Big South Network Game No. 28 - February 27, 2012 UNC Asheville BULLDOGS (7-19, 3-12 Big South) Lynchburg, Va. - Vines Center - 7 p.m. Today s Game Liberty (19-8, 14-2 Big South) will welcome UNC Asheville (7-19, 3-12 Big South) to the Vines Center Monday evening at 7 p.m. The game will be a possible preview of the fi rst round of the Big South Women s Basketball Championship. The Starting Five - Today s Top Storylines 1) Monday s contest could preview the fi rst round of the Big South Women s Basketball Championship. Liberty clinched the tournament s No. 1 seed with its Saturday win over Gardner-Webb. Meanwhile, UNC Asheville would be in position for the No. 8 seed if the season ended today. The two teams have not squared off in the Big South Championship since 2005. 2) If it wins on Monday, Liberty would tie the Big South single-season record with its 15th conference victory. Additionally, the Lady Flames would seal their 14th 20-win season in program history. 3) UNC Asheville will attempt to snap a few losing streaks. The Bulldogs have lost eight straight games overall, nine straight games against Liberty and 15 consecutive road games, dating back to last season. 4) Devon Brown will aim to continue her stellar play against UNC Asheville. She is averaging 26.0 ppg during her last two matchups with the Bulldogs. 5a) Monday s game will present a pair of intriguing head-to-head matchups. Under the basket, Liberty s Avery Warley will square off with Asheville s Kelli Riles. Warley ranks No. 6 nationally in rebounding, with Riles close behind at No. 9. 5b) On the perimeter, talented freshmen Reagan Miller of Liberty and Shonese Jones of Asheville will go against one another. Both of them have won three Big South Freshman of the Week honors this season. Miller tops Big South freshmen in assists at 3.9 apg, while Jones leads conference rookies with 15.3 ppg.
