The information below is to help you with the arrangements for the Festival. Date The date for the 2012 Cobham RFC B Festival is Sunday 7th October 2012. Schedule for the Festival 8.30 am Parking open 9.00 am 9.30 am Registration 9.30 am Referees briefing 10.00 am Festival starts for all age groups 2.30 pm Scheduled finish Visiting Clubs We are very pleased to welcome the following clubs to our B Festival: BATTERSEA IRONSIDES CHOBHAM EFFINGHAM & LEATHERHEAD LONDON IRISH REEDS WEYBRIDGE SUTTON & EPSOM TEDDINGTON Festival Format The teams in each age group are drawn into 2 pools at the first stage, and there will then be a plate, bowl and cup final for the teams finishing 3 rd, 2 nd and 1 st in their respective groups. Location Cobham Rugby Club s main location is at the Memorial Grounds on Fairmile Lane, Cobham, Surrey, KT11 2BU. The Festival will be run on both sites, with the U11/U12 matches on the Covenham Grounds and the U7-U10 on the Memorial Grounds. 1
2 Site Plan Parking Parking, shaded yellow in the t map above, is provided free at a The Fairmile Inn orr Munro House, both off the A307 Portsmouth Road. To minimise disruption to the traffic flow, there will be no turning right off the main road into the parking areas so you should plan your approach to the club based on what ground you are playing on. For Munro House from the A3, go through the centre of Cobham, left onto Leigh Hill Road and left onto Fairmile Lane. See http:// /goo.gl/maps/zb18v. NB: There will be no access to the grounds from Fairmile Lane. Players and supporters are encouraged to arrive between 8:30am and 9:15am to ensure that we get the festival off to a prompt start which will be at 10.00am. 2
Registration Please ensure the Team Registration Form included in this document is completed and handed to the Registration Desk on the Ground relevant to your age group by 9.30 am. Referees We have secured the services of independent referees for the U11 s and U12 s age groups. Clubs are required to provide referees for all other age groups. The referees briefing will begin promptly at 9.30am next to each Ground s Registration Desk. Medical Facilities First Aid facilities will be available on both Grounds for the duration of the festival. RFU Recommendations Cobham RFC strongly supports the RFU recommendation that mouth guards are worn in case of accidental collision at Team Managers and Coaches are also reminded of the RFU recommendations that children should not be overplayed. To this end the tournament rules allow for larger squad sizes. The times and numbers of matches played are based on the Continuum: Under 7 and Under 8 - Key Stage 1: U7 s and U8 s playing Tag Rugby are reminded to BRING YOUR TAGS with you. 1. All matches to be of 2 halves of 5 minutes each way with 2 minutes for half time. 2. Each team will consist of 7 players taken from a maximum squad size of 12. 3. Match Points will be based on tries only with 5 points being awarded for each try scored. 3
Under 9 and Under 10 - Key Stage 2: Mini Rugby B Festival 2012 1. All matches to be of 2 halves of 6 minutes each way with 2 minutes for half time. 2. Each team will consist of 9 players taken from a maximum squad size of 15. 3. Match Points will be based on tries only with 5 points being awarded for each try scored. Under 11 and Under 12 - Key Stage 3: 1. All matches to be of 2 halves of 7 minutes each way with 2 minutes for half time. 2. Each team will consist of 12 players at U11 and 13 players at U12 taken from a maximum squad size of 18. 3. Match Points will be based on tries and conversions only with 5 points being awarded for each try scored and 2 points being awarded for each conversion scored. Extra time may be played for stoppages due to injury but will not be applied in any other circumstances. Matches must be brought to an end if the points difference rises to 30 points or more. 4
Food and Drink There will be a BBQ at both Grounds, with hot and cold drinks and sweets outlets providing food and refreshments throughout the day. Dogs For obvious health reasons, dogs are not allowed. Photography There will be a professional photography company on site who will photograph each team and make the photographs available to take away on the day. They will also take action shots which we may use for future publicity. Due to recent changes in legislation and best practice the RFU has published guidelines on the photography of children which are set out in the policy and procedures for the welfare of young people in Rugby Union. All Clubs entering this festival are asked to draw to the attention of parents/guardians that in entering their children in this festival they implicitly agree and accept that:- a) Photographic images may be taken of their son/daughter during the normal course of rugby activity by accredited photographers and/or other parents/guardians. b) The images may be used in the local press or in club publicity in line with RFU guidelines for the welfare of young people in Rugby Union.
