This is the third time in program history the Buckeyes have hosted the championships (1995 and 2001). QUICK HITS Senior co-captain Brandon Wynn has won 18-consecutive rings events and hast not lost on the even since September 2009. The two-time Big Ten champion will also look to defend his NCAA title this weekend. Wynn became the first Buckeye in program history to win back-to-back Big Ten rings titles. Five Buckeyes earned Big Ten medals at the 2011 Big Ten Championships April 1-2 in Chamapaign, Ill. Junior Mike Behles earned first team All-Big Ten status with a 16.250 vault to share the event title. Freshman Kris Done notched second place in the all-around conference championships with an 86.600 to earn first team All-Big Ten honors. Ohio State claimed regular season-highs on floor exercise (58.450), rings (59.650), vault (63.000), parallel bars (56.950) March 12 vs. the Cornhuskers and Fighting Illini at St. John Arena. Freshman Jeff Treleaven has won a team-high four vault titles this season, including a seasonhigh 16.400 mark March 12 in the tri-meet vs. Nebraska and Illinois. He has claimed 13 Top 3 finishes (7 - vault; 5 - floor; 1 - parallel bars). Junior Ty Echard, a 2009 All-American, has won seven pommel horse titles in 2011, including seven Top 3 finishes. Echard posted a season-high 15.550 vs. Brockport Feb. 12 in St. John Arena. He finished second at the Big Ten championships for the second consecutive season. Done leads the squad on high bar with a season-high 15.25 set March 12 vs. Illinois and Nebraska. athletics THE LOGISTICS The national qualifier is comprised of 12 teams with the field split into two qualifying sessions held Thursday. Ohio State, as the seventh seed, will start the competition on rings at 7 p.m. and will be joined by No.2 Stanford (parallel bars), No.3 California (vault), No. 6 Michigan (bye), No.10 Nebraska (high bar), No.11 Iowa (floor exercise) and the individual and all-around competitors (pommel horse). Session one starts at 1 p.m. with No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 4 Illinois, No. 5 Penn State, No. 8 Minnesota, No.9 Air Force and No. 12 UIC in the rotations. Session two starts at 7 p.m. with No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 3 Michigan, No. 6 California, No. 7 Minnesota, No. 10 Nebraska and No. 11 Iowa in the grouping. NATIONAL CHAMPIONS Ohio State gymnasts have earned 25 NCAA individual championships. Senior co-captain Brandon Wynn is the reigning 2010 national champion on rings. Former Buckeye and current interim co-head coach Blaine Wilson leads the OSU record books with six national championships.

ALL-AMERICA NODS Since Don Perry first earned All-America status on the trampoline in 1954; Ohio State has had 46 gymnasts collect the honor. In Ohio State history, former Buckeyes Mike Racanelli (1987-90) and Blaine Wilson (1994-97) tallied 10 individual honors each in only three seasons. Current buckeye senior co-captain Brandon Wynn is the latest to earn All-America status claiming the title on rings in 2010. OHIO STATE AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS The Buckeyes last won the national title in 2001 in their home venue of St. John Arena in Columbus. Three members of the 2001 squad notched individual event championship titles as well. Jamie Natalie won the all-around, Daren Lynch won on vault and Raj Bhavsar, a 2008 U.S. Olympian, won on parallel bars. Ohio State won its second national crown at the 1996 NCAA Championship. Former Buckeye Blaine Wilson captured the all-around, rings and parallel bars titles. Teammate Drew Durbin earned a national championship on pommel horse. In 1985, Ohio State earned the program s first national championship. Twin brothers Noah and Seth Riskin were named co-champions on parallel bars at the event finals. The three teams will be honored Friday evening at St. John Arena. RECAP I: 2010 NATIOINAL QUALIFIER The No. 5 Ohio State men s gymnastics team qualified for its second-consecutive NCAA championships scoring a 346.800 team total in Christi Arena on the campus of the Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. Just as it was the previous year, it came down to the final event - this time pitting Ohio State vs. Penn State. The Buckeyes just edged the Nittany Lions for the third and final qualifying position, 346.800-345.550, with an event total of 54.850 on pommel horse. With a 347.350 team total, the Ohio State men s gymnastics team finished sixth at the 2010 NCAA Team Championships in West Point, N.Y. RECAP II: 2010 NCAA INDIVIDUAL CHAM- PIONSHIPS Highlighted by Brandon Wynn s national championship on rings, the Ohio State men s gymnastics team had a tremendous night at the 2010 NCAA Individual Championships as Phil Onorato also earned all-america honors with Wynn. Wynn accomplished a feat that just one other gymnast in Ohio State history had done so before - be named a national champion on rings. He won his first career NCAA title on rings with a 15.9,.750 points better than the rest of the pack, joining current Buckeye interim co-head coach and former U.S. Olympian Blaine Wilson as the only two gymnasts to do so. Onorato earned his first career All-American honor, scoring a 15.95 on vault to tie for fourth place. ROCKING OUT THE BIG TENS Ohio State posted an impressive performance at the Big Ten Championships April 1-2 in Champaign, Ill., as the team finished in third place with 350.000 points. Freshman Kris Done highlighted the Friday night competition as he finished second in the all-around tallying a season-high 86.600 to earn his first career Big Ten medal. For the second-consecutive season, Brandon Wynn continued to show his dominance on the rings event as the senior co-captain earned his second career Big Ten title, recording a meet-high 16.100. Joining Wynn on the podium was junior Mike Behles, who claimed his first-career Big Ten title on vault, sharing the crown with Zach Chase of Minnesota with a 16.250. In all, five Buckeyes earned medals at the league event finals to be named to the 2011 All- Big Ten teams. For Ohio State, Wynn earned his third-career first team All-Big Ten honor, while Behles was named a first team honoree for the first time in his career. Also claiming first team laurels was Done. Ty Echard and Jeff Treleaven were named to the second team All-Big Ten list, while Done was the Buckeyes Sportsmanship honoree. Done, represented the Scarlet and Gray on vault, parallel bars and high bar. Highlighting his evening competition was on high bar where the Buckeye rookie claimed his second Big Ten medal of the championships with a second-place mark of 14.800. Lancaster, Ohio, native, Echard received the second Big Ten medal of his career, taking second on pommel horse for the second-consecutive season. The Buckeye junior claimed a 15.450 mark Saturday night. Treleaven also had a night to remember as he claimed his first career Big Ten medal, taking second on floor exercise with a 14.950 score. The Buckeye rookie then claimed his second Big Ten medal of the evening, tying for third on vault with a 16.200 score. In all, the Buckeyes had seven individuals qualify with Top 10 marks at the team competition Friday night. Gaining valuable championship experience were sophomores John Laing and Blaize Monks. Laing claimed a 13.750 on pommel horse for eighth place, while Monks claimed a 13.050 to finish eighth overall. BUCKEYES IN THE RANKINGS Senior co-captain Brandon Wynn leads the GymInfo national rankings for the Buckeyes, earning the top spot on rings with a 15.900 national qualifying average. Senior Sean Regan and junior Mike Behles are also ranked on rings both tied for 20th with a 14.617 average. Junior Ty Echard holds the next highest spot for the Scarlet and Gray ranking third on pommel horse (15.133). Junior John Laing is just ten spots behind at No. 13 with a 14.292. Three Buckeyes rank on vault and are led by freshman Jeff Treleaven who is ranked fifth with a 16.067. Behles is ranked 14th (15.80) and freshman Kris Done is 20th in the country (15.642). On floor, Treleaven is No. 11 with a 14.792 average, while Regan is tied for 44th with a 14.025. WYNN NAMED A 2011 NISSEN AWARD FINALIST After claiming the Big Ten and NCAA title on rings his junior season, Brandon Wynn has continued his dominance on the event this season and was recently named a 2011 Nissen-Emery Award Finalist the prestigious award given annually to the nation s outstanding senior male collegiate gymnast. The two-time Buckeye captain, Wynn has won five rings titles in 2011 to stretch his undefeated streak on the event to 18-consecutive titles (24 overall). He posted a season-high 16.100 at Oklahoma Jan. 15. Against Brockport in the Buckeyes home opener Feb. 12, Wynn won the rings event with a 15.700 and also notched a season-high 15.200 on parallel bars for first overall and a season-high 14.800 on floor exercise for second overall. He concluded his final regular season competition winning the rings event with a 15.500 in a tri-meet vs. Illinois and Nebraska March 12. A two-time All-American, Wynn won the 2010 NCAA rings title with a 15.900 mark at the individual finals in West Point, N.Y. Before winning his first national title, the two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree claimed the Big Ten rings championship with a 15.850 score at the individual finals at St. John Arena in Columbus. The three-time All-Big Ten honoree, Wynn earned All-America status for the first time in 2009 after finishing eighth in the all-around at the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. BIG TEN PREASEASON POLL Ohio State was tabbed third by the Big Ten Conference coaches in a preseason poll last December with Michigan, the 2010 NCAA champions, as the preseason favorite to win the league title. Illinois was selected to place second, while Penn State followed the Buckeyes in fourth place. Minnesota and Iowa rounded out the preseason poll in fifth and sixth place, respectively. For Ohio State, seniors Brandon Wynn and Sean Regan were voted to a 12-member Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch List. OHIO STATE IN A NUTSHELL Ohio State opened the season ranked sixth in the preseason coaches poll and has been in the Top 10 in the 2011 GymInfo national poll for 12-consecutive weeks. Strong leadership from the upperclassmen as well as talented performances by Buckeye freshmen helped Ohio State post a season-high 350.350 in the regular-season home finale vs. Nebraska and Illinois March 12 in Columbus. The Buckeyes have received career-high marks from senior Sean Regan, junior Mike Behles and sophomores Blaize Monks and John Laing. Freshmen Jeff Treleaven and Kris Done have notched teamhigh scores this season on vault (16.4) and high bar (15.25), respectively. Senior Brandon Wynn and junior Ty Echard continued to have some of the best routines in the nation in 2011 on rings and pommel horse, respectively. The two have combined for 11 event titles this season. POMMEL HORSE SPECIALIST Ty Echard, a 2009 All-American on pommel horse, has continued his success on the event his junior season. Echard, a native of Carroll, Ohio, has won seven pommel horse titles in 2011 with nine Top 3 finishes. The 2009 All-American posted a season-high 15.550 vs. Brockport Feb. 12 in St. John Arena. Echard currently ranks third in the nation on the event with a 15.133 four-score average. He holds the program record on the event after preforming a 15.700 vs. Michigan in 2010. FRESHMAN SUCCESS Freshman Jeff Treleaven has had an impressive first season at Ohio State. The native of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Treleaven has claimed three Big Ten weekly honors, including the gymnast of the week (Feb. 14) and freshman of the week twice(jan. 17 and Feb. 14). The Buckeye rookie swept the weekly award laurels after posting then-season high of 16.1000 on vault and 14.950 on floor exercise in the win against Brockport Feb. 12 at St. John Arena. Treleaven also posted a season-high 13.650 on parallel bars to tie for third overall. In the home regular season finale vs. Illinois Nebraska, Treleaven notched a team-high 16.400 on vault to earn his fourth vault title of 2011. NEW LEADERSHIP The Buckeyes are led by interim co-head coaches Doug Stibel and Blaine Wilson and after both serving as assistant coaches for the program last season. Stibel, in his 10th season overall at Ohio State, has helped coach the Buckeyes to four Big Ten championships (2002, 05, 06 and 07). For his work in the 2007 season, Stibel garnered his firstcareer Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year accolade. A four-year letterwinner for the Buckeyes (1996-99), Stibel was a member of the 1996 NCAA champion team. Wilson, an assistant coach on the Buckeye staff since 2009, has brought a wealth of knowledge to the gym after competing in three Olympics as a member of the U.S. Men s Gymnastics National Team (Atlanta, 1996; Sydney, 2000; Athens, 2004). The most decorated Buckeye in program history, Wilson competed from 1994-97 for the Buckeyes and helped guided the squad to its second national title in 1996. Dick Huntwork, a 2002 All-American and member of the Ohio State squad from 2000-03, joins the men s gymnastics coaching staff as an assistant coach. Huntwork, a native of Pickerington, Ohio, helped lead the Buckeyes to their third NCAA national championship in 2001. A SUMMER TO REMEMBER Senior Brandon Wynn returned to the Buckeye program after a successful summer not only in national competitions, but on the world stage. Wynn, the 2010 NCAA and Big Ten champion on rings, won the U.S. national rings title at the 2010 VISA championships Aug. 14 in Hartford, Conn. With a two-day total of 32.25, the native of Voorhees, N.J., became the first Buckeye to take the rings title since two-time Olympian Raj Bhavsar won the event at the 2004 championships. With his third-place finish in the all-around with a career-high 90.0 in the finals at the U.S. national championships, Wynn was named to the U.S. Men s National Team for the second-consecutive year and earned a spot on his first U.S. World Team. The Buckeye traveled to the 2010 World Artistic Championships Oct. 17-24 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Wynn competed on five events in the qualification rounds, including floor exercise, still rings, vault parallel bars and horizontal bars. He competed on rings and floor for the Americans in the finals, posting a team-high 15.533 on rings and second-best U.S. score on floor exercise with 14.3. The U.S. national team finished fourth at the world championships. WYNN, HARDY NAMED 2011 CAPTAINS Senior Brandon Wynn and sophomore Elliott Hardy were named co-captains from the 2011 season, interim co-head coaches Doug Stibel and Blaine Wilson announced last preseason.
