DGT Cricket Club Presents Discovery Gardens Premier League SEASON-2 TOURNAMENT NOVEMBER 2017
TOURNAMENT DATE: Kicks off on 10 th November VENUE: Near Street 1 Signals DGT & DGK Cricket Ground, Discovery Gardens TOURNAMENT FORMAT: 4 teams will be participating in the tournament. Top 2 teams based on RR will be playing Finals. GAME FORMAT: A team can list a maximum of 15 players Each League game will be 16 overs per innings. Each side will have 11 players on the field. In Leagues, only One bowler can bowl a maximum of 4 overs. Match will be played on each specified day morning and evenings. Morning match starts at 6:00 am to 8:15 am Morning match starts at 8:30 am to 10:45 am Evening match starts at 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm Toss will be done by 5:45 am for the morning and 3:15 pm for the evening match. Expect captain or vice-captain to attend the toss by 5:45 am. Else they will lose the chance to select. Umpires or organizers will have right to delay the match. Duration of each match should not be more than 65 minutes. There is a break of 5 minutes for each innings. Wide ball gives the opponent 1 run and a re-ball. Score board will be shared after the match. Scores will be entered in cricket app as well as manual score boards for a backup. Final match will be of 20 overs where two bowlers can bowl max of 4 overs. PRIZES: Tournament Winners - Winners trophy Tournament Runners - Runners trophy Individual prizes: Man of the match for all matches, including league games Best Batsman of the Series Best Bowler of the Series Most Catches in the Series Most 6 s in the tournament
The entry fee per team is 500 AED to be paid by cash before Nov 8th 2017. Organizers will only provide balls and wickets for every match and the rest of the cricket equipment should be brought by the teams. Hard tennis balls (not tape ball) will be used for the tournament. Water and refreshments will be provided by the organizers. IMPORTANT POINTS OF NOTE: There will be neutral umpires for all the matches & umpire decision is final. Again, ground umpire decision is final. Anytime if the Umpires cannot make the decision, organizers will step up and make the decision. Also, the Organizers have the right to over-rule umpire s decisions on whether a match can/cannot be continued. One player can play for only one team in the tournament. If it comes to the organizer s notice that a team has a player who has played for another team in the tournament, then the team will be penalized. The penalty could range from awarding runs to the opponent, reducing overs to even disqualifying the team. This is completely the organizer s discretion. Team has to be in the ground 30 minutes before the game start time. If the team doesn t show up on time, the other team will be declared as the winner. This will be followed strictly since we are very restricted on the ground reservation and availability. Organizers have the right to cancel the match at any point of time. Also, organizers have the right to eliminate any teams from the tournament at any point depending upon the situation. Tournament fee will not be refunded at any cost. If there is time wastage by the fielding side, the umpire should take the following steps: a) Call and signal dead ball if necessary b) Award 5 penalty runs to the batting side c) Inform the fielding captain, batsman and other umpire of what has happened. The umpire should also explain to the batting captain what has happened as soon as possible d) Umpire needs to report the occurrence in the match report. If there is time wastage by the batsman, the umpire should take the following steps: a) At the first instance, the umpire should warn both batsmen. This warning applies for the rest of their batting innings. It is the first and final warning.
b) Inform fielding captain, square leg umpire & batting captain (when possible) of what has occurred. c) If there is any further deliberate time wasting by any batsmen in that innings, the umpire shall call the ball is dead. a. Award 5 runs to the fielding side. b. Communicate to the relevant parties as outlined above. c. Report the occurrence in the match report. INTERRUPTIONS AND UNEXPECTED STOPS: If the match cannot be played under any un-avoidable conditions such as rain, bad weather/ light, or interruptions of any form, a NEW match will be played between the same two teams at a later time depending upon the ground availability. The new match will NOT be continued from the state it was halted no matter what. ONLY the Umpires of that match have the right to declare if a match cannot be continued. The batsman can only appeal if he thinks he cannot see the ball or appeal for other unplayable conditions but if the Umpire thinks otherwise and requests that play shall be continued, the match MUST be continued. If not, the team who doesn t want to play still will forfeit the match and declared to have lost the match. Also, if a team misbehaves on the field such as abuse a player/ umpire or indulge in any activities that may cause unnecessary problems, the Umpires have the right to STOP the match at any time and declare the Winners. Again, anytime if the Umpires cannot make the decision, organizers will step up and make the decision. Also, the Organizers have the right to over-rule Umpires decisions on whether a match can/cannot be continued. SOME GAME RULES: Free Hit: A Free Hit is awarded to the batting team if the bowler bowls a no-ball (over stepping or a waist high full toss or over the shoulder 2 nd ball of same over). There is run out on the free hit & the ball will be counted. No free hit for Guard no-balls. Field cannot be changed unless the batsman changed ends. There are no leg byes or LBW in this tournament. There is no run out on a LEG BYE. Umpires will explain all other rules, if any, before the match starts. No power plays
