(R744) Service Station Recovery Controled discharge of the system : CO2 recovery flow rate will be limited to prevent freezing and explosive decompression. It should be performed outdoor or indoor if the equipment includes a provision to vent refrigerant outdoor with a flow control valve and a hose. Decompression rate 1 bar to 5 bar / min: it s necessary to verify the best rate in order to have the optimal speed of discharge operation. Page 5
(R744) Service Station Vacuum Evacuation and moisture removal : As for R134a, prior to charging R744a, the system should be vacuumed to an absolute pressure of 0.6 kpa or 0.006 atm for a minimum of 30 minutes. This is equivalent to a vacuum of 755,44 mm Hg or 4000 microns. The vacuum pump oil should be compatible with R744a lubricant. Electronic leak detection under vacuum. Page 6
(R744) Service Station Charge Internal vessel with minimized capacity for reaching the PED and safety requirement with connection to external standard R744 refill bottles sourced from the industry (5 bottles). This solution permit also to reach an high accuracy with a scale. The refrigerant charging controlled by an electronic scale with an accuracy of at least +/- 5 gr (1.25% @ 400g). The oil charging will be measurable with electronic scale, 1 2 gr resolution Automation with solenoids and electronic devices Page 7
(R744) Service Station Safety Full automatic control to avoid operator presence Monitoring of pressures and temperatures on LCD and / or Graphic display (HP & LP, ambient temp, air vent temp..) Heated tank controlled, with thermal safety device to regulate the temperature and pressure switch to disable heating element in case of excessive pressure. Safety pressure relief at the key points of the circuit. Automatic vehicle pressure detection (alarm) and safety pressure relief. No internal access for regular maintenance. (vacuum pump oil...) Sleeve quick couplers that don t permit the detaching if there is pressure on the connections CO2 sensor and alarm to indicate indoor saturation (To be define) Page 8
(R744) Service Station Other features CO2 sensor and alarm to indicate indoor saturation. (To be define) Integrated and updatable database with quantities, viscosity, pressure and temperature specifications per vehicle (Future). Comprehensive diagnostic program (Future). Flushing system is required. After a major repair & prior charging R744a, the system should be flushed from all contamination in way to remove particles and to set the correct quantity of lubricant (Future). Page 9
