SJTPO s Answer: South Jersey Traffic Safety Alliance Bring together traffic safety professionals from the fields of law enforcement, education, emergency services, engineering and planning to: Develop region-wide traffic safety programs. Share successful practices. Exchange information. Support and advance traffic and pedestrian safety projects.
Safety Needs Assessment Survey Conducted every other year. 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004 Questionnaire about current traffic safety issues and possible problem locations. Provides information: SJTSA to develop programs SJTPO identify capital programming needs

Radar Speed Trailers Innovative agreement with FHWA to use federal planning funds. Outfitted with ATR s to support SJTPO s regional planning. Maintained by County Engineers and borrowed by police.
Sidewalks - Federally funded. - Completed Concept Development. - US 130 and US 9 projects funded in TIP. - SJTSA advice on sites and preliminary design schemes.
Alcohol/Drug Related Crash Analysis Requested by the Alliance. Defined correlation to road corridors, specific geographic areas, and non-geographic variables. Crash data from NJDOT website. Served as basis for State and municipal police DUI checkpoints.
