National Squad Coach: Ben Craven - Head Coach (Pool, Gym & Dryland) Sessions per week 9 About National Squad National Squad is the highest level of the Ringwood Swimming Club squad structure at present. Swimmers in this squad are expected to attend a minimum of 8 pool sessions per week of 2 hours in duration. In addition to this, swimmers are expected to attend 2 gym sessions per week and dryland for 30 minutes prior to all pool sessions. National Squad trains alongside Performance Squad at many sessions, allowing a smoother transition of swimmers through the squads. Swimmers in this squad are expected to make the highest commitment to competitive swimming to achieve success at national level competitions. The Head Coach of the Ringwood Swimming Club is directly responsible for the training of National Squad. National Squad Selection Registered Competitive member of Ringwood Swimming Club Aged 13/O yrs. Have achieved an Age or Open National Qualifying Time Successfully passed a National Squad Entry Assessment conducted by the Head Coach to evaluate the swimmer's ability and commitment to competitive swimming qualifying/encouragement meets. Family of swimmer to provide assistance / timekeepers at club held meets. Minimum two meets per annum (whole day). Goggles, swim cap (compulsory), drink bottle, kick board, fins, pull buoy, hand paddles, band, snorkel (front facing) and mesh bag for equipment. April 2018 Page 1 of 12

Swimmers in this squad are expected to make a high commitment to competitive swimming to achieve success at state level competitions. Performance Squad Selection Registered Competitive member of Ringwood Swimming Club Aged 12 years or over Have achieved at least 3 Age or Open 100m or 200m LC State Qualifying times Successfully passed a Performance Squad Entry Assessment conducted by the Head Coach to evaluate the swimmer's training ability and commitment to competitive swimming. qualifying/encouragement meets. Aged 10 years or over Achieved a State Sprint qualifying time Excellent stamina Competing regularly at external swim meets Successfully passed a State Development Squad Entry Assessment to evaluate the swimmer's training ability and commitment to competitive swimming. qualifying/encouragement meets. In addition to this, swimmers are expected to do dryland for 30 minutes prior to all afternoon pool sessions. Swimmers are expected to make a commitment to competitive swimming to achieve success at external competitions. Development Squad Selection Registered Competitive member of Ringwood Swimming Club Correct Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle (must consistently compete in 100m events in at least 3 of these strokes) Good stamina Competing regularly at district and other club level swim meets Successfully passed a Development Squad Entry Assessment to evaluate the swimmer's training ability and interest in competitive swimming. qualifying/encouragement meets. Swimmers are expected to compete and work to achieve success in district level competitions. Ryan Squad Selection Desire to swim competitively with intention to be registered as Competitive member of Ringwood Swimming club (if not already registered as competitive.) Correct Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle. Ability to swim 100m in each stroke. Good stamina Competing regularly at club level competitions Successfully passed a Ryan Squad Entry Assessment to evaluate the swimmer's training ability and interest in competitive swimming. qualifying/encouragement meets. Family of swimmer to provide assistance / timekeepers at club held meets. Minimum two meets per annum (whole day.) Fry Squad Selection Correct Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle Basic understanding of Butterfly able to swim 10m Desire to take part in club activities and competitions outside the club Successfully passed a Fry Squad Entry Assessment to evaluate the swimmer's training ability. Transition only operates during school terms.
