Hunt the Buck$ Tournament Only qualified (legal hunters), paid entrants are eligible for the Hunt the Buck$ Tournament (hereinafter Tournament ). To be a qualified, entrant must pay entry fee of $100 ($50 is tax deductible) to Outdoor Ability Foundation (hereinafter OAF ) and payment must have received at least one week prior to the opening day the deer season. Tournament Rules Scoring system: Each doe (Maximum 5) equals 5 points each. Each buck (maximum 3) equal 5 points per buck plus 1 point per score-able (1 inch) point or greater. All deer must be registered and verified with Alabama Department of Natural Resources (ALDNR) to be eligible for the Tournament. http://www.outdooralabama.com/hunting. All ALDNR bag limits and rules must be followed. Copy of ALDNR license must be submitted with harvest record Example of scoring: 3 Does (Confirmation with # s) 15 points Buck one (confirmation # 1234)- 10 point = 15 points Buck two (confirmation # 5678)- 8 point = 13 points Buck three (confirmation # 9101)- 6 point = 11 points Total score 54 total score Only whitetail deer are eligible for the Tournament. Only deer harvested in Alabama may be entered in the Tournament. Only deer taken by legal means may be entered in the Tournament. Only deer taken under ethical, fair-chase hunting conditions may be entered. Specifically excluded are taken inside of a pen/fence, regardless of the acreage enclosed. Only deer harvested on land where the hunter has a clear right and permission to hunt and landowner rules are followed may be entered in the Tournament. A Found deer (that is any deer that comes into the possession of a hunter by any means other than a hunter actually sport hunting, legally shooting, and harvesting a deer within 24 hours) is not eligible for entry in the Tournament. Only the hunter who harvested the deer may enter the deer in the Tournament. All buck(s) must have an OAF tag put on the antlers when harvested and a picture must be taken from the field evidencing recent kill clearly showing the OAF tag. A deer must have been reduced to bag within 24 hours of the initial shot. Any deer that is Lost to a hunter for more than 24 hours after the initial shot is deemed Lost for purposes of this Tournament and cannot be entered. Bucks legally taken under a Buck Control Permit or under any other legal but non-sport-hunting authority are ineligible for entry into the Tournament. Before a buck is caped or skinned, have digital or 35 mm color-print photos taken of you and your buck. Bucks that are caped or skinned before photos are taken are not eligible for entry. *See Tie Break Rules* Each Tournament entrant must sign an affidavit attesting to the facts regarding his or her entry into the Tournament and the circumstances of the hunt and harvest of the deer. This affidavit, along with photos of all deer and hunter must be received by OAF within seven (7) business days of the day the deer was shot. OAF reserves the right to make additional rules should circumstances not covered herein arise and to waive or otherwise modify any rules stated herein if, in the judgment of OAF, said action would improve or not materially harm the Tournament. By entering a deer in the Tournament each entrant agrees to abide by and be bound by each and all rules of the Tournament. Should a dispute arise over eligibility of an entered deer, or regarding the ownership of the deer, the disputing party must notify OAF in writing, by registered mail, within five business days of the harvest of the deer, giving reasons for the dispute. In the event of a dispute, OAF will hold the prize(s) in escrow
until the parties can resolve the dispute, or until 60 days after the Tournament. At that time, OAF will move to resolve the dispute by such methods and means as it deems necessary. Each side will be held financially liable before the fact, for all costs that may be incurred by OAF in its efforts to fairly resolve the dispute. Failure to satisfy any financial obligation before the fact will be sufficient cause to reject any and/or all claims by a disputing party. Additionally, OAF reserves the sole right and jurisdiction to resolve all disputes. By entering a deer in the Tournament, each entrant recognizes and agrees to accept the judgment of OAF and its agents and assigns as final and indisputable and further agrees to abide by all rules of the Tournament. Meanwhile, each disputing party agrees to all other terms, conditions and rules of the Tournament. Hunters who have been convicted of a game violation of the Alabama Game & Fish Code, that conviction occurring on or after Jan. 1, 2016, are specifically excluded from participation in the Tournament. *Tie Break Rules: Best scoring rack (as determined by OAF and its agents using scoring methods described by the Boone & Crockett Club in their publication titled Measuring and Scoring North American Big Game Trophies ). Note: racks scored as non-typical must exceed the score of the best-scoring typical rack by more than 14.7 percent to win. The tie break will be 60 days after the end of deer season to allow for drying. Please provide green score upon submission. Each entrant into the Tournament must present the intact, unmodified and unmounted antlers and skull plate to OAF at a time and place to be specified later and permit OAF and its agents to score the rack. Failure to present the intact antlers and skull plate at the appointed time and location will result in disqualification of the buck and the entrant from the Tournament. The official measurement will be conducted after 60 days from the last day of deer season. Each entrant must secure the antlers and skull plate and keep them in his/her control and see to it that the antlers and skull plate are not modified in any way other than natural air drying. Any modification of the antlers and/or skull plate will result in disqualification from the Tournament. Specific prohibitions include, but are not limited to, (1) Freezing the rack indefinitely to prevent drying; (2) Wedging, bracing or by any other means securing the antlers/skull plate to increase the spread or to prevent the spread from decreasing naturally; (3) Wetting the antlers/skull plate or keeping the rack submerged in any fluid; (4) adding to, modifying or removing any antler material. If entrant plans to have the buck mounted, the taxidermist must not modify the antlers and skull plate prior to final measurements and must sign an affidavit stating they have adhered to the above rules. Final measurements will be conducted at Awards Dinner at least 60 days after the conclusion of deer season. Date and location TBD. Disclaimer: All Entrants enter the tournament at their own risk. Eligible hunters without condition the rules of the Tournament and, by participating or attempting to participate in the Tournament, promise and agree to hold harmless Outdoor Ability Foundation, its employees, officers, agents and assigns, for any damages of any kind whatsoever. OAF, its members, employees, officers, agents and assigns, and all persons directly or indirectly connected with the Tournament shall be exempt from any liability for loss, damage, negligence, harm, or injury to any participant, entrant, hunter, which may occur from the Tournament. By completing the Tournament registration, the participant acknowledges that such photographs/videos become the property of OAF and gives OAF consent for OAF to use without payment or restriction any photograph, video, audio recordings in which the participant may appear, for any purpose whatsoever, in regards to but not limited to advertising, promotional material, and/or sale. All winning entrants agree to submit to a polygraph examination (lie detector test) at the request of the Tournament Committee. Failure to submit will subject the entrant to disqualification at the Tournament Committee s discretion. Cash Award Payments: Cash awards will be announced at the end of the Awards Dinner. Cash awards checks will be issued provided there are no outstanding appeals or disputes. A valid Driver s License and Social Security Number must be presented from the awards winners. An IRS form 1099 will be sent to all Cash Awards Winners.
