SUNTRUST GATOR INVITATIONAL MAR. 10-11, 2018 MEET THE COACHES KORY HENKES HEAD COACH COLUMBIA, SC SOUTH CAROLINA ( 04) Kory Henkes is in just her third season at the helm of Ole Miss women s golf, but already the program has undergone a transformation. As a student-athlete, Kory was a four-year letterwinner and a Southeastern Conference champion at South Carolina. Her coaching career began with a successful twoyear stint at Charleston Southern before she moved on to Augusta, where she led the Jaguars to three NCAA Regional appearances in four years. Her first year at Ole Miss brought the team s first top-10 finish at the SEC Championship since 2010. In Year 2, the Rebels broke a school record for stroke average at 298.5, the first sub-300 average in program history. Ole Miss has raised the bar yet again in Henkes third season. Guided by the best freshman class in school history, the Rebels set numerous team records while winning three straight tournaments to close out the fall season. Henkes provides professional caddying experience to the Rebel program. She has worked the bag for her brother, Kyle Thompson, on the Web.com Tour, as well as for Kristy McPherson on the LPGA Tour, and she has helped guide three individual medalists in her time at Ole Miss. Kory s husband, Kenneth, and her parents, Steve and Caryl, are some of Ole Miss golf s biggest fans. Catch them following Coach Kory and the Rebels at a tournament near you. A Class A PGA member, Belt was the head golf professional at West Lake Country Club in Augusta, Georgia, prior to joining Henkes in Oxford. He also served alongside Henkes as the part-time assistant coach of the Augusta Jaguars, as the pair built it into a perennial top-25 program. Belt is an outstanding technical coach, helping push the Rebel scores to all-time lows during his tenure. He has also been invaluable on the recruiting trail, playing a key role in scouting and recruiting numerous current Rebels. In the offseason, you can find Drew watching basketball at The Pavilion at Ole Miss. Be sure to follow his dog, @Charlie_Bean_Doodle on Instagram. 14

SUNTRUST GATOR INVITATIONAL MAR. 10-11, 2018 THE OCEAN COURSE INVITATIONAL RECAP KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. Windy conditions halted the red-hot Ole Miss women s golf team in the final round of The Ocean Course Invitational. The Rebels entered Round 3 in first place, having shot even par in Round 1 and Round 2, but no team touched even par in the final round, and only eight individuals were under par over the last 18 holes. Ole Miss finished in a three-way tie for fifth at 292-292-309--893. The course played really tough today, especially the back nine, said head coach Kory Henkes. We played in a constant 20 mph wind with 25 mph gusts off the ocean on the finishing holes, so decision making and the ability to be able to hit your ball in the proper location were crucial. Unfortunately, our wedges from 100 yards and in failed us today, so the team is eager to get back to work soon. Ball Wows in First Collegiate Tournament Despite coming up short collectively in Round 3, the Rebels had plenty to be proud of from their trip to Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Freshman Conner Beth Ball used a 68 (-5) in Round 1 to fuel a fantastic weekend. Making her collegiate debut, the Madison, Mississippi native finished tied for third at 4-under and earned a spot on the all-tournament team. Conner Beth played three solid rounds of golf this week, and we are extremely proud of her third-place finish against some of the nation s best players, Henkes said. She brings a big personality and competitiveness to our team that has helped us tremendously. She is extremely coachable and eager to learn as much as she can. I think the sky is the limit for Conner Beth. The competition certainly was tight in the Rebels season opener. Ole Miss showed it belonged among a field of 17 that included six teams ranked 31st or better in last year s final Golfweek rankings. Meanwhile, Ball beat out a host of top-100 amateur golfers though there was one she couldn t quite top. Wake Forest s Jennifer Kupcho, the No. 3 amateur golfer in the world, claimed medalist honors at a stunning 12-under par. The Ole Miss freshman came away thrilled with her weekend, not just in her performance, but in her first experience on the road as a Rebel. I went into this week trying to maintain a positive attitude and just enjoy the time with my teammates, Ball said. This weekend was so much fun competing for Ole Miss finally and helping put us on the map. This weekend keeps me and the team motivated to work harder for the future of our program and each of our individual careers. Rebel Roundup It wasn t all Ball. Junior Kie Purdom also put together the best tournament and the best single round of her collegiate career. The Lexington, Kentucky native was one of eight competitors to finish under par in Round 3. Her 72 on Tuesday was her first under-par round as a Rebel, and it set a new career-best. Her incredible finish also sewed up a 54-hole score of 223 besting her previous career mark of 226. Freshman Julia Johnson had a great collegiate debut as well. The St. Gabriel, Louisiana native shot 2-under (71) in Round 2 and finished the weekend 8-over par. She tallied 38 pars, just behind Purdom s tournamentbest 40. Sophomore Pi-Lillebi Hermansson matched Johnson s 71 in Round 2 and closed her tournament at 9-over, rounding out a group of four Rebels in the top 30. GAINESVILLE, FL MARK BOSTICK GOLF COURSE LADY PALADIN INVITATIONAL RECAP GREENVILLE, S.C. In Round 2, it was junior Kie Purdom with a career-best 70 (-2). In Round 3, sophomore Pi-Lillebi Hermansson raised the bar, shooting 3-under par (69) for the best round of her collegiate career to lead Ole Miss at the Lady Paladin Invitational. The Djursholm, Sweden, native recorded the first eagle of the year for the Rebels on Furman Golf Club s par-5 second hole and bogeyed just once. Ole Miss wrapped up play with its best round of the tournament, finishing 12th at 311-294-293--898. We are proud of the way the team fought back after a rough first round, said head coach Kory Henkes. They could have easily given up, but they chose to grind it out the final two days. We saw several great scores today, and this will give them some momentum leading into our cohosted home event next week. Hermansson tied for the third-best score in Round 3, going 4-under on the course s four par 5s thanks to an eagle and two birdies. Pi had a great attitude today, and it proves that she is a fighter, Henkes said. She didn t start the tournament as well as she had hoped, but she played extremely solid today. It was great to see her keep her composure and post a low round. Freshmen Conner Beth Ball and Julia Johnson each finished 1-over par (73). Ball, a Madison, Mississippi, native tallied a team-high five birdies in an up-and-down final round. Johnson carded four to finish 8-over (224) for the tournament, three strokes better than the St. Gabriel, Louisiana, native s debut two weeks ago at The Ocean Course. The Rebels individual, junior Diane Lim, had a strong third day. Lim was feeling comfortable just about two hours from her hometown of Suwanee, Georgia, as she offset three bogeys with two birdies for a 73 to wrap up her first tournament as a Rebel. Her 226 came as the best of all golfers competing as individuals in Greenville. After a combined 17 birdies in the first two rounds, the Rebels totaled 14 birdies and one eagle in the third round alone. Ole Miss will have a quick turnaround as it plays co-host alongside Mississippi State for the Magnolia Invitational at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point. The Rebels home tournament runs Oct. 1-3. SUNTRUST GATOR INVITATIONAL MAR. 10-11, 2018 MAGNOLIA INVITATIONAL RECAP WEST POINT, Miss. Behind a nerve-wracking individual victory by freshman Julia Johnson, the Ole Miss women s golf team captured its first team tournament title under coaches Kory Henkes and Drew Belt. Johnson closed out Memphis sophomore Abby Herrmann in an intense two-hole playoff, and the co-host Rebels held off a strong Round 3 charge by the Tigers to secure a seven-stroke victory and a sweep of the inaugural Magnolia Invitational at Old Waverly Golf Club. It s pretty unbelievable. It still hasn t all sunk in, Henkes said. It hasn t happened in a couple of years now, and it s my first and coach Drew s first since we ve been at Ole Miss. It s not only going to help recruiting-wise, but it s going to help the girls on the team now. It s going to show them that they can do this, that winning isn t unrealistic anymore. It s something they re going to strive for each and every week and be disappointed if they don t get. I think this is just the kick start that they needed to keep on a good roll. Team 32 Makes History This marks Ole Miss first team tournament victory since the 2015 Samford Intercollegiate, the second in the last decade, No. 16 in program history and just the seventh in a 54-hole event. At 278-289-287--854, the Rebels finished just one stroke off the lowest three-round score in program history, and they set a new school record for the lowest score in a tournament victory, besting the previous mark of 885 set in 2001. The Rebels brought a 12-stroke lead into the day and took to the tee box ready to close out a historic win. Ole Miss played to 4-under as a team on the front nine and added three more birdies on the 10th hole, though nerves set in late while Memphis narrowed the gap. Freshman Conner Beth Ball recovered from an over-par Round 2 to play a key role in sealing the team win. She picked up birdies on nine and 10 and strung together eight pars to finish the round at 2-under, the best score of the day for the counting squad. The Madison, Mississippi, native finished tied for fifth (69-75-70--214) for her second top-five finish in three collegiate tournaments. She edged her previous personal best of 215, set in her third-place finish in the season-opener at The Ocean Course Invitational. Sophomore Pi-Lillebi Hermansson was instrumental in the final two rounds as well. She came back from a difficult Round 1 to go under par on each of the final two days. The Djursholm, Sweden, native posted four birdies in Round 3, including one on the treacherous 18th hole. She finished tied for 12th, tying her best collegiate finish. Junior Diane Lim was playing in just her second tournament as a Rebel and her first in the counting five. The Suwanee, Georgia, native fought her way through a pair of bogeys on the back nine and holed a critical birdie on the 15th hole. At 72-77-74--223, Lim turned in her best performance and her best finish (T25th) in an Ole Miss uniform. Junior Kie Purdom was on pace to provide the fourth counting score for the Rebels. She was at even par going into 18, where she found trouble like many others did on the treacherous finishing hole. Nonetheless, the Lexington, Kentucky, native put together a spectacular three days at Old Waverly. Her personal-best 69 in Round 1 set the tone for the lowest tournament score of her career at 220. She tied for 17th to round out a group of five Rebels in the top-20. The fifth name on that list was senior Katy Harris. Playing as an individual, Harris was razor sharp in Round 3. The St. Simons Island, Georgia, native fired five birdies on the final day, including three in her first seven holes to finish at 3-under (69) and claw her way into the top-20 at 4-over for the tournament. Freshman Macy Holliday made it seven Ole Miss golfers in the top 30 with a strong collegiate debut. The Dallas, Texas, native went 2-over (74) in the last round thanks to three birdies and wrapped up an impressive first tournament score at 73-77-74--224 (+8). Everybody was playing well, Henkes said. Every time you turn your head, you see somebody making a putt for birdie or par, fist pumping. The energy level was really high today. All the girls really pull for each other. We really have a family atmosphere. It s a lot of fun to see everyone play well. I couldn t be more excited for this team. Johnson s Historic Win Johnson earned the 21st individual championship in Ole Miss history and the first since Harris won the Palmetto Intercollegiate last fall. A native of St. Gabriel, Louisiana, Johnson is just the third freshman to win a tournament in the Rebels history, and she s the first since Lauren Mellen won the 1995 Mardi Gras Invitational four years before Johnson was born. Johnson is the first freshman to win a 54-hole tournament in program history. The young Rebel s three-day score of 68-69-72--209 marked the best score in a medalist performance in school history, edging Abby Newton s mark of 210 at the 2014 Memphis FedEx Intercollegiate. It came just four strokes shy of LPGA Rebel Dori Carter s all-time mark of 205, set in 2008. Johnson endured an incredible late surge by Herrmann, who carded three straight birdies on 14, 15 and 16 to cut the lead to two strokes with two to play. A double-bogey by the Ole Miss freshman on the 17th hole erased that cushion. The nerves affected both competitors on 18, as each of their drives found the water. They both recovered for bogey to set up a playoff on the very same hole. After trading pars in the first playoff, Johnson took advantage of an errant second shot by Herrmann in the second playoff, again on 18, and she closed out the win with a par. I m exhausted. I had to play 18 three times in a row, and that s always hard, Johnson said. But I m really happy. Coach Henkes? She s happy too. I think this is going to be the first of many for Julia Johnson, Henkes said. She s a great player, and I m happy to have her as an Ole Miss Rebel. GAINESVILLE, FL MARK BOSTICK GOLF COURSE PALMETTO INTERCOLLEGIATE RECAP KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. The Palmetto Intercollegiate brought the highs and the lows that are associated with a team as young as Ole Miss. But junior Diane Lim was the consistent force the Rebels needed to sweep the team and individual titles at Turtle Point Golf Course. Ole Miss claimed the lead through Round 1 before gusting winds and heavy rains caused the Rebels to slip to second through 36 holes. Led by Lim s tournament-best 68-74-71--213 (-3), Ole Miss went low once again in Round 3, finishing at 290-301-292--883 to hold off Kennesaw State by eight strokes. Team 32 made history once again, becoming the first Rebel squad ever to complete a tournament sweep in back-to-back events. Kory Henkes and Drew Belt s team is the first in program history to win two 54-hole tournaments in one season. I am just so proud of all the hard work Coach Belt and the team have put into everything they do this year, Henkes said. It was great to see the team bounce back after a tough finish in Round 2. They showed a lot of grit out there today and proved that they came to play. The Wedge Wizard Wins Lim, dubbed the Wedge Wizard by her teammates, found the top of the podium in just her third tournament with the Rebels. The Coastal Georgia transfer previously won six tournaments and earned All-American honors at the NAIA level, but winning in the Rebel red and blue felt unlike anything else in her golf career. This win wasn t like any of my previous ones, Lim said. The scale of winning with Ole Miss doesn t compare with anything I ve experienced before. It just felt great to be out there with the girls and get the job done. The Suwanee, Georgia, native got the job done when it mattered. She opened her tournament with a personal-best 4-under (68). The junior then endured the elements in Round 2, finishing at 2-over to remain in a tie for first place. Lim faltered a bit in the early going in Round 3, feeling the nerves of her first battle for a win as an SEC golfer. But after bogeys on the first and fourth holes, she settled in. I was pretty nervous at the beginning of this last round and it showed, Lim said. I bogeyed No. 1 and No. 4, and I knew I really needed to turn it around if I wanted a chance. She did just that, earning her nickname with excellent approach shots to set up short birdie putts on the fifth, sixth and 10th holes. She played her final 14 holes at 3-under to finish the tournament at 3-under and she needed every stroke. Xavier sophomore Mikayla Fitzpatrick, last year s Big East Freshman of the Year, birdied three of her last five holes to finish at 2-under. Par 5 Performances Set Stage for Victory The Rebels trailed Kennesaw State by one stroke going into Round 3, but after outstanding play on the par 5 fifth hole, they regained control. The fifth hole was a microcosm of the tournament for Ole Miss. There were highs (eagles by Julia Johnson and Pi-Lillebi Hermansson) and lows (bogeys by Conner Beth Ball and Johnson and a double-bogey by Lim). But in Round 3, Johnson, Lim, Ball and junior Kie Purdom all birdied to give the Rebels the lead. It s always great to see birdies on par 5s, Henkes said. Our team has length as one of its strengths, so we have to capitalize when we can. The Rebels dominated par-5 scoring, coming in at 8-under for the tournament. The next closest teams were four strokes back at 4-under. Johnson Continues Hot Streak Johnson led the Rebel charge on par 5s, playing them 4-under over three days. Coming off her first collegiate win at the Magnolia Invitational, the freshman from St. Gabriel, Louisiana, stayed hot with a top-five finish, tying for fourth at 70-77-72--219. She was in second place after 18 holes, two strokes behind Lim, but a double-bogey amid a rainstorm on her last hole of Round 2 knocked her out of the top five. She bounced back in Round 3 with three birdies, including one her last hole to move her to a tie for fourth. Julia has proven once again that she is a competitor, Henkes said. She struggled during Round 2, so it was huge for her to pull through with a score of even par today. It is nice to have her consistency and fierce attitude in our lineup week in and week out. Team 32 Trending Upward The Rebels finished with their second lowest score in a tournament win (883), trailing only the early-october win at the Magnolia Invitational (854). This is the 17th team title in program history and the eighth in a 54-hole tournament. It s the first time the Rebels have won back-to-back tournaments since the 1994-95 season. Lim s victory is the 22nd individual title in team history. Her score of 213 comes as a personal best at Ole Miss and is the fifth-lowest score in a tournament win in program history and is tied for the sixth-lowest 54-hole score shot by a Rebel. As a coaching staff we have put a lot of effort into the culture and expectations of this team, so it is rewarding to see positive results coming from everyone buying into our program, Henkes said. I know we are headed in the right direction and look forward to competing for more titles in the future. We are going to enjoy this win for a day or two and then get back to the work as we prepare for our final fall tournament in Hawaii. Ole Miss has a quick turnaround before its final tournament of the fall season. The Rebels leave Oxford once again in three days to head to Hawaii for the 2017 Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Oct. 31-Nov. 1. SUNTRUST GATOR INVITATIONAL MAR. 10-11, 2018 RAINBOW WAHINE INVITATIONAL RECAP TOURNAMENT SNAPSHOT TOURNEY INFO Date: Oct. 31-Nov. 1 Location: Wahiawa, Hawaii Course: Leilehua Golf Course Host: Hawaii TEAM Finish: 1st Score: 287-286-288--861 Birdies: 50 Par or Under: 9 In the 60s: 1 WAHIAWA, Hawaii The Ole Miss women s golf team continued its historic fall season, winning the 2017 Rainbow Wahine Invitational Wednesday, the Rebels third straight team tournament title. The Rebels are on the longest tournament win streak in the program s 32-year history and tied the school record for the most wins in a single season, a mark set in the 1992-93 campaign. Title No. 3 came by a margin of just three strokes. Ole Miss and second-place Grand Canyon played identical third rounds at 288, but the Rebels used a few timely birdies late to earn the program s ninth title in a 54-hole event at 287-286-288--861 (-3). Individually, all six Rebels finished in the top 15, including four in the Top 10. Everyone played great this week across the board, all six of our players, said head coach Kory Henkes. It s hard to win a golf tournament Everyone has to be on all three rounds. No matter what the field s like, it s a tough thing to do. It was really cool to see our younger players step up, and it was really exciting to see us end our fall season like this. The Rebels entered the day with just a three-stroke lead on Grand Canyon, which shot the lowest tournament score in its history. It looked early on like the Rebels might run away with it. Conner Beth Ball, Julia Johnson, Diane Lim and Kie Purdom all knocked down birdies in the early going to give Ole Miss a seven-stroke cushion. Henkes group carried its lead through much of the round but never could separate. Ole Miss totaled 16 birdies on the day, but Grand Canyon totaled 15, keeping the pressure on the Rebels throughout the match. Grand Canyon played great, Henkes said. They re a great team. It was fun to play with them. Ole Miss powered through its most troublesome stretch on the course in Round 3. Holes 12-14 brought 13 bogeys or worse in the first two rounds, but the Rebels combined for just two in that span in the final round. However, they weren t home free. A few scattered bogeys late in the round cut the Ole Miss lead to just two strokes, but the Rebels found a way. It was definitely nerve-wracking, Henkes said. It s just one of those times where you have to put your trust in your players that they know how to get it done. That s exactly what they did. One way or another, all five of the Rebels counting golfers came through. After a tough front nine, Purdom played 1-under with three birdies on the back to finish the tournament at 3-over (219) and in a tie for 11th both careerbests for the Lexington, Kentucky, native. Lim birdied her second-to-last hole to finish the day at even par and preserve the Ole Miss lead. That birdie was No. 12 on the tournament, the most by a Rebel in Hawaii and a new career-high for the junior from Suwanee, Georgia. Pi-Lillebi Hermansson overcame a tough start to the round for her first career Top 10 finish. The sophomore from Djursholm, Sweden, played her last nine holes 2-under par to finish the tournament at even par (216), setting new personal-bests in tournament score and finished tied for seventh. Ball birdied two of her first four holes to push the Rebels out to an early lead, but she fell back to even par for the day with two bogeys on the back nine. However, the freshman from Madison, Mississippi, ended her fall season exactly how she started it: with a birdie. That last birdie gave Ball three top-10 finishes in her first five collegiate tournaments. I started the season with a birdie, and it felt so good to end the season with a birdie, Ball said. I m so proud of this team and what we have started here this fall. It was a great freshman fall for both Julia and me, but I can t wait to watch us continue to grow into our games. After battling a sinus infection all week, Johnson was in contention for the win in Hawaii. She recorded back-to-back birdies on the fourth hole to move into sole possession of first place. The freshman from St. Gabriel, Louisiana, didn t quite have the winning magic down the stretch at Leilehua Golf Course, but she still came away with her third consecutive top-five finish in a tie for third. But at 3-under, Johnson wasn t even the Rebels top finisher. Katy Harris, competing as an individual in Hawaii, grabbed that honor with a birdie on her final hole to finish in second place. She tied a personal best at 3-under (69) in the final round and at 4-under (212) for the tournament both marks set during her 2016 Palmetto Intercollegiate championship run. It felt really good, Harris said of her last round. I played very consistent today and just never made any mistakes. I left a lot of shots out there on the first two rounds, which is disappointing, especially when I only lost by one, but all-in-all, it was a good three rounds. Harris played at even par or under all three rounds and went bogey-free in Round 3. The competitive senior from St. Simons Island, Georgia, couldn t help but think of the strokes left on the course that could ve could ve pushed her past tournament winner Sydney Colwill (-5) of Memphis. All in all, she came away pleased with the way she closed her fall season. It feels really good to end the season with a second place (finish) since I haven t been playing well this semester, Harris said. I m glad my hard work is showing though, and I m excited for the offseason to just work on my technique and get ready for what really counts the spring. Ole Miss wrapped up the best fall season in program history and is well on its way to the best full season ever. Prior to this year, the Rebels had never won more than one 54-hole tournament in a season, and they ve won three in the past month. The spring will bring a challenging schedule filled with SEC competition, but Henkes and assistant coach Drew Belt are excited to see how three hard-fought wins will equip the young Rebels going into the spring. It s a huge confidence builder for teams to get wins. It s important to see yourself in the winner s circle. That s what we did these last three weeks, Henkes said. I m really excited for the girls. I m just so proud of every single person on our team. It s been a joy to coach all of them. Coach Drew is a huge part of our success as well. We really work well together. Just to see the progress on a daily basis has been the best part, not only as golfers but as individuals as well. Seeing each player grow and get stronger, it s been a real joy to coach this team. We re really looking forward to getting better this offseason. GAINESVILLE, FL MARK BOSTICK GOLF COURSE FALL RECAP FALL SEASON SNAPSHOT #Team32 is more than just a hashtag. It s a mindset that has helped the 32nd team in Ole Miss women s golf history bring the program to new heights. When Kory Henkes and Drew Belt arrived in Oxford, they inherited a program that had won just two tournaments since 2004. Now just halfway through their third year, the Rebel coaching duo has orchestrated the most successful stretch of golf in program history. Ole Miss captured three straight tournament wins to close the fall season, tying the school s single-season wins record. You always hope for this kind of success, but it can be hard to believe it until it really happens, Henkes said. The girls did amazing this fall. The 2017-18 Rebels believed right from the start. They began their season on a mission to put the program on the map, so Belt created the #Team32 mantra to represent that mentality. It started with a hashtag, but it grew into a rallying cry for the team. We didn t go into the season thinking, `We want to be good one day, Belt said. We want to be good right now. What are we going to do that s different than any other team? What s going to be our legacy? What are people going to talk about when they think of this season? That s where Team 32 came from. The Rebels showcased that mindset immediately. They opened the 2017-18 campaign at one of the toughest golf courses in the United States, The Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. After 36 holes, they were in the lead--ahead of No. 44 NC State, No. 32 Florida State, No. 29 Tennessee, No. 25 Vanderbilt, No. 24 North Carolina, No. 20 Wake Forest and No. 16 Florida. Treacherous weather conditions derailed the young Rebels on the final day of the tournament, but there was still plenty to be proud of. Ole Miss finished tied for fifth among some of the best teams in college golf, and Conner Beth Ball tied for third in a stellar collegiate debut for the freshman from Madison, Mississippi. The following event was the only off tournament of the fall for Ole Miss, and it truly featured just one poor round. Take away the Rebels opening-round 311 at the Lady Paladin Invitational and sub it with their average round of 292.6, and they re in fifth place. I couldn t have asked for a better fall season, Henkes said. I think we had one poor round of golf this whole fall at Furman, and that really hurt us for that tournament. But other than that, it was a pretty amazing fall for the girls. After the trip to Furman came the amazing part. A week later, Ole Miss co-hosted the Magnolia Invitational with Mississippi State at Old Waverly Golf Club. After three spectacular rounds of golf, the Rebels came through with one of the biggest wins in program history. Ole Miss topped four SEC rivals, as well as a top-50 program in Memphis, shooting the team s lowest score (854) ever in a tournament win. Meanwhile, freshman Julia Johnson won a thrilling two-hole playoff to become the first freshman in Ole Miss history to win a 54-hole tournament. It was the Team 32 philosophy coming to life on Mississippi s finest golf course. Julia straight up told us when we were recruiting her that she wanted to come in and make a difference and change things, Belt said. This team came in wanting to change the history of Ole Miss women s golf. A couple of weeks later, they changed more of the history of Ole Miss women s golf. The Rebels headed back to Kiawah Island, this time to Turtle Point Golf Course for the Palmetto Intercollegiate. There, they became the first Ole Miss team to sweep the team and individual titles in back-to-back tournaments. Junior Diane Lim, another newcomer, shot 4-under par (68) in Round 1 and went under again in Round 3 to capture the seventh individual title of her collegiate career. The NAIA All-American from Suwanee, Georgia, led the Rebels to a team victory over No. 34 Kennesaw State and others. An immediate turnaround had Ole Miss back on the road after just two days at home in Oxford. This time Team 32 flew to Hawaii for the Rainbow Wahine Invitational. After some sightseeing in paradise with The Season cameras rolling, the Rebels went to work, shooting all three rounds at even par or under to secure a third straight victory. Ole Miss didn t quite complete the sweep, but it was perhaps the best team effort of the season. Playing as an independent, senior Katy Harris finished in second place, tying a career-best (212) tournament score. Johnson grabbed a third-straight top-five finish, tying for third to close an outstanding fall campaign. Ball tied for seventh for her third top-10 finish of the fall. Pi-Lillebi Hermansson captured her first career top-10 finish, also tying for seventh. Kie Purdom recorded a career-best 11th-place finish, and Lim rounded out all six Rebels in the top 15 in a tie for 14th. Ole Miss returned from Hawaii with a suitcase full of personal bests, another trophy for the collection and the first threetournament win streak in school history. Three wins--that s tough to do. It s not easy to win a golf tournament when you re playing against 12-15 other teams, Henkes said. The fun part is they re hungry to get better. They re not satisfied with how they did. They want to keep getting better during this offseason and have a good spring. The three wins all spanned exactly one month, during which the Rebels averaged 288.7 per round, seven-tenths of a stroke above par. They ve played just half a season, but they ve already rewritten a litany of school records, including the most rounds at par or under (33) and the most rounds in the 60s (nine)--and more are within reach. To make that happen, the Rebels must maintain their level of play. In the last two seasons, Ole Miss has shot nine strokes better on average in the fall compared to the spring. That effect has hit the hardest in the first few tournaments out of the break, and Henkes is hoping this team reverses the trend, just as they did all fall. In the past, we just haven t looked great coming back out of the offseason to be pretty blunt, Henkes said. It s good to take a little bit of time off. Everybody needs a break. It s good to enjoy the holidays, but each girl has an assignment, whether it is something in the weight room or swing related or short game, so we re encouraging them to keep up with their progress. Because they ve made so much progress that we don t want to see them start backtracking. While the Rebels have had a fantastic fall, the intensity will increase in the spring. SEC Golfer of the Week honors are up for grabs. Ole Miss will travel to three tournaments hosted by SEC teams, not to mention the conference championship itself. Then, if all goes to plan, the Rebels will go to their first NCAA Regional since 2013. While the fall has been record-breaking, there are still plenty of goals out there, including that NCAA berth, but to get there, Ole Miss still must earn it. Henkes is confident her group will do that off the course this winter, and then on it in the spring. We have a group of girls that wants to win, Henkes said. They want to play, and I have no doubt that they re all going to stick to their gameplan over this winter and work harder so that when they come back into the spring they re coming out of the gates strong. The Rebels are scheduled to open their spring season on Feb. 26 in Las Vegas at the Rebel Beach Invitational. 25

SUNTRUST GATOR INVITATIONAL MAR. 10-11, 2018 REYNOLDS LAKE OCONEE INDIVIDUAL COLLEGIATE CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP EATONTON, Ga. -- The circumstances were unusual at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Individual Collegiate Championship, but the Ole Miss Rebels made the most of it to start the 2018 spring season. Katy Harris tied a personal-best, shooting 3-under (69) to finish in a tie for second at the Lake Oconee Great Waters course. It marks the second-straight runner-up finish for the senior from St. Simons Island, Georgia. Playing well today just gives me confidence going into the rest of the qualifiers we have coming, Harris said. I worked really hard over the break to make the correct adjustments to my swing, and I worked really hard on my short game as well preparing for this semester. Even though we didn t get to play the full tournament, I think it was good just to get into that tournament mindset. Originally set for a practice round Saturday and 36 continuous holes of competition on Sunday, the Rebels spring opener was rescheduled to an 18- hole sprint on Saturday due to the threat of heavy rain. With the change in plans, assistant coach Drew Belt and the team had to improvise. We found out about not being able to play a practice round on the way to the tournament, Belt said. Obviously, some of the girls were quite anxious about not being able to see the course. When we arrived at the hotel, we basically did a walkthrough of every single hole online, going over the yardages, slope, club selection, etc. Waking up today they all had a game plan all set and were ready to play. Saturday s start was delayed due to thick fog, but when the action finally began, Harris showed early that she would be in contention for the win. She started on No. 8 and birdied her third hole of the day and vaulted to the top of the leaderboard with consecutive birdies on the 14th and 15th holes. Harris briefly moved to 4-under with a birdie on the fifth hole, but she followed it up with her only bogey of the day on No. 6. She finished in a four-way tie for second place, one stroke behind Auburn sophomore Kayley Marschke. Harris hit the 3-under (69) mark for the fifth time as a Rebel. It s one off of her collegiate best of 68, set during her sophomore season at Mercer. Katy has stepped up this winter, Belt said. She was 100 percent ready to go this morning and very determined. Three under was about the worst score she could have had. She is in midseason form and is excited for Las Vegas. Macy Holliday carded the second-best score of the tournament for Ole Miss at 3-over (75). It took the freshman from Dallas a few holes to settle in, playing in her second collegiate tournament, but she played bogey-free over her final 10 holes, including a birdie on her second-to-last-hole. Martina Flori and Diane Lim rounded out the fourperson traveling team for Ole Miss. Flori tied her second-best round this season, while Lim battled through illness to finish 7-over. The four Rebels who made the trip will now head home to Oxford, where they ll resume qualifying for the first full team event of 2018. GAINESVILLE, FL MARK BOSTICK GOLF COURSE REBEL BEACH INVITATIONAL LAS VEGAS Another tournament for Ole Miss women s golf, another set of hardware coming back to Oxford. The Rebels saved their best golf for last at Spanish Trail Country Club, shooting 1-over (289) in Round 3 to move up one spot on the team leaderboard and finish second (294-300-289--883), just two strokes behind No. 40 UNLV, the tournament host. We played a great round of golf today, said head coach Kory Henkes. It was another cold and windy day that made for tough conditions. We knew we had to go low and keep the mistakes to a minimum if we wanted a chance to win. Overall, we gave it our all and put together some great rounds of golf, so we are proud of the effort of the entire team. Johnson Makes History Again Julia Johnson entered the final 18 holes in Las Vegas at fourth on the leaderboard, and she came out on top, sharing the individual championship with BYU s Kendra Dalton at an even-par 216 for the tournament. Johnson went 2-under (70) in Round 3 thanks to six birdies. The freshman from St. Gabriel, Louisiana, played 1-under over her final five holes to claim her second individual crown as a Rebel the most ever by a freshman in a single season. Johnson also tied the school record for the most individual titles in a season, set by Sarah Britt in the 1992-93 season. Julia had a lot of birdies this week and didn t make many errors, so it was another top-notch effort and we are all so proud of her, Henkes said. Hermansson Sets New Career-Best Pi-Lillebi Hermansson turned in an outstanding tournament as well, finishing in a career-best fourth place. Amid difficult weather conditions and a course laden with water hazards, Hermansson s wedge game was critical. I was a more mature Pi out on the course, Hermansson said. Better distance control with my wedges was definitely a game changer. The sophomore from Djursholm, Sweden, finished 3-over (219) thanks to four birdies in the final round for her first career top-five finish. Two of those birdies came in her final four holes, a finish that put a smile on the face of Henkes and assistant coach Drew Belt. Pi was a fighter this week, Henkes said. She was clutch for the team down the stretch with two birdies to finish up her round. Pi is a power player, so her focus has been working hard on controlling her wedges in practice, and it made all the difference this week. She continues to improve each and every tournament and it is so much fun to see her constantly getting better on a daily basis. Rebel Round-Up Conner Beth Ball finished just one stroke shy of her fourth top-10 finish of the season. The freshman from Madison, Mississippi, played nearly bogey-free on the final day, racking up 15 pars and two birdies to climb 18 spots on the leaderboard and close the tournament at 8-over (224) and in a tie for 11th. Katy Harris and Kie Purdom tied for the final counting score of Round 3, each at 3-over par. They rounded out a strong top-to-bottom showing for Ole Miss as all five Rebels finished in the top 30. Collectively, Ole Miss led the tournament with 46 birdies, the team s third highest total this season. The Rebels will return to action in a week and a half at their first of several SEC-hosted tournaments this spring. Ole Miss travels to Gainesville, Florida, for the SunTrust Gator Invitational March 10-11.
