GRAND FINALS in LANGKAWI / MALASYIA 22.11. - 26.11.2005 DRIVERS INFO NO.1 27.9.05 This is information for all qualified drivers and ROTAX distributors. By supplying all information and documents we are asking for, you will help us tremendously with the organisation and also avoid problems at the registration in Langkawi. It is the responsibility of the ROTAX distributors to send all drivers information to ROTAX. We kindly ask all qualified drivers to send information and documents to their distributors ONLY and not to ROTAX directly. This information has also been sent to all ROTAX distributors by e-mail. After an exciting karting season it s time to talk about the Grand Finals 2005. To guarantee a smooth course of the event we kindly ask you to follow these guidelines: REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: Please submit a COPY of your - passport, cover and pages with your photo - ROTAX Race ID - international C-grade license + entrant licence* 2005 (ESSENTIAL in LANGKAWI ) The international C-grade licence and the entrant licence will be issued by your national federation. Drivers under age of 18 have to order an entrant license on behalf of a parent or have to enter the Grand Final with a team, which holds such an international entrant license. - release letter stamped and signed by your national ASN (see enclosed file; page 9) - a digital picture with a very short driver profile in English (to be filled in attached word document and to be sent by e-mail) for the official race program to your distributor. * special entrant licence (a personal one or a team entrant license), which allows you to compete at this event

- 1 - FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO BOOKING, pls. send the above mentioned documents to your distributor FLIGHTS: RM1/Max class: Drivers have to organise their flight tickets and will be responsible for the flight costs. Junior class: The authorised distributor has to organise the flight ticket for the driver and is responsible for the costs. We kindly ask you to submit your flight schedule to your distributor, so that we are able to book your rooms ALL THESE DOCUMENTS ARE NECESSARY FOR DRIVER REGISTRATION in Langkawi VISA REQUIREMENT: All visitors from the Commonwealth countries EXCEPT those from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nigeria DO NOT NEED to apply for a visa to enter Malaysia. Nationals from USA, Switzerland, Netherlands, San Marino and Liechtenstein DO NOT NEED a visa to enter Malaysia. Visas are not required for visit NOT EXCEEDING 1 month for nationals of all ASEAN countries. Nationals of countries other than those stated above are required to obtain a visa before entering Malaysia. Please check with your local Malaysian Consulate or High Commission for further clarification. All travellers who NEED NOT apply for visas will be granted a Social Visit Pass at the point of entry into Malaysia. Everyone travelling to the ROTAX Max Challenge Grand Finals Langkawi 2005 are advised to send a photocopy of their passport to the organizer for submission to the Malaysian Immigration. ROTAX is not able to handle the flight booking / hotel reservations for your mechanics/friends. (this needs to be done by themselves). Further details pls. see page 5+6, point ACCOMMODATION EQUIPMENT: The complete chassis with tyres, a set of tool in a tools box and a trolley will be provided on a loan basis free of charge for the period of the Grand Finals 2004. Karts must be used as supplied with all its original equipment. Personal data recording is allowed to be used. (see. Supplementary Regulations you will receive in Langkawi)

- 3 - Chainspray will be supplied by ROTAX and Castrol free of charge Only tires (wet + dry), pre-mixed (unleaded 97 octane) which will be handed out in parc fermé are legal to use for free practice, time trials and all races. Petrol tank and tires will stay in parc fermé. Min. weight for RM1 driver + kart in ROTAX = 170 kg Min. weight for MAX driver + kart in ROTAX = 160 kg Min. weight for Junior driver + kart in ROTAX = 143 kg Lead can be rented in 1 kg blocks for EUR 6,00/kg at the ROTAX kart shop in Langkawi. To get your money back, lead must not be cut. Covered pit area with electricity available for all drivers. Engines, accessories + chassis have to be returned in cleaned condition after the races. Drivers will be charged for damaged parts which are not covered by warranty Tool boxes: will be supplied free of charge. When you return the toolbox, we will charge you for each tool missing 10 handling fee, but max 100 for the whole tool boxes. If you can t participate in the Grand Finals pls. inform your distributor immediately, as the next driver of the official national ranking will automatically qualify. INFORMATION ON ALLOWED EQUIPMENT: Out of safety reason only CIK homologated race-overalls and helmets are allowed. PLS. CHECK LATEST CIK HOMOLOGATION with your distributor. When will the event be held? Drivers arrive on Sunday or Monday depending on flight schedule. See timetable for event details. 2. Who provides the chassis? Karts will be supplied for all classes (all see next point). 3. What type of chassis will be used? How many engines and carburetors does each driver get? 1 engine with all its ancillaries and battery charger with Malaysian plug. 5. Who provides the space in tents and what does the driver and mechanic get in terms of help, tools and so on? Each driver gets a space allocated, a complete set of tools in a box. Electricity is supplied free of charge. 6. How are the required spare parts handled? Meaning how do the drivers get them if needed? Are they provided free of charge or need to be bought? All spare parts for RM1, CRG chassis, Swiss Hutless chassis and engines are available at a shop on the track.

- 6 - ROTAX will decide on warranty, damaged parts caused by accidents etc. have to be purchased by the driver. 7. Can one take their own carburetor for instance and use them? NO, all carbs and exhausts are marked with a number and supplied. 8. Do we have to take the necessary tools? No, but you can ( accu drill, etc.) 9. What kind of seats are provided or should the driver take their own? Only original seats (as supplied for each class) are allowed, drivers can chose from different sizes. 10. When can the drivers start training? See time schedule. 11. What is the training and racing schedule? Do you have it yet? See time schedule 12. What kind of accommodation is provided? 1 voucher for half of a double bedroom with breakfast per driver. 13. Can the mechanics stay at the same hotel, and if yes for what rates? Pls. see page 5+6, point accommodation 14. If the driver decides to stay at another hotel, could the mechanic(s) stay at the ROTAX designated hotel? Driver must not stay at different hotel, as he would risk to miss important information about changes etc. during the event. 15. Can I bring my own axle, seat, stubaxle, etc. NO As ROTAX tries to follow the spirit of the Olympic Games, similar rules will apply for the ROTAX MAX GRAND FINALS in Langkawi (Malaysia) Any major, unfair behaviour or cheating will automatically lead to the immediate exclusion from the event and hotel.
