THE INTERNATIONAL FINALS YOUTH RODEO IS THE WORLD S RICHEST YOUTH RODEO, held annually in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center, and attracts nearly 1,000 contestants from around the world. The five-day event interests not only contestants and their families, but thousands of spectators each year. Three arenas run simultaneously during each performance with one of the 10 rodeo events. The IFYR consists of two long go-rounds and the short go. All contestants compete once in each of the long go-rounds and the top 15 averages in each event compete for the prize purse in the short go. All contestant fees are paid back as prize money, plus $50,000 added money and championship saddles and buckles. Up to 40 high school rodeo associations, International Professional Rodeo Association stock contractors and recognized sponsors can also create contestant teams to enter the team competition collecting points for a seperate prize purse. The Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center RV Park and grounds feature more than 800 spaces, all of which will be full. To top off the rodeo excitement, a fully air-conditioned, western tradeshow is open all week featuring an array of vendors.
