Facilities With a proud heritage that stretches back over 126 years, the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron is one of Australia s premier yacht clubs. Overlooking the beautiful Manly Boat Harbour, the Squadron is still the place for boaties to meet, compete and socialise. The Squadron has evolved into a multi-faceted organisation and our members, some third and fourth generation families, enjoy a comprehensive range of facilities. Receive regular e-news online to keep you up to date and a seasonal Club Magazine Mainsheet Full range of RQYS branded merchandise RQYS Canaipa, our down-the-bay premises on the north east tip of Russell Island is the jewel in the RQYS Crown having live-in caretakers who keep the salt water pool, amenities block of showers, toilets and laundry, covered barbeque, picnic areas and large open lawns ready for member visits. All weather anchorage is available for boats in the near vicinity and mooring available for tenders at the pontoon. Cruising Groups both power and sail explore the Bay and surrounds every month. Reciprocal arrangements with the Queensland Cricketers Club, Brisbane Polo Club, Brisbane Racing Club, Southport Yacht club, Sandringham Yacht Club, Royal Perth Yacht Club, Royal Thames Yacht Club, Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Yacht Club and Seattle Yacht Club. There are no formal reciprocal rights established with clubs world wide, however, a Letter of Introduction is available to members who are travelling and clubs will usually extend a welcome and invitation into their club to financial RQYS members.

Full Membership Available to persons 25 years of age and over, living inside a 100km radius of the Brisbane GPO. Boat owners &/or those who hold a Sub-lease of Marina Berth. Voting rights. 10% Discount on Food and Beverage. (Personal membership only spouse or partner must be signed in when on the premises if not a member). Full Membership for Spouse/Partner - Available to spouse/partner of Life, Full, Senior and Senior Long Term members only. Voting rights. 10% Discount on Food and Beverage. Country Membership Available to persons 25 years of age and over, living within a 100 to 400 km radius of the Brisbane GPO. Boat owners &/or those who hold a Sub-lease of Marina Berth. Voting rights. 10% Discount on Food and Beverage. Crew Membership Available to persons 24 yrs and over- no residency stipulation allows members to use the Squadron s hospitality areas and crew on boats. This type of membership is not available to boat owners or skippers of boats. Young Adult - Available to persons 18 to 24 years of age, no residency stipulation. Voting rights. 10% Discount on Food and Beverage. Free boat storage. Junior - Available to persons 0 to 17 years, no residency stipulation. No voting rights. Free boat storage. Schools Racing Available to school students participating in School & Fleet Racing. Training with school only and no Squadron racing upgrade to Junior membership available. No voting rights or parking for parents available in RQYS Marina. NON BOATING Social Available to persons 18 years and over - Social Activities only in RQ Bar, Boardwalk Café and Flags Function Room. No voting rights or access to RQYS Marina or RQYS Canaipa. Boat ownership, crewing and sailing are not available to this category of membership. Associate Membership Available to spouse/partner of all categories (except for Junior). Allows entry to the Squadron grounds and licensed areas. No voting rights or sailing. OTHER Family Membership In your immediate family there are 1 or 2 parent/guardians in any category of membership and any number of Junior and/or Young Adult members who reside at the same address. Will be entitled to a 10% discount on annual subscriptions. Class Association Membership 5 or more persons who are going to actively participate in sailing and are members of a class association affiliated with Yachting Queensland will be exempt from payment of entrance fee on joining.

Membership Process PLEASE READ Membership is dependent on your age, residential address, boat ownership and how you would like to use the Squadron. The Squadron year runs from 1 May through to 30 April. So that we can get the membership process underway, please follow these simple guidelines Complete the Membership Application Form Please complete all details and ensure that you sign your application form and lodge with the Squadron office. Referees Two RQYS current financial members are required to propose and second your nomination for membership. If you do not know anyone to do this we will organise a meeting with a member of Membership Committee and a Provisional membership is offered for the first 12 months at the Squadron. It is an informal meeting which takes about 15 minutes. Payment Payment is required at the time of lodging your application. Membership process for pending new member Temporary Membership will be issued when you lodge your application so that Squadron facilities are available to you immediately. If entry is required to the grounds from this date a Temporary Visitors Tag can be requested from the office. Payment of a refundable deposit is required, however fuel cannot be obtained with this temporary tag. Depending on the date of application, approval of your membership can take up to 6-8 weeks. Your membership application will: 1. Go to Membership Committee for approval. (Membership Committee meet on the 1 st Thursday of the month) 2. Go to General Committee for final approval. (General Committee meet on the last Thursday of the month) 3. If approval is granted, your membership card, windscreen sticker and New Members Welcome and Information Book will be sent to you in the first week of the next month. After final approval you are a member of the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. If you have a Temporary Visitors Tag, this should then be returned to the Squadron office. Direct Transfer Authority All members are to complete the Authority if they wish to have access to a house account which will allow the charging of any goods or services fuel, merchandise, meals, drinks, bottle shop, marina charges or functions. Your house account will operate under the same number as your membership number. A statement is issued within the first week of the month allowing you the opportunity to query the account prior to direct transfer occurring on the 27 th of each month. Access to Fuel Access to the Squadron s 24 hour fuel system (diesel & unleaded) is available to members through their gate access touch tag. A direct transfer must be held at the office, as fuel obtained by you will be charged directly to your account. A four-digit pin number is required. Please advise the office of this number and it can be linked to your touch tag/s.
