Investing Hunting License Fees to Benefit Hunters On behlf of the Iow DNR, thnk you for being license buyer. By purchsing hunting licenses, you hve invested 1s of millions of dollrs just since the turn of the century - supporting conservtion efforts in our stte. We pprecite your trust in us to mke sound finncil decisions on your behlf to improve criticl hbitt, continue importnt reserch nd expnd hunter opportunities nd together we hve ccomplished quite lot over the pst yer. Two successes in prticulr should be noted. Our Iow Hbitt nd Access Progrm (IHAP), tht llows hunter ccess on privte lnd in exchnge for hbitt improvement, hs grown the number of enrolled cres from 9, lst yer to more thn 25, tody. And these res re becoming more populr ech yer. Secondly, we hve new entry level license the pprentice license tht llows hunters over ge 18 to try hunting without completing hunter eduction with the hopes tht they will enjoy the experience nd then get certified. They re required to hunt under the supervision of n dult hunter with vlid license. Those new opportunities combined with strong popultions of phesnts, quil, rbbits nd squirrels should increse the chnce for success. And the best success is shred success. This yer, sk someone new to come long on the next hunt. Getting our friends, fmily, coworkers nd neighbors reconnected with our trditionl outdoor sports is good for the mind, body nd spirit. Agin, thnk you for being hunter nd supporting conservtion. Chuck Gipp Director, Iow Deprtment of Nturl Resources 2
