Leinster GAA Review 2016 Overview Focused on five keys areas: 1. Evidence of a coherent plan 2. Finance 3. Effectiveness of Games Development 4. Talent Development 5. Games Programme

Leinster GAA Review 2016 Recommendations Evidence of a Coherent Plan Finance Strategic Plan for Wicklow GAA (3-5 Years) Gate Receipts low improvements in fixtures and promotion of club championships Commercial Strategy required to increase income Continue with alignment of resourcing of inter-county teams Effectiveness of Games Development Need for a 3-5 year strategy Games Development activities and personnel need to be more focused review roles get balance right between club and school Better communication clarity of roles More club engagement separate approach for Urban & Rural Needs to be more of a Team Wicklow collective approach (two-way) Need for more Tutors Focus club-school link during period February April (recruit to coincide with start of club season)

Leinster GAA Review 2016 Recommendations Games Programme Change age grades to 13, 15 and 17 years and restructure competitions to deal with margins of results in both codes On completion of National Fixtures Planning Committee review implement report. (NFPC Review not complete) Policy in place to govern availability of Inter-County players for leagues Club/Group Under 21 competition Review Junior and Intermediate Competition - Second Team involvement. Permissions policy to be reviewed. Promote Cross-County Leagues

Stratford/Grangecon GAA Club At the Wicklow GAA County Convention 2016, Stratford/Grangecon GAA Club, proposed a motion for the establishment of an over-arching committee to deliver on the following objectives: To identify the reasons why our teams, appear to be under performing at all levels and all grades throughout the county. To devise a solution based strategy to improve the quality of our players both at club and county level. To ascertain where necessary resources may be obtained to implement this strategy. In this regard we will undertake an extensive review of the development of our games at child, youth and adult levels in the county linked to an examination of the coaching, sports science, competitions, facilities, resources, education, people and support structures currently available for the development of players and coaches across, club, schools and inter county teams. Leinster GAA Review 2017 Responses to survey from 29 clubs: 12 Chairpersons 24 Secretaries 10 Club Coaching Officers 5 Other 7 Inter-county coaches Key Outcomes to be addressed: Fixtures planning and scheduling cancellations etc. Hurling Competition from other sports Lack of Success making inter-county involvement unattractive for both players and coaches Lack of a Vision or Plan Recruitment of volunteers Participation in Rural and Urban areas Drop off from Under 14 up (fixtures at youth level) More support/education for club coaches via games development personnel Under 21 club Resources

Approach and Method Leinster GAA Review 2017 The approach will be comprehensive and inclusive to ensure all stakeholders are consulted. Review of previous reviews and other documents Survey/Questionnaire of all Club Chairpersons, Secretaries and Coaching Officers Survey/Questionnaire of all Academy, Minor and Under 21 inter-county squad coaches Focus group meetings with County Committee Officers, Club Officers, Schools, Inter-County Coaches, Sponsors and Players Desktop review of participation, games development programmes, competitions, sports science inputs and testing, roles and responsibilities of people, facilities and investment. Desktop and visits to review good practice in other counties Next Steps - Focus Group Exercises Clubs 5 th April at Ballinakill TBC Academy Squad Coaches 12 th April at Ballinakill TBC
