Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice. Personal protective equipment for first-aid responders Respiratory Protection: NIOSH/MSHA approved for protection against toxic dusts containing quartz. Ventilation: General or local exhaust to maintain employee exposure below the TLV/PEL. Protective Gloves: PVC or Neoprene. Eye Protection: Safety glasses or goggles (ANSI Z87.1 1979) Other Protective Clothing or Equipment: Apron, boots, long sleeved shirt and full-length pants may be worn when necessary to prevent skin contact. Eye wash and shower facilities should be available. SECTION 6: Accidental release measures Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures Refer to section 8 for PPE. Environmental precautions This material is toxic to fish. Do not contaminate waterways by cleaning of equipment or by disposal of wastes. Untreated effluent should not be discharged where it will drain into lakes, streams, or ponds. Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up Sweep up or vacuum spilled material being careful not to create dust, and shovel sweepings into an open drum. Generously cover the contaminated areas with common, household detergent. Using a stiff brush and small amounts of water, work the detergent into the remaining spilled material forming a slurry. Brush the slurry into cracks and crevices and allow to stand for 2-3 minutes. Be careful to completely avoid skin or eye contact. Do not splatter on oneself or bystanders. Spread absorbents on the slurry liquid and shovel mixture into the open drum. Repeat if necessary. If practical, flush the area with water to a sewer serviced by a wastewater treatment facility. Seal drum and dispose of contaminated material in a landfill permitted for hazardous waste. Large spills should be handled according to Local, State, and Federal Laws. SECTION 7: Handling and storage Precautions for safe handling KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities Store in cool, dry place. Keep away from children and away from food or feed. Avoid eye or skin contact. Toxic to fish and wildlife. SECTION 8: Exposure controls/personal protection Appropriate engineering controls Ventilation: General or local exhaust to maintain employee exposure below the TLV/PEL. Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment (PPE) Eye/face protection Safety glasses or goggles (ANSI Z87.1 1979) Chemical-resistant goggles Skin protection PVC or Neoprene gloves Chemical-resistant gloves. Body protection Apron, boots, long sleeved shirt and full-length pants may be worn when necessary to prevent skin contact. Eye wash and shower facilities should be available. Respiratory protection NIOSH/MSHA approved for protection against toxic dusts. Version: 1.0, Date of issue: 2016-03-14, p. 4 of 8
