Welcome to our Bull Sale! Dear Friends & Fellow Cattlemen: On behalf of the Lawson Family and our guest consignors (Double D Farms, Stacy Angus and ACE Cattle Co.), I would like to invite you to join us for our 1 st Annual ROCK SOLID Bull & Commercial Female Sale April 14, 2012 at 1pm on the farm in Ewing VA. We feel to be profitable in the cattle industry one needs consistent production of cattle with superb traits. Our goal is to provide customers with breeding stock that produces uniform calf crops and replacement females. The bulls were grouped together in large grass pastures in late September, and fed a high roughage ration along with free choice hay and mineral until late March. The purpose of this feed ration is not to obtain maximum gains (average daily gain was 4.2 lbs per bull) and high yearling weights, but to develop a sound, functional and athletic set of breeding bulls. This allows us to eliminate the bulls that fail to respond when conditioning for the upcoming sale. To sum it up, we try to get the bulls into the same shape we like to buy them in! It is a great time to be in the cattle business and it appears everything is lined up so this cycle is going to continue well into the future.
