Since the teams do not meet again in Lakeland during the first half, the games are scheduled to be made up in Tampa as part of a pair of doubleheaders when the teams meet for a series on May 29-31. LAST TIME: Tampa dropped a pitchers' duel in the series-opener at Lakeland, 1-0, on Friday night the game was called official in the middle of the 8th after continuous rainfall caused unplayable field conditions RHP Garrett Whitlock tossed 6.0 shutout innings in his Tarpons debut (5H, 1BB, 8K) Hoy Jun Park (2-for-3, CS) connected on the only two hits against Lakeland starter Alex Faedo (W, 1-3), who tossed a career-best 7.0 scoreless frames (2H, 1BB, 5K, 1HB) RHP Paul Young (L, 0-1) allowed the lone run of the game in the 7th (1.0IP, 1H, 1ER, 1BB, 0K) Tampa was held to a season-low two hits while suffering its fourth shutout loss of the season. GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION: After posting a 1.13 ERA in 40.0IP with Single-A Charleston, RHP Garrett Whitlock earned a promotion to Tampa. While with the RiverDogs, Whitlock logged 26-straight scoreless innings across five starts. That streak ended when the 21-year-old allowed 1ER in 6.0IP in his final start with Charleston on 5/11. Whitlock began a new run on Friday in Lakeland, tossing 6.0 shutout innings in a no-decision against the Flying Tigers. The Snellville, Georgia native scattered five hits and one walk while tallying eight strikeouts. FLORIAL EXITS: After going 0-for-2 with a pair of groundouts, Estevan Florial left the game in the 4th on Thursday, thus snapping his on-base streak at 32-consecutive games. The 20-year-old was first diagnosed with right wrist soreness but later learned of a fracture in his hamate hook bone that will require surgery. Florial is expected to be out until August. ERA LEADERS: Tarpon pitchers lead the Florida State League in ERA (2.75), strikeouts (401) and shutouts (6). Tampa's ERA ranks third in all of Minor League Baseball, trailing Single-A Augusta (2.54) and Single-A Lakewood (2.70). VS. CHARLOTTE: Tonight will be the fifth of 13 scheduled meetings between the Tampa Tarpons and Charlotte Stone Crabs. The Tarpons currently lead the season-series, 3-1, after winning the four-game set in Tampa on 4/26-29. In that series, Tampa batters hit.326 with 4HR and 25 runs scored. Angel Aguilar played in all four games and batted.462 (6-for-13, 2 2B's, 1 3B, 4RBI, 1SB).
