Plainfield January/February 2011 NFC Championship games Join us on January 23rd for the AFC/ NFC conference championship games. We will be serving stuffed meatballs, sausage, turkey, and FUN!!! The Queen of Hearts Comes to Plainfield Moose. There will be a new game rolling out the first of the year. The Queen of Hearts game is played and enjoyed at many other Moose Lodges. Soon you will see the Queen of Hearts board displayed, come in and find out what it s all about. It s our 13th Anniversary! Join your fellow Moose members in celebrating another milestone: our 13th year since founding! Pork chops, pork chop sandwiches and hearty homemade soups are coming back to the Moose on Saturdays! Enjoy lunch at the Lodge from 12 to 3:00, prepared by Jim Lawrence, owner of Annabell s BBQ. On Saturday, January 15th, we will be hosting a rib eye steak dinner (with salad and baked potato) from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Saganaki (flaming cheese) will be served as an appetizer! Cost will be $20 per person. Stick around for the band 2 Horse that follows and kick up your heels on the dance floor! Begins January 8th!

From the Corn-growin Governor Floyd Happy New Year to each of you! I trust you had a great Christmas and Santa was good to you! As I reflect back on our Lodge activities in the Fall, I want to say thank you to all of our members for all you do! Please keep it up! Fellowship and harmony are wonderful attributes in our Lodge! With so many excellent events, I cannot say thank you enough to the people that made these successful. Beginning with the car show, Oktoberfest, chili cook-off, Thursday chicken wings nights, football games, Black Wednesday Sliders night, and more, you all made it happen! Did you know we collected 714 turkeys at our Turkey Drop? Many needy families enjoyed delicious meals over the holidays because of our concerted effort! This collection, along with our annual toy drive, which netted over $2000 in toys and gift cards, make me very proud of all of you. Special thanks to the Thompsons and the Brazzales for decorating for Christmas! Once again the kid s Christmas party was a great happening, with approximately 80 children participating. A great time was had by all! The Lodge Christmas Dinner Party too was another success (pretty tasty too!). Thank you!! Finally we come to our membership one year ago we were 460 strong. Today we have 425 brothers, and signed approximately 25 new members. We all need to reach out to our brothers who have drifted away from us, and extend a hand of welcome back. Let us remind people of the great times, the fun, and our dedication not only for Mooseheart but to Plainfield as well! Again, thanks to everyone! Keep it up! Fraternally, Floyd Farmer Schultz Senior regent notes Happy Holidays to all! October and November were two of our busiest months! Thank you to all who helped and participated! Thank you to Sue McSorley and Kristen Partyka for chairing the Bunco party! Fun was had by all, great food and wonderful baskets were raffled. Also, thank you to all those who submitted a basket to be raffled. Thank you to Barb Thompson for a great job during Oct. and Nov. on collecting coats, hats, scarves and gloves for those in need. Thank you to the board and Amy Weiss, chairperson, for our Red Tassle and Red Stole ceremony on Nov. 3rd. The new inductees were Karre Schultz and Donna Flanagan. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the Turkey Drop a great success! We had a lot of volunteers and even if you didn t get to do much, the lodge surely appreciated everyone s help!! Congratulations to Liz Collins. She signed up two new members on that day and her dues will be free next year. The spaghetti dinner held on 11/26 was very nice! Thank you to the board for all their help! Everyone that came said it was a great idea! Tree trimming was done by Barb Thompson, Carol & Mike Corbett, Mary & Garry McCarthy. Liz Collins, Paul Fay and Don & Peanut Fredricks. The toy drive was another success! Thank you to Karre Schultz for cooking the ham. Our co-workers were busy making pierogis on Dec. 4 th. Wednesday, January 5 th, will be orientation for new co-workers. January 15, 2011 will be the lodge s 13th anniversary Party. We will have a wonderful Greek dinner created by Perry Kalantzis. We will be looking for new co-workers come May, 2011. If anyone has any interest, please see one of the board members. Today the Pack has 64 boys, 11 of which will be eligible for crossing over to Boy Scout Troops in February. In November the Pack went to Ringling Brothers Circus and made a field trip to Vulcan Gravel pit. They also participated in Plainfield Clean Up Week, organized by Conservation Plainfield. January 8, 2011 the Pack will be holding their Pinewood Derby at Eagle Point Elementary School. This will be their first race using their brand new 4- lane aluminum track that was purchased with the assistance of Moose Lodge 2491. THANK YOU!!!!!! If you visit the Lodge, please stop by the table in the back room. There is a Thank You card that the members of Pack 91 made for The Lodge s help with the Pancake Breakfast, and all their other support. The Troop will be meeting every Wednesday evening at the Crosswinds Church ( the old Plainfield Police Dept.). A letter was sent out to boys who have dropped out of other Units in town asking them to consider joining Troop 91. If you know of any boy 11 18 years of age who might like to join the Troop please contact me. The Troop is planning to attend the Rainbow Council Klondike in Morris the end of January. If you have any camping gear you have not used in a while, you might consider donating it to our new Troop. We could use Tents, stoves, pots and pans, or any other camping Stuff. The lodge is currently looking for a new Editor for our Moose Tales news letter, beginning with our March/April news letter. If you know of anyone with the talent and they are able to give a few hours of their time every two months, please contact me or any board of officers. The best thing you can do to support the kids and seniors of Mooseheart and our lodge is to sponsor new members. Remember the current campaign of THE TIME IS NOW is to reward you with Mooseheart paying your next years dues when you sign up 2 new members by next April 30 th. They ll continue paying your dues each year thereafter, when you sign up 2 additional members or more, during the Moose year period of May 1 st thru April 30 th.
