A judge shall assign a score, in points, as above for each exhibit Involved in the section they are assigned. The total score for each exhibit shall be derived by adding the scores of each of the judges, with a maximum score of 100 points.2. Should the final score result in the awarding of equal points for two or more exhibits, the result shall be decided by the points allocated by Judge 1. 3. Should the points allocated to the exhibits by Judge 1 be the same, then the result shall be determined by Judge 2. 4. Should the allocation of points by Judge 2 to the exhibits be the same, then the result will be determined by the allocation of points of Judge 3. 5. Should all three scores be equal for the said exhibits, then the result shall be determined by all three judges, conferring to determine the outcome. Conditions of Entry: a.on the date of competition, the rider must be at least 8 years of age and less than 17 years of age. b. A horse of any height may be ridden in this class. 7

c. There are no rider-age/ horse-height combination restrictions in this class d. The horse must be ridden in a bridle with a snaffle bit. e. A horse and rider combination must be able to compete independent of assistance. f. A horse ridden in this class must be the bona fide property of the rider or the rider s immediate family (mother, father, sister or brother of competitor). No other combination is accepted. NOTE: A lessee is not considered the bona fide owner of a horse competing in this event. g. A horse owned in partnership is not eligible to compete in this class, unless it is owned by the rider and/or a member of the rider s immediate family such as their mother, father, sister or brother\ h. Any horse entered in this class must be ridden either by its owner or a member of its owner s immediate family. Junior Equestrian Challenge Judging Categories and Guidelines: 1.Rider The assigned judge shall assess the position of the rider and consider the rider s ability to maintain a correct, well-balanced, deep and supple seat, with the rider being in perfect harmony with the horse. The rider should demonstrate the ability to apply the aids of leg, hand and body accurately and effectively upon request. 2.Overall Presentation of Rider and Mount The judge shall assess the first impression of the horse/rider partnership, the cleanliness and presentation of the horse, the cleanliness and suitability of the bridle and saddle combination to complement the horse, and the presentation of the rider to create a coordinated picture. This is not a Turnout Class. 3.Ridden Mount - Suitability, Manners & Performance The assigned judge shall assess the suitability of the mount for the child rider; the overall quality and presence of the horse; the manners, paces and education of the horse; acceptance of the bridle; and transitions between gaits. The greenness of a horse shall not impact the outcome. NOTE: For more information refer to the Guide to Showing booklet produced by the SHCA and available from the SHCV. 36. LADIES PARK HACK, OVER 14.2HH AND NOT EXCEEDING 15.2HH ENTRY FEE: $45.00 (GST Inclusive ) Winner: Sash & Runner Up: Top 10 Finalists: For the purpose of this event, a Park Hack is a well-educated horse which in the opinion of the judges is suitable for riding by a lady. The exhibit must be of quality, light in hand, and display appropriate manners and paces. The lady rider must be aged 17 years and over and should be presented in traditional attire. Ladies are permitted to ride sidesaddle. Bling is discouraged. This is a standalone class. Judges: 1. Type, Suitability & Overall Performance Anna Duffy (WA) 2. Manners & paces Leonie Walsh (QLD) 3. THE GILT EDGE CUP, EXHIBITS OVER 15HH ENTRY FEE: $45.00 (GST Inclusive) The SHCV Gilt Edge Cup will be presented to the Saddle Exhibit over 15hh, which, in the opinion of the Judges best shows thoroughbred qualities. Each exhibit will also be judged on their manners, paces and performance. Each finalist will be judged both led and ridden. The class is open to both mares and geldings. The exhibit may be presented by a lady or a gentleman. The exhibit must be ridden and led by the same person. This is a standalone class. Sash & Top 10 FINALISTS: Judges: 1. GROOM : Each exhibit shall be assigned one groom as nominated by the owner of the horse no later than 2pm to the Show Secretary. The nominated Groom must be an Active Riding Member of the SHCV. The groom must by suitably attired, be in possession of equipment appropriate to his or her role, and be presented to a high standard. The groom will attend the presentation area with the exhibit. Shorts, jeans, inappropriate clothing and inappropriate footwear are not acceptable and will be strictly enforced at the time of competition. The exhibit will not be permitted to start if the groom is not presented appropriately. The award for Best Presented Groom will be selected by the SHCV Committee. Competitors to nominate a groom for this event by 2pm on Saturday at the Secretary s Office. 9

38. THE ROYAL OCCASION PONY, NOT EXCEEDING 14.2HH ENTRY FEE: $45.00(GST Inclusive) Judges: 1. Overall Presentation, Suitability of Rider Anna Duffy (WA) 2. Ridden - Performance, Manners and Paces Leonie Walsh (QLD) 3. Led Conformation and Soundness Sue Quarrell (TAS) The Royal Occasion Pony class is designed to showcase the attributes of an outstanding show pony as ridden by an adult 17 years of age and over. Open to both Open Saddle Ponies and Show Hunter Ponies, each exhibit will be judged on the overall presentation of the combination, suitability of the adult and pony as a combination, and the manners, paces, conformation and performance of the pony. Pony not to exceed 14.2hh. This class is open to both mares and geldings and may be presented by a lady or gentleman. The exhibit must be ridden and led by the same person. This is a standalone class. TOP 10 FINALISTS : Sash & A judge shall be assigned to each category and the result shall be determined utilising the following point score system. Judge 1: 40 points Overall Suitability of Rider and Overall Presentation Judge 2: 30 points Performance, Manners and Paces Judge 3: 30 points Conformation and Soundness TOTAL: 100 points In the event of an equal placing, the higher score of the Judge 1 shall determine the outcome. If scores remain equal, the higher score of Judge 2 shall determine the outcome. If Scores remain equal, the higher score of Judge 3 shall determine the outcome. If all three Judges have exactly the same score for each section, the outcome for the equal placegetters shall be determined by the 3 judges conferring. No equal place shall be awarded. A groom must be provided by each exhibitor to assist them during the transition from Ridden and Led, and prepare the combination for their final presentation. The groom is not required to attend the presentation of the Winner and Runner-Up. The groom must be a financial Full Active SHCV Member. "Pirouette Award" for the highest placed owner rider combination in the new Royal Occassion Event. This is in memory of Comonella Pirouette, who was one of Keston Royal Occasion s first daughters in Australia out competing. Standing at 14.1 1/2h she was unbeaten in led classes at local shows and had many major wins including Champion at Melbourne and Adelaide Royals and twice was Victorian Junior RPOTY and then National Riding Pony of the Year. She then had a short career under saddle winning a broad sash at most outings before forced retirement and becoming a top broodmare. Pirouette was bred, owned, trained and ridden by Sharron Lewis- Tipping who would like to make this award to a combination that is doing just that in memory of her.
