MOUNTAIN VISTA PTO NEWS August 2016 Ready, Set, STOMP.. School is back in session and our Mammoths are already learning! Your Mountain Vista PTO is gearing up for some great events and fundraisers this year. Here is a rundown of what to look forward to this year and how you can help. Look for our Save the Date flyer later in the newsletter. PTO Community Meetings: These meetings happen one night a month from 6:30-7:30 pm. PTO meetings are a great way to hear first-hand what is going on inside the walls of Mountain Vista, ask questions and give input! Principal Arritola is present at these meetings and always gives us the latest with MVE and Cherry Creek Schools. PTO Work Days: These work days are Tuesdays at 9:30 and Thursdays at 12:30. Come join us to work on PTO projects, teacher projects, and in the classrooms. You can come once or you can come every week. We would love to have your help! Spirit Days: These are the days to break out the ORANGE and BLUE! Wear your favorite Spirit Wear or school colors and help your school reach the required participation percentage to earn the special Reward Days! Reward Days: These special days occur on the Fridays after Spirit Wear Days if the school has reached the required Spirit participation percentage. These days are FUN for the whole school and include things like Pajamas, Freaky Friday (students dress like teachers), and Beach Day! Restaurant Nights: These nights are a blast at our local restaurants! Come enjoy a night out with your family and visit with other Mountain Vista families, teachers and staff! A portion of the proceeds from all of these nights goes right back to Mountain Vista! We have a huge turnout for our restaurant nights and want to keep that up. The local restaurants love to see us coming and we fill the dining room with ORANGE and BLUE! Stompede: Our first big fundraiser of the year! All students will participate in this fun event held in September during their specials time. Students will look for Mammoth Mark sponsors and then run laps around the school gathering Mammoth Marks. They will take their number of Mammoth Marks home and gather donations. This was a fantastic fundraiser for us last year and we were able to do so much for Mountain Vista with the money that was made from this event. Students will also earn great prizes!

Monster Mash: This is our annual Fall event that invites students and families to come participate in a fun day of family activities, games, trick or treating, and food! Costumes are welcomed to this event and look for the return of the Haunted House! Silent Auction and Family Fun Night: Professional Athlete Signatures, Tickets to Games, Birthday parties at Monkey Business, the coveted GRUB GRAB, and SO much more! Not to mention the games and food! This night is guaranteed to be a fun night for your family! Veteran s Day: This Event lets us celebrate the Veterans in our Mountain Vista community with a breakfast, assembly, and parade to show our gratitude. Donuts with Dad and Muffins with Mom: These are fun days to come eat a quick bite with your Mammoths and check out the wonderful Scholastic Book fair! We appreciate our Mountain Vista parents and we want to show you! Conference and Teacher Appreciation Meals: This is a great opportunity for those who are unable to volunteer during the day! We will ask a few different times throughout the year for donations of food and drink to feed our hard working teachers on some of their long days. Movie Night: Bring the family, your blankets, and lawn chairs and enjoy a movie and dinner on the big screen! 2015-2016 PTO Financial Wrap-up We know how important it is to know that the money and time that you put towards supporting the MVE PTO is being put towards improving your children s educational experiences. We are so thankful for your ongoing support and wanted to give you and update on what we have been able to do for Mountain Vista. In the 2015-2016 School Year, the PTO brought in over $27,000! Over $10,000 of that money went towards new technology for Mountain Vista, Another $10,000 went to grants throughout the school, $9,000 (Some of which was raised and carried over from the 2014-2015 school year) was used for the new Marquee, and the remaining $3,500 was used to host hospitality and community events as well as PTO operating expenses. SPIRIT WEAR DAY! AUGUST 23! Be sure to wear your Spirit Wear or School Colors in order to earn your first reward day on Aug 26 th : Sports Team Day!

Meet your Board: President: Becky Bridgham- This is Becky s second term as Mountain Vista PTO President. You can find Becky at the pool, teaching fitness classes, or motivating the rest of us! Vice President: Annie Bryan- Annie is also happily serving her second term as MV PTO Vice President. She was the recipient of the 2015-2016 Wendy Debell Exceptional Volunteer award! Treasurer: Sherrie Clark- Sherrie knows EVERYTHING there is to know about how to correctly and efficiently run an organized PTO. We would be lost without her knowledge. Secretary: Megan Laub- Megan is new to the PTO board this year but not new to volunteering! She has been a key volunteer all over MVE for the past 2 years and is always so willing to lend a hand. Fundraising: Valerie McCarthy- Val is our restaurant night and spirit wear extraordinaire! She has probably had a conversation with every restaurant manager in SE Aurora and proudly has the best participation for restaurant nights in the area! Events: Sharon Falder- Sharon is extraordinary! Every single little detail of our beautifully themed events comes from our hardworking Sharon. Communications: Amy Lynn-(Me) I am the girl behind the newsletters, Facebook posts and flyers. I am striving to communicate efficiently between the MVE community and the PTO. RESTAURANT NIGHT AUGUST 23! BAD DADDY S SOUTHLANDS 4-8PM

PTO Wish List: School is in full swing and your MVE PTO is hard at work to plan upcoming events and fundraisers. Until then, here are some of the things that we are looking for to make these occasions run smoothly. If you have some of these items around the house that are in good condition and you don t need them anymore, please bring them by the office. Others are good ways to help us purchase supplies needed for our hospitality events (Veteran s Day, Donuts for Dads, Muffins for Moms, Teacher Appreciation). We are under certain budget restraints when it comes to these types of events and donations are necessary to keep them going. -Dolly or Hand Truck -Flat Bed Cart -Blue Tooth Speaker or Portable Radio that can hook up to an ipod (good for sound for a larger area) -Blank ipod for music -Broom and Dust Pan -Carpet Sweeper -Free Standing STURDY Shelves -Small Tool Set -Plastic Storage Bins -Step Ladder Gift Cards to the following stores: -King Soopers -Safeway -Target -Walmart -Sams Club
