GOLF & GREENS Meet Grant Harvey! My name is Grant Harvey, Golf Course Assistant Superintendent, here at Fayetteville Country Club. First and foremost, let me tell you how excited I am to be working at FCC under Brandon Nichols and with the most friendly staff and members around. I was born and raised in Magnolia, Arkansas. My mother, Helen Harvey, retired from teaching kindergarten in Magnolia after 30 years. My father, Phil Harvey, was an investment professional, but was forced to retire early, due to medical problems. I graduated from Magnolia High School in 2003 where I played on the varsity golf team from grades 9-12. My father had me on the golf course playing golf ever since I was three years old at the Magnolia Country Club. This is when my love of golf grew more and more every year. I absolutely knew I wanted to do something in the golf industry but just wasn t sure what, until I started a summer job at The Alotian Club, currently ranked 27 th in the country by Golf digest. The Alotian Club is where my career started, working for the maintenance department during the summer between semesters at UALR. This is the time I met, Jim Colo, former Golf Course Superintendent at The Alotian Club, but currently Golf Course Superintendent at Naples National Golf Club in Naples, Fl. Jim saw great potential in me and took me under his wing to teach me everything he knows about running a pristine golf course. But first, I needed to finish school. I graduated with honors from Rutgers University with a 2-year Golf Course Maintenance Certification. After graduating, I worked as an intern at Augusta National Golf Club, currently ranked 2 nd in the country by Golf Digest for the 2013 Masters. It was shortly after the Masters was over I had a great opportunity to work for Jim Colo again at Naples National Golf Club as the 2 nd Assistant Superintendent. It was also in Naples that I had another great opportunity to grow my career even more by becoming the 1 st Assistant Superintendent at Collier s Reserve Country Club. After spending 5 years in Florida, I started missing home and knew I wanted to plant my roots somewhere in NWA to continue my career. I was grateful to find myself at such a great establishment, Fayetteville Country Club. To every one of the members and staff, thank you for the kind welcoming. I am looking forward to continuing my career at such a great club and providing the best playing conditions on the golf course.

FOOD & BEVERAGE Chef s Cravings: There has been lots of rain this month, as well as allergy and sinus issues floating around. For over a week now I have dealt with these allergy issues and finally went back to the doctor to get a sinus cocktail shot to end this for good, so feeling back to myself now. Speaking of the end, we have now arrived once again at the end of the summer. We just finished Member/Member weekend as well as only a week left of the pool. At this point with school back in session, it has been very quiet down there, except for this past Saturday s Member/Member Splash Bash. It looked like a great time was had by all and lots of delicious barbeque! Yours truly will be heading to Chicago this week for the wrestling podcast convention and wrestling show I spoke of a few months back. The convention is called Starrcast and the independent wrestling show is called ALL IN. The cool part about it is we, (my co host Tommy and I) will be getting our name out there with the convention as well as the live show we will be doing on Friday the 31 st of August. The show on September 1st, ALL IN is the first time ever that 3 independent wrestlers have self-financed and sold out 10,000 seats, in under 30 minutes! That s a big deal for us wrestling fans and the direction of the business. After all of this and I return to work on Labor day, Peter and I will be working on a new menu and many other events and dinners that the membership will not want to miss out on. There is also 1 continent left in our Around the World in a Summer dinner series for next weekend, September 8th and that is North America, exciting right? We live in North America but that consists of more than just America for anybody needing a geography lesson, so stay tuned to find out the menu. - Chef Levi Zindl Chef s Table Looking for a fun dinner idea? Let Chef Levi create a menu for you and your guests while you sit back and watch all the action! $60 per person (includes wine pairings) Friday & Saturday evenings for 2-8 people.
