To: Editors/Assignment Editors PR10/2013 Ngong Ping 360 Advocates Better Physical Fitness; 100 Youths Skip to the 360 Beats Raise Fund for Make-A-Wish Hong Kong 48 Local Athletes Made a Successful Attempt in Breaking the Rope Skipping Guinness World Record (Hong Kong,14 April, 2013) The 360 Jump Rope Spectacular, hosted by Ngong Ping 360, kicked off recently at Ngong Ping Village. Ngong Ping 360 has specially invited the multi-awarded jump rope winning team Saltare Crew from the US to showcase their unique skipping moves and stunts in the Ngong Ping Village from now until May 5, offering exquisite visual experience for guests. Through the combination of dance choreography and pop music, Ngong Ping 360 hopes that the 360 Jump Rope Spectacular can encourage Hong Kong people to do more exercise and pursue better physical fitness and health altogether. Data from the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health in Hong Kong indicated that two in every five adults are overweight or obese, and more than one quarter of adults are suffering from high blood pressure; while younger people are increasingly affected by this trend 1. Overweight and obesity is an increasing problem among the Hong Kong public that subsequently exerts added pressure towards the heart. One of the main reasons is due to the lack of exercise. It is extremely meaningful for Ngong Ping 360 to hold this event and encourage the younger generation to do more exercise. Rope skipping is a great exercise to strengthen the body as it trains the body s reaction speed and endurance. Equipment needed for rope skipping is also very simple, while the limited space needed to skip rope and the flexibility of the number of participants is an added plus. All these factors make the development of a healthy exercise routine extremely easy. Dr. Chris KY Wong, President of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology says. Not only can guests come to Ngong Ping 360 to enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer, but they can, at the same time, enjoy the vibrant and exciting 1 Department of Health Hong Kong (2012) DH praises healthy eating (WWW) http://www.dh.gov.hk/english/press/2012/120313-4.html 1
