13 TH ANNUAL PAT S RUN On behalf of the Pat Tillman Foundation, Pat s Run Race Committee and the community of Tillman Scholars who directly benefit from proceeds generated, thank you for your interest in supporting Pat s Run! Pat never stopped listening to that inner voice that pushed him forward. Each of our sponsor s passion for service and action has had a profound impact on the lives of Tillman Scholars who answered the call to serve like Pat. From the first event held in 2005 with 5,000 participants, Pat s Run has grown into the largest run in the nation to honor a fallen soldier and support our nation s veterans and military spouses through the Pat Tillman Foundation s Tillman Scholar program. For the past five years, Pat s Run has surpassed 35,000 participants representing all 50 states. Among the 24,000 individuals participating in the 4.2 mile Run/Walk, over 75 Tillman Scholars and their families lead the race corrals and rally support for the scholars program. Through our partnership with Arizona State University Alumni Association, 4.2 mile Shadow Runs and Remote Runs are also held on the same day in over 30 cities from San Jose to Chicago to NYC.

WRITING THE STORY OF A BETTER FUTURE Pat Tillman Foundation invests in military veterans and their spouses through academic scholarships building a diverse community of leaders committed to service to others. Founded in 2004, Pat s family and friends started the Pat Tillman Foundation to carry forward his legacy by giving military veterans and their spouses, who embody his principles of service, learning and action, the educational tools and support they need to reach their fullest potential as leaders, no matter how they choose to serve. 460 + Tillman Scholars and growing $ 14 million invested in academic support to date 100 + universities and growing WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR IN A TILLMAN SCHOLAR? PAT S RUN STATS Pat s Run is a 4.2 mile Run/Walk that winds through the streets of Tempe to Sun Devil Stadium, ending at the 42-yard line of Frank Kush Field, symbolic of the #42 jersey Pat wore as an ASU Sun Devil. ATHLETE. SCHOLAR. SOLDIER. LEADER. Patrick Tillman was born in 1976 in San Jose, California. He led his high school team to a championship after he was told he was too small to ever play football. Arizona State University recognized Pat s potential with a scholarship to play as a linebacker for the Sun Devils. What Pat lacked in size, he more than made up for in intensity he led ASU to the 1997 Rose Bowl after an undefeated season. Between games, Pat earned a B.S. in Marketing, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Somewhere inside, we hear a voice. It LEADS US IN THE DIRECTION of who we wish to become. But it is up to us whether or not to follow. The Arizona Cardinals selected Pat in the 7th round of the 1998 NFL Draft. Despite skepticism about his ability, he became the team s starting safety and broke the franchise record for tackles in 2000 with 224. However, Pat s NFL success did not go to his head. He drove to games in the same beat-up truck he had in college. In the off-season, he challenged himself with marathons and triathlons while pursuing a master s degree in history from ASU. He volunteered with Boys and Girls Clubs, the March of Dimes, and local schools. In the spring of 2002, Pat married his high school love, Marie. He then decided to place his NFL career on hold, turning down a $3.6 million contract to enlist in the U.S. Army. Pat and his brother Kevin joined the U.S. Army that July, committing to a three-year term. They were assigned to the second battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment, and served tours in Iraq in 2003 and in Afghanistan in 2004. On April 22, 2004, Pat s unit was ambushed. His heroic efforts to provide cover for fellow soldiers led to his tragic death via fratricide. While the story of Pat s death may have been more publicized, it is Pat s life, principles and service that are his true legacy and this foundation s inspiration.
