Introduction TREC Ireland is pleased to invite all competitors to Stradbally Hall Equestrian Centre for the TREC Ireland National Championships 2014. This competition includes a FITE European Cup class (Level 4) as well as qualifier classes for the BHS TREC Championships of Great Britain 22 nd to 24 th August 2014. Competition information Competitors can expect to be riding across varied terrain which will include quiet country roads, tracks, fields, multi-use paths, forestry paths. We must stress the need to keep gates closed and to ensure that you follow the Country Code. Arrival at the venue The venue will be open for arrivals from lunchtime Friday 23rd May. Entries Entries received and paid up to 4 th July 2014 are at prices stated below. For entries received between the 5 th July 2014 and the 11 th July 2014 there is an additional charge of 10. Entries will not be accepted after the 11 th July 2014. Withdrawals: TREC Ireland Refund Policy Events are organized based on number of riders and volunteers and certain costs are fixed. Due to this refunds will only be made for cancellations notified prior to the 11 th July 2014. A 50% refund will be made to cancellations between 11 th July and 19th July 2014. Any cancellations made after 19th July cannot be refunded. Amounts paid for the BBQ will be refunded on cancellations made before 24 th July 2014. Levels 2, 3 and 4 included. Maximum heights and distances are as specified in the BHS rules. Riders must be fully 4
paid up BHS Gold Members. Riders must have a Riders Licence in accordance with BHS rules. Important information Food Food will be provided for all helpers on both Saturday and Sunday, and all helpers will receive a meal ticket for the BBQ on Saturday night. Extra tickets for friends, partners etc. who are not volunteering can be purchased for 15. Social A BBQ for riders and helpers will be hosted near the venue on Saturday night at 7.30pm. Accommodation A list of accommodation available in the area will be published shortly. Camping is also available at the venue. Horse hire Horse hire is available from Birr Equestrain Centre. The rates are 160 for levels 1 and 2 and 200 for levels 3 and 4. Passports It is a legal requirement to carry a passport when a horse is used for the purposes of competition. If a horse is transported without a passport when being used for competition purposes an offence is being committed and prosecution is a possibility. Passport will be required at vetting. 5
Vetting All horses/ponies will be vetted prior to the start of the competition. Vetting will commence at 6.00pm on Friday 23rd May for levels 2 to 4. Vetting will be carried out in accordance with TREC Ireland and British Horse Society rules. Riders are required to familiarize themselves with these rules. Times Timetable of events please note all times are approximate and are subject to change. The competition will consist of three phases, the winners being those with the highest points accumulated across the three phases. Maximum possible total from all three phases is 460 points. Delays to the presentation will be as a result of objections or queries that will need to be resolved before it can go ahead. Official objections Queries and objections will be dealt with in accordance with TREC Ireland rules and British Horse Society rules and riders are required to familiarise themselves with these rules. 6
Code of Ethics TREC Ireland s Code of Ethics & Good Practice for Children s Sport will be adhered to for this event. Please note the following changes to previous events: - All parents must fill in Junior Participants Form (page 29 of the Code). - All parents and junior participants must fill in the entry form with the understanding that they agree to abide by TREC Ireland s code of ethics and good practice this also allows TREC Ireland to include photos of the junior participants on the internet and any newspapers such as The Irish Field. - Anybody involved in any way with the event on any or all days, must sign in using the provided sign in sheet (in the secretary s tent). - Any junior helper must either be accompanied by two adults, an adult family member, or must fill out p.18 of the code, Travelling Leader form. It is up to the junior helper to get this filled out and NOT the duty of the organizer. The code is available to download on www.trecireland.com. PLEASE HELP! All TREC competitions rely on the support of volunteer judges and helpers. Can you or anyone coming with you lend a hand? Please enclose with your entry, details of anyone who would be available to help with stewarding or judging, before or during the event.. Competitors can also help us with setting up, clearing equipment away, or judging the PTV or CoP for other Levels. No judging qualification necessary we are grateful for all offers of help and you will learn lots from the inside!
