Introduction This brand guidelines document has been prepared as a reference document for the Surf Life Saving movement in New Zealand. It is designed to be a useful guide for Surf Life Saving staff, clubs, members, partners and suppliers to ensure Surf Life Saving and partner branding is represented accurately and consistently. It is important that we represent not only the Surf Life Saving movement consistently and positively, but also the brands of the Surf Life Saving New Zealand partners. There are two versions of the generic logo, Stacked and Flat. The Flat logo is the preferred logo. Depending on the space and shape available the stacked version may be needed. The reverse version of the logo should be used when the background is too dark and the logo cannot be seen clearly. Consistent treatment of our identity is crucial to ensure we create a unified and positive image of our organisation. The red, blue and yellow which make up the logo also make up the core colour palette which is used heavily throughout collateral. The three colours also represent the core business areas; Lifesaving (red), Sport (blue), and Education (yellow). It conveys the commitment and passion of it s members. It s typographical treatment is more casual which is emphasised by using a hand written font. Formal documents will carry the organisation purpose rather than the slogan. C:0 M:12 Y:100 K:0 C U BLACK Stitching lines Stitching The stitching lines are used to join or combine elements together, such as an image with solid colour or as a method for attaching the in it for life tag. When stitching lines appear on documents sized A3 or smaller, the stroke weight is 0.7pt with a 3pt dash and 3pt gap. If they are to appear on a larger format, please scale line weight and dash proportionally. The lines are derived from the stitching used to join the red and yellow panels on the beach flags and the traditional lifeguard cap (beanie). The stitching lines can be used horizontally or vertically. 21
