Proof of coverage may be required. Requests for season credentials should be made no later than two weeks prior to the first game. Space at the Thomas & Mack Center press areas for working media is extremely limited and priority seating will be at the discretion of Andy Grossman, Assistant Athletics Director for Communications. In compliance with the working code of the United States Basketball Writers Association, children, spouses, dates and pets are not permitted. Credentials will not be mailed - they may be picked up at the UNLV Media Relations Department (room 74 at the Thomas & Mack Center) by 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or inside the door at the bottom of the northwest tunnel ramp (media entrance) at the Thomas & Mack Center 90 minutes before tipoff. PARKING All parking is free of charge at the Thomas & Mack Center, but extremely limited. Passes for media-lot parking are available, however media-lot parking is also limited and restricted to media covering the game. Parking passes for the media are available on a game-by-game or seasonal basis through the UNLV Media Relations Department by request. Directions to the media lot are indicated on the back of each pass. TV vehicles ARE NOT permitted to park in the tunnel area. This is a fire regulation, please cooperate. PRACTICE COVERAGE Some non-gameday practices may be open to Las Vegas-area media. Interviews will take place prior to the start of those practices under the supervision of the Media Relations Department. No interviews may take place after practice. For more specific practice schedule information and media availability times, contact Andy Grossman, Assistant Athletics Director for Communications. Requests for one-on-one interviews for specific individuals must be submitted well in advance to the Media Relations Department. Every effort will be made to accommodate requests, however, previous commitments may interfere with the availability of specific individuals. Please contact Andy Grossman, Assistant Athletics Director for Communications for all media requests. GAMEDAY SHOOTAROUND COVERAGE All gameday practices (shootarounds) both at home and away will be closed to the media. No player interviews will be granted on gamedays prior to the game. Exceptions will only be made for television and radio crews broadcasting the game that day. INTERVIEWS All print, television and radio interviews are to be arranged through Andy Grossman, Assistant Athletics Director for Communications. This includes all coaches, players, trainers, support staff, administrators, etc. Please provide 24 hours notice on all requests to enable the Media Relations Department the necessary time to coordinate such requests. Please do not arrive on campus to conduct interviews without first arranging it through the Media Relations Department. POSTGAME INTERVIEWS For home games, the UNLV locker room will be closed to the media before, during and after games. After a brief postgame cooling-off period, Coach Rice and 2-3 requested players will be available for postgame comments in the Thomas & Mack Center s press room (Bob Blum Media Center). During Coach Rice's press room interview session, which will be pressconference style, one player will be live at courtside on the radio with UNLV's radio broadcast. After approximately 10 minutes of answering questions, Coach Rice will depart the media room to do a live radio interview courtside for UNLV's radio broadcast. The player that was live on the radio may be brought back to the media room for interviews following the radio appearance. Players will also participate in a press conference style interview session, which will take place after Coach Rice's session has completed. Requests for specific players to be brought into the media room following the game may be requested via text message to Andy Grossman, Assistant Athletics Director for Communications (702-630-3949) prior to the conclusion of the game. No UNLV interviews may be conducted in the locker room hallways at the Thomas & Mack Center. Visiting team interviews may be conducted in the hallway outside the visiting team's locker room. For away games, the UNLV locker room will be closed to the media before, during and after games. The same schedule as home games will be used for postgame interviews (travel schedule permitting), however, the location of the interviews will be outside UNLV's locker room door if the home team does not designate another area. weekly teleconference Coach Rice will be available to the media via the Mountain West's Weekly Teleconference, which generally takes place on Monday mornings during the MW season. Media wishing to participate can call the MW or UNLV for further information. The entire teleconference will be posted the same day on TheMW.com. 197
Media Services GAMEDAY SERVICES A pregame media meal will be served in the Thomas & Mack Center press room (Bob Blum Media Center). Complimentary soft drinks and water will also be available in the media room. Prior to tipoff, rosters and game notes will be available on the media room table. Media guides may be requested. Halftime and final statistics will be distributed to the media after copies are made. Copies of statistics may also be found on the media room table. A limited number of telephones are available on a first-come, first-served basis in the press room. Those outlets wishing to order their own phone lines should contact telecommunications technician Mark Horn at (702) 895-1742. The Thomas & Mack Center includes complimentary high-speed wireless internet access for credentialed working media. Please see a member of the Media Relations Department for access. VISITING RADIO CREWS Due to space limitations, only one radio station per visiting team will be accommodated courtside. To order radio lines, please contact telecommunications technician Mark Horn at (702) 895-1742. PHOTOGRAPHERS No freelance photographers will be credentialed. To be credentialed as a photographer, the individual must be directly working for either school involved or a newspaper, magazine or wire service covering the game on an editorial basis. All photographers sitting on the baselines must follow the rules set down by the UNLV Media Relations Department as outlined by the NCAA. Space is extremely limited and spots will be assigned and marked on the floor. Camera baskets are limited to the camera operator ONLY. SCOUTING PASSES Scouting passes for NBA scouts should be arranged through Andy Grossman, Assistant Athletics Director for Communications. Scouts must also purchase a ticket for each representative attending the game, which can also be arranged through the Media Relations Department. THOMAS & MACK CENTER DIRECTIONS From McCarran Airport: Exit airport via Swenson and head north approximately one halfmile. Travel through the stop light on Tropicana and turn right into the Thomas & Mack Center parking lot. From I-15: Exit east on Tropicana, turn left on Swenson and turn right into the Thomas & Mack Center parking lot. From the Las Vegas Strip: Head east on Tropicana approximately one mile, turn left on Swenson and turn right into the Thomas & Mack Center parking lot. CREDENTIALING INTERNET WEBSITES Internet companies that run sports-related content websites will be considered for media credentials to UNLV Athletics events ONLY if the company in question meets BOTH of the following criteria: The website in question must be directly affiliated with a traditional news service, agency or company and employ a full-time staff. Also, the individual or individuals representing the website in question must be a legitimate sports/news reporter and must provide written authorization from their respective editor to illustrate that they are directly affiliated with a traditional news service, agency or company. A letter from anyone other than an editor will not be accepted. The UNLV Media Relations Department has final authority on whether any individuals from any organization will be issued media credentials. Additionally, no live audio or video features will be permitted to originate from any UNLV Athletics event by a credentialed website.
