Across both sessions, Stephenson placed 27th in the allaround, while King placed 35th in the all-around and 13th on pommel horse. Ohio State s Sean Melton leads after the first day. The Columbus, Ohio, native posted a 87.75 in the all-around. Yul Moldauer of Oklahoma is in second place with a score of 87.35, while three-time U.S. champion Sam Mikulak holds the third-place spot with a total of 87.10. Winter Cup Finals begin at 9:15 p.m. (CT) on Feb. 20. Freshmen King, Stephenson will represent nu at winter cup, feb. 16 Jordan King and Anton Stephenson, freshmen on the Nebraska men s gymnastics team, have been invited to represent the Huskers at Winter Cup in Las Vegas on Feb. 18 and Feb. 20. Over 90 individuals will attend and each gymnast will be competing for eight spots on the U.S. Men s Senior National Team, along with a shot to represent the United States at the 2016 Summer Olympics. The competition is not new to the pair. Both Huskers competed at the Winter Cup last year. Stephenson advanced to the finals in the all-around, where he tied for fourth on vault. The meet is by invitation only and is considered a prestigious honor. In order to qualify for the Winter Cup, athletes must have competed in the P&G Championships or must have finished in the top three in the all-around or individual events at the NCAA Championships. King competed at the 2015 P&G Gymnastics Championships, where he placed in the top five on all events and in the all-round competition. The Houston, Texas, native tied for first on pommel horse, placed second on floor, rings, parallel bars and in the all-around, took third on high bar and earned fifth on vault. I m pretty stoked to be competing at Winter Cup again, King said. But this time I get to represent the University [of Nebraska] and wear that block N on my chest, which means so much more than representing just myself. Stephenson also competed at the 2015 P&G Championships. He took home the title on parallel bars, earned second on vault, placed third on floor and pommel horse, placed fourth in the all-around, tied for fourth on high bar and claimed seventh place on rings. I am very excited to head out to Las Vegas to compete at Winter Cup, Stephenson said. It is always an eye opening experience swinging next to some of the nation s top gymnasts. It will not be as exciting as competing alongside the whole team, but it is still a great opportunity to represent the University [of Nebraska]. King will compete in the afternoon session on Feb. 18, beginning at 1 p.m. Stephenson will follow in the evening session, set to start at 6:30 p.m. Scoring at Winter Cup is based on a point system of 20. The highest-scoring individual on any event will be awarded 20 points, with the next highest earning 19 and so on. There are no points awarded for the all-around on the first day of competition. The top 42 gymnasts will advance to the final competition on Feb. 20, along with the top three gymnasts on each event. Champions will be determined based on the combined two-day score. At Oklahoma, Feb. 6 NORMAN, Okla. --- Despite posting the second-best team score in school history, three top-three individual finishes and a number of personal-best scores, the No. 6 Nebraska men s gymnastics team (5-4, 0-1) fell to the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (8-0) on Saturday night by a score of 428.700 447.450. The team is excited to begin its fifth season in the Big Ten Conference, as it provides challenging matchups for the Huskers. Nebraska hopes to finish the 2016 season in the top seven nationally, executing the program s highest finish in over 15 years. Senior Leadership NU will depend on its three seniors to help lead the team both in the gym and in the classroom. All-American Ethan Lottman, along with Sam Chamberlain and Ryan Irick, all played significant roles in the Huskers lineup during the 2015 season. Lottman competed in every meet last season, including the postseason, where he finished fifth on pommel horse. Chamberlain set the program record for highest parallel bars score in 2015 with 15.50. He also was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring of 2015. Chris Stephenson had a stellar year in his debut season as a Husker. The Fishers, Ind., native transferred from Air Force after his freshman season, but immediately made an impact for Nebraska as a sophomore. In addition to competing at the 2015 NCAA Team Qualifier, he also performed at the individual competition. He also was a standout in the classroom earning first-team CGA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors in 2015. Coleman Tokar competed regularly for the Huskers on rings, vault and floor, posting career-best scores on all three events as a sophomore. They each earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for at least one semester last year and expect to continue representing the team in the classroom. Freshman talent Five freshmen look to start making an immediate impact on the team. The class includes two redshirts, Joshua Everitt and Andrew Zymball, and three newcomers, Heath Anderson, Anton Stephenson and Jordan King. Everitt and Zymball anticipate making the lineups in 2016, while guiding the remaining freshmen in their first competitive season at Nebraska. The remaining three Huskers consist of highprofile recruits sought after by numerous schools across the country. Heath Anderson, from Mesa, Ariz., participated at the 2014 State Boys Championships and chose Nebraska over Oklahoma. He ll look to clinch a spot in the Huskers still rings lineup in 2016. Jordan King, a Houston, Texas, native was a member of the Cypress Academy of Gymnastics team that took first at the 2015 Junior Olympics National Championships. Additionally, King and Stephenson both represented Nebraska at the P&G Gymnastics Championships. King tied for first on pommel horse and placed second on floor, rings and in all-around competition.
