Katandra West Primary School Page 2 ATHLETIC SPORTS The Interschool Athletic Sports are being held on Friday 23rd March at McEwen Reserve, Shepparton. This is located next to the basketball stadium on the corner of Numurkah Road and Brauman Street, Shepparton. School does not provide bus travel for the day, so parents are asked to transport their children to the Athletics Day. For those unable to attend please make alternative transport arrangements with other families to be sure your children do not miss this great day. We are looking for parent helpers on the day, please note parent helpers will be with their child s group, so they can observe them competing on the day. There will be a food van available. Please ensure your child has plenty of snacks and a drink bottle as it is a physically demanding day. A program of events will be handed out with the next newsletter, you can bring this along on the day. Students will need to report to Karen Daldy or their teacher when they arrive at McEwen Reserve to receive their name cards. Look for our school banner. Please arrive at McEwen Reserve by 9.00 am. Competition commences at 9.30 a.m. Students are to be responsible for their own belongings for the day. Please ensure drink bottles, lunch boxes and hats are clearly labelled. Year 5/6 Canberra Camp Last week I attended the 5/6 Canberra camp which was a fantastic week. I would like to congratulate all the students on their behaviour. It was very common for the tour guides to compliment our group after the sessions saying how well the kids used their manners and respected other members of the public. FROM THE ACTING PRINCIPAL Jedd Wright I would like to thank Sam Smith and Jo Harry for offering their time to come along and help the students get the most out of the week. Without parent helpers such trips wouldn t be able to run. Some of the highlights of the trip included the War Memorial where Cooper and Jazmyn were lucky enough to lay a wreath at the Last Pope ceremony and the tour of New Parliament House. Marcia Update Marcia s recovery is continuing to progress well and she had a very successful visit to the surgeon this week. She is now out of her cast and is hoping to be able to get around on crutches in the next few weeks! School Bus Could you please be at your stop 10 minutes before the due time of arrival. Connie
