HOW TO TAKE CARE OF A CHLORINE-FREE POOL A GUIDE TO THE SIX ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF POOL MAINTENANCE.
Less Maintenance with Less Chlorine Eliminating chlorine in pools can simplify the day-to-day handling, dosing and storage of chlorine and other pool chemicals. This means you can spend less time maintaining your pool and more time enjoying pure, fresh and chlorine-free water. Like any other pool treatment method, a chlorine-free pool still requires the six essential elements of pool maintenance: oxidation, ph control, alkalinity, algae control, physical cleaning and circulation. In the next six steps we show you how to manage a chlorine-free pool with the Clear Comfort system that uses a technology inspired by the way our atmosphere cleans our air.
1. Oxidation 2. ph Control Traditionally, liquid or granular chlorine or salt-generated chlorine provides oxidation. Clear Comfort is uses a hydroxyl-based advanced oxidation process, so oxidation without chlorine is a key function of the system. ph control is essential to clean, clear, stable water. Chlorine can wreak havoc with ph so it must be watched closely and kept in balance. Clear Comfort is ph-neutral so it doesn t effect the ph, but ph still needs to be balanced to assure levels are between 7.2 to 7.4.
3. Alkalinity 4. Algae Control Like ph, alkalinity must be watched closely and kept in balance. Alkalinity control provides a stabilizing environment for ph; therefore, successful ph balance is highly dependent on proper alkalinity and kept between 80 to 120 ppm. Clear Comfort does not affect alkalinity. Organic loading and sunlight creates algae. Shock treatments can prevent algae buildup. These treatments can be used with non-chlorinated shock, as needed. Clear Comfort handles day-to-day disinfection and oxidation; shock treatments would still be recommended as part of normal and expected pool maintenance.
5. Physical Cleaning 6. Circulation It s important to maintain water flow and remove debris. Brushing the sides and floor and vacuuming and backwashing the filter or rinsing the cartridges are a normal and expected element of pool maintenance. The longer the water circulates the better, and too little circulation results in higher levels of required chlorine. Clear Comfort uses air injection, so circulation is crucial for system operation, and 24-hour circulation is required for a chlorine-free pool.
What s the difference between maintaining traditionally chlorinated & chlorine-free pools POOL CARE 1. Oxidizer 2. ph Control TRADITIONAL CHLORINE Measure and balance chlorine / salt chlorine Adjust for the imbalance chlorine/salt creates; Manage environmental changes CLEAR COMFORT Self-balancing hydroxyl radicals and hydrogen peroxide ph neutral; Manage environmental changes 3. In the end, maintaining a chlorine-free pool is simple, practical and easier than traditional methods. And, swimming in a chlorine-free Clear Comfort pool is safer, more enjoyable and healthier.
