. ALL DIVISIONS ARE NON-CHECK DIVISIONS Over 21 MENS RED DIVISION OVER 21 Team is comprised of primarily advanced level players 21 years of age and older. Players may have Junior A, B, C, Non- Varsity College (ACHA), Midget Major, Prep or Varsity High School playing experience. Teams may be comparable to traditional high B or low A level adult house leagues. (8 Teams Maximum) WHITE DIVISION OVER 21 Team is comprised primarily of experienced adult players 21 years of age and older with intermediate level skills. Some players may have high school, competitive midget or Junior C playing experience. These teams may be comparable to traditional high C or low B level adult house league teams. (8 Teams Maximum) BLUE DIVISION OVER 21 Team is comprised primarily of less experienced adult players 21 years of age and older. A few players may have up to high school playing experience, but most of the team has limited youth playing experience or several years playing as an adult. These teams may be comparable to traditional C level adult house league teams. (8 Teams Maximum) OVER 30 MENS OVER 30 COMPETITIVE Team is comprised of players 30 years of age and older.. These teams may be comparable to traditional low B or C level adult house league teams. (8 teams Maximum) OVER 30 REC - Team is comprised of adult players 30 years of age and older. With a mixture of players that may have 5+ years of beginner adult experience and adult players with 1-5 years of entry level playing experience. For teams that play in Adult B C or D levels. (8 teams maximum) OVER 30 NOVICE New division this year. Team is entirely comprised of entry level adult players 30 years of age and older. Players should be beginners and novice skill level. Players would be suitable for a Rec house C or D teams, especially teams with a median age of over 40 players. (8 teams maximum) WOMENS DIVISIONS WOMENS COMPETITIVE REC Team is comprised mainly of competitive (travel league) level players. Players that have 5 + years of experience, high school or college exp that are seeking competitive play. WOMENS RECREATIONAL Team is comprised of mostly recreational/ house league level players. Although some players may have 5+ years of playing experience (either as an adult or a youth), this experience is not to have exceeded the adult novice, or beginner youth levels. These teams may be comparable to traditional low C or D level adult house league teams. WOMENS NOVICE/BEGINNER OVER 21 - Team is entirely comprised of entry level adult players Although a small number of players may have 5+ years of beginner adult experience, the majority of the team consists of adult players with 1-5 years of entry level playing experience. Top Shelf Spring Classic Adult Tournament TOURNAMENT RULES AND STRUCTURE March 31 st April 2 nd,2017 RULES: USA Hockey playing rules are in effect except for some modifications listed below. All players are required to follow USA Hockey equipment recommendations. This is a non-checking event. Body checking is not permitted at any level. Slap shots are allowed at all levels. Two line passes are permitted. The Blue line will be used for icing. The tag-up rule will be used for off-sides. Fighting WILL NOT be tolerated. Any players involved in a fight as deemed by the game officials will receive an automatic game misconduct (1 game suspension) and could result in expulsion from the tournament and future USA Hockey tournaments. Four minor penalties to one player in any game results in an automatic game ejection (remainder of current game). Major penalties such as spearing or butt-ending could result in expulsion from the tournament. Each team is allowed one time out per game. 3 rd Period only: if the goal differential is six or greater run time shall be utilized. If at anytime during the 3 rd period the differential goes back under six goals stop time shall be reinstated. All teams must have home (light) and away (dark) jerseys. Any team who willingly forfeits a game will not be eligible for semi-final or final games in the event, and may face future ineligibility at future USA Hockey events (Classics, Nationals, alternative playing opportunities). Illegal players and teams: - Any player(s) that participated at any time during the current season (after September 1 st ) at any elite professional level (NHL, AHL, Europe) or on an NCAA Division I or III team are NOT eligible for this tournament. - Any player(s) who participated in any other professional leagues (ECHL, CHL, IHL, UHL, SPHL, and AAHA) after December 31 st of the current season are NOT eligible for this tournament. - If the tournament director(s) determine that an illegal player has participated in the tournament: (1) the player(s) shall be immediately removed from the tournament. (2) The team using the ineligible player(s) will receive a 1-0 forfeit in each of the games played with the illegal player(s). - If it is determined by the tournament director(s) at any point during the preliminary round games that a team (in the RED division and below) as a whole are far above their competition that team will be permitted to play the three game guarantee, but will receive a 1-0 forfeit loss for those games and will not be permitted to advance to the championship round. - All Players on the roster must play in at least one preliminary round game to be eligible for the playoff round. - Players may only play on one team in the tournament. Players cannot play for multiple teams in multiple divisions. Exceptions may be made for goaltenders in extenuating circumstances. - Game officials (referees) working games in the tournament are NOT PERMITTED to play for any team in the divisions that they officiate. *THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR(S) RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE ANY DECISIONS REGARDING TOURNAMENT RULES, FORMAT, ETC. FOR THE OVERALL GOOD OF THE EVENT.
