GET READY TO JOIN IN THE GAMES PARTY GET INVOLVED
A warm welcome 02 Your very own supporter s guide The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games is finally here. And, from small clubs to local businesses, we want as many people as possible to show their support. There are lots of official events going on all over the country. But, plenty of people are also organising their own events to celebrate this special occasion. If you re planning on doing something for The Games, then this handy booklet is for you. If you re a commercial organisation and you want to join in the The Games party, please skip to page 26 of this booklet, as the guidelines on pages 4-24 do not apply to you. On page 26, you ll find all the relevant information you need. As a large part of Glasgow 2014 funding comes from our official sponsors, they pay for the rights to use certain logos, names, icons, typefaces and photography related to The Games. Which means there are certain elements that can t be used. But, don t worry, there are still plenty of ways that you can show your support and join in the party.

15 A few things to avoid
A few things to avoid 16 To show your support, please don t use... As we mentioned earlier, some logos, names, icons, typefaces and images are only able to be used by our official sponsors. In the next few pages we ll take you through the elements that you re not able to use when showing your support for The Games.
Please don t use Logos 17 This includes all versions of the official Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games logo, plus other similar designs that cover a range of related events.
Please don t use Name & Typeface 18 The official name Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games can only be used by our sponsors. Any variations on this name are out too such as Glasgow 2014 or Commonwealth Games. But, don t worry, all you need to do is simply call them The Games or Our Games. 2014 Pro is a font that s been specially created just for the Commonwealth Games. For consistency and clarity, it can only be used on official games materials. But remember, you can use Futura and Century Gothic instead. The Games abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ 1234567890
Please don t use Pictograms 19 These simple sports icons are used to highlight particular sporting events. So, to avoid any confusion, they can only be used on official materials.
20 Please don t use Mascot & Tartan We all love our official games mascot, Clyde. But, we can t have him turning up everywhere otherwise it ll tire the poor fellow out. Don t use the Clyde font or visuals unless they have been provided in one of our handy toolkits. A games in Scotland wouldn t be complete without our very own tartan. But, please don t use it on anything you create, as it s for official use only.
21 A little extra help
A little extra help 22 Above all else, we want everyone to join in The Games party. And there are plenty of great materials here that you can use to show your support. But, the main thing is to have some fun. To help, in here we ll show you where you can go to download some posters and packs. And that s it. There s no need for you to get in touch with us. And no need for us to approve any of your work. All you have to do is have some fun and stick to the guidelines set out in this booklet.
