Sportsmanship on the field AND in the stands! Be positive and supportive. Keep encouraging your athlete to progress at their level. Remind your athlete to have FUN and be a part of the team. Cheer for all of our teams and athletes. Get involved and volunteer! YOU are critical to our success. Respect all club policies to ensure your child benefits fully from their Canton Lions experience.

All documents and payments must be submitted in order for your athlete to practice and participate in any way. Ensure your athlete is on time to practice and games. Help your athlete remember water and equipment needed each day for practice and games. Be supportive and positive ALWAYS. Require other family members and friends who are spectators to do the same. Are you interested in volunteering to serve on the executive board or chair or participate on a committee? Your participation is encouraged and NEEDED! Please talk to an executive board member to learn more about the role(s).

Football and cheerleading are team sports, which means everyone contributes to success. An attendance policy helps ensure safety with proper conditioning and practice time. Approved absences No impact to playing time/cheering during games. Excused absences A parent/adult family member MUST notify coach, cheer director or team mom minimum 1 hour prior to the start of practice or games. Every two excused absences : Cheerleader will sit out for ¼ of the game; Player will sit out ½ of the game. Unexcused absences Coach, Director or Team Mom is not notified prior to practice/game. Every unexcused absence (each one): Cheerleader will sit out for ¼ of the game; Player will sit out ½ of the game. All sit outs will begin at the start of the game. Athletes are required to attend entire games and support his or her team even during their sit-out time. ***Due to attendance sit outs, football players minimum play will be forfeited.*** Playoffs, Super Bowl and Cheer Rally Full attendance by all is expected. Please visit for the attendance policy in its entirety.

All necessary paperwork must be turned in no later than the Tuesday, July 10, 2018, parents meeting. It s a league rule: no practice and participation can take place until all paperwork is received. Paperwork includes: Concussion form signed by parent and athlete. 2 copies of a current photo. Medical release form signed by physician and parent. 2 copies of birth certificate for athletes new to the Canton Lions. How? Turn it in tonight. Bring to a monthly parents meeting. Or mail it to the Lions PO box.

Volunteer Requirements. Game Day Roles. Signup Process.

The club REQUIRES ALL parents to participate in FOUR home game day activities or special events per athlete during the football/cheerleading season. Failure to meet the requirements results in a fine of $125 per activity, and your child will not play/cheer or practice until the fine is paid in full. If cannot make your volunteer time, you must arrange for someone to replace you, and let the club know who is volunteering on your behalf. It is impossible for this club to operate without YOU!

Pre-game Setup: Six (6) volunteers set up the field and snack shack prior to the first game. Volunteers may be required to convene at the Lions shed to assist with loading the truck with supplies. Field Spotters: Two (2) volunteers provide play-spotting assistance to the game announcer for each home game. One spotter assists with the offensive plays and one assists with defensive plays, accurately identifying players for the announcer. Game Announcer: One (1) volunteer announces key plays, calls, referee calls, shout outs and players identities during each Lions home game. Concessions (Snack Shack): At least eight (8) volunteers prepare food and sell refreshments during each Lions home game. Because of liability reasons, no one under the age of 18 is allowed inside the Snack Shack! Cleanup: Six (6) volunteers needed to assist in spectator and Snack Shack area cleanup after the varsity home games. Volunteers may be required to convene at the Lions shed to assist with unloading supplies from the truck. Chain Gang: Volunteers hold down markers on the field during the home game.
