Find registration forms and medical release forms on our website, Facebook page or in the Adair County ISU Extension Office, 154 Public Square, Greenfield. May 15th Deadline for 4-H Enrollment Forms and ID Sheets 4-H Enrollment Forms I am still missing re-enrollment forms. Dakota Hughes, Drew, Elizabeth, and Abbie Belden, Brad and Grace Gebbie, and Kayla Mills - please get these forms to the Extension office immediately. ID Sheets for Bucket/bottle calf, breeding heifer, cow-calf, feeder calf, horse, dog, dairy, dairy goat, meat goat does, and breeding sheep are due Monday, May 15th. All market beef, market lambs, bottle lambs, meat goats, market and breeding swine have been identified at the time of tagging. Livestock and/or animals intended to be shown at the State Fair must be ID d using 4honline by May 15th. Camp will be held at the State 4-H Camping Center in Madrid. Youth entering grades 5-8 may attend Full Camp on Wednesday, June 14, through Friday, June 16. Youth entering grades 1-4 may attend Mini Camp on Thursday, June 15, to Friday, June 16. Campers will have the chance to go on a nature hike, splash in the swimming pool, eat S mores around a campfire, explore trails as they hike, make camp crafts, perform skits, sing songs, participate in other outdoor activities, and make many new friends. Realizing that families have different abilities to pay, a voluntary three-tier fee program for Camp is offered. Families choose the level that is comfortable and affordable. All campers receive the same experience no matter what they pay. Prices are the following: Mini Camp Fees Full Camp Fees Tier 1 = $160 Tier 1 = $240 Tier 2 = $176 Tier 2 = $266 Tier 3 = $190 Tier 3 = $285 Adair County 4-H ers are eligible for a $133 rebate for Full Camp, and an $88 rebate for Mini Camp. May 15 th Deadline for SWIA Area 4-H 5 th & 6 th Grade Junior Camp 2017 SWI Area 4-H 5 th & 6 th Grade Jr. Camp is open to youth who are currently in 5 th or 6 th grade. Camp will be held June 11 14 at the Eastern Nebraska 4-H Camping Center, near Gretna, Nebraska, The camping center has bathrooms in the cabins,. Experience the adventure and excitement of four days filled with 4-H camp traditions and favorite activities, including nature hikes, high ropes, zip line, archery/ shooting sports, canoeing, camp songs, crafts, swimming, and campfires along with a wonderful group of teen camp counselors! Adair County 4-H ers are eligible for a $100 rebate. Camp registrations are due to the Harrison County Extension office by May 15. Late charge of $25 after May 15. No registration will be accepted after May 25th. Camp is filled at 80 youth, so register early before it fills up. June 1 Deadline for State 4-H Youth Conference Start Your Future Here is the theme for 2017 State 4-H Youth Conference to be held on the ISU campus in Ames June 27 29 th. Any Iowa youth who has completed 8th - 12th grade is eligible to attend. Cost is $180 (includes t-shirt). Adair County 4-H ers are eligible for a rebate of 75% of the cost for 1st time attendees, and 50% of the cost for those who have previously attended. You don t have to be a 4-H er to attend. Invite your friends. Let s have a large delegation going to Conference! Wednesday, May 3, Horse Practices Begin Practices held at Adair County Fair Horse Arena 6:30 pm every Wednesday night until county fair. June 9 th Order Deadline for County Fair T-shirts Each Adair County 4-H Club member, Cloverbud, Clover Kid, Club Leader, County Fair Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent are able to purchase ONE t-shirt for the special price of $5.00 (Special thanks to Adair County Corn & Soybean Association for funding support). Each additional t-shirt priced as follows: S, M, L (Youth and Adult) and XL Adult - $7.50; XXL - $9.00, 3X - $11.00, 4X - $12.00, 5X - $13.00. Light Gray or White with red and gold artwork. Saturday, June 10 th, Adair County 4-H & FFA Horse Clinic 10:00 am 5:00 pm, Adair County Fairgrounds Three well-known clinicians will be presenting during the clinic, plus Adair County 4-H alumni, Anna Horn, 2016 Miss Dallas County Rodeo Queen. Cost is $25 for youth (includes lunch & all clinic sessions) and $10 for adult/parent (includes lunch & auditing sessions). Registration form available on Adair County Extension & Outreach Facebook page. Registration and fee due to Adair County Extension by June 1. Adair County 4-H er, Michala Stull, is planning and organizing the clinic as a leadership project. 4-H County Fair Kick-Off on Thursday, July 13 Adair County Youth Action Committee and Extension Council will be hosting the event in the 4-H/FFA Center on the Fairgrounds. Meal will be served from 5:00 7:00 pm. 4-H clubs are encouraged to organize children s games and activities for the evening entertainment. Email wallaced@iastate.edu with your club plans. Communication Share the Fun participants will perform at 6 pm. Adair County Fair King and Queen candidates will be introduced at 7 pm. Evening activities will include celebration of 100 th Anniversary of Adair County Extension.

Page 3 County Fair Packets for Leaders Two meetings will be scheduled at a later date to pick-up county fair packets. 4-H club leaders and FFA chapter advisers will be notified when those dates have been set. Volunteer Leader Training for 2016-17 should be completed by July 1. It is a Requirement Iowa 4-H requires all 4-H leaders (organizational, assistant, and countywide project leaders, including Shooting Sports volunteers) to participate in 1 training each year. This year s training focuses on Youth Engagement Strengthens 4-H. Six club leaders and two project superintendents need to complete the volunteer training. Please do so as soon as possible. Instructions for completing online Step 1: Access the pre-learning and supporting documents on the 4-H website under Volunteer Resources, Annual Training Resources (http://www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/volunteerresources). Review the three pre-learning resources prior to completing the online training. It will be beneficial to preview or print the three supporting documents as well. Step 2: Access the online annual training of Youth Engagement Strengthens 4-H via 4H Online, link below as well as step by step instructions. Open a web browser (use Firefox, Safari, or Chrome as IE does not always work) and type in: iowa.4honline.com Login to 4H Online using your family email address and login information. Click Continue to Family. Find your name and click Edit on right side by your name. On the top of the page click on the trainings option. Click the Sign up for a training option on the upper right side of screen. View the trainings listed and click Sign up next to the annual training online version 2016-17 Leader Training (Youth Engagement Strengthens 4-H). Click Take the Course to get started. Step 3: Upon completion of the online training be sure to click to receive your certificate! By clicking on the certificate you have verified completion of the course, you can also print or save the certificate. A full week county fair pass will be provided to 4-H community club leaders who have completed the Volunteer Training by July 1 and who will not be receiving a week fair pass in another county fair volunteer role. CLUB CHECKLIST As a Club: Check your membership list closely. May 15th is the deadline to re-enroll or enroll new members. Decide what you might do for the 4-H Silent Auction at the county fair. History of Your 4-H Club is the theme for the 4-H/FFA Center. Start making plans for your club booth. Decide if and how your club can contribute to the July 13th 4-H County Fair Kick-Off sponsored by Extension and 4-H. Kids games, easy working exhibits, face painting are some ideas. If you are considering a group outing Adventureland has group rates available. Summit Super Stars teamed with Guthrie County 4-H Club, Grant Sky Eagles, to fill 800+ Easter eggs with candy and small gift items and placed the eggs for the Adair City Easter Egg Hunt. NV Champions provided pizza, pop, and cookies to Adair County fair board members prior to their April board meeting. Orient Bulldogs helped with April Clover Kids session.
